Taylor didn't block for the 3 yard loss running and he didn't call a play where two guys are loose in the backfield with no one to throw it to. Taylor has his problems but not every play is on him. -

The last screen was a middle screen that Clay dropped. Looked well sniffed out. I think we just suck at screens. -

I liked the shot downfield but a 3 yard loss on the run and then 2 guys in the backfield on the pass. It's not all Taylor. The offense collectively has to play better. Groy is playing LT? -

It only took 12 games but the play calling actually looks like they understand Taylor is QB. -

Coach Tuesday's Tyrod Thread
Maine-iac replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The passing offense was fine with Roman especially when Watkins was healthy. Taylor threw 20 TD's in only 380 throws. The less Watkins played the less TD's were thrown. The less play makers you have as pass catchers the less plays are made. It really stands to reason. You want to know why Wilson wins football games take a look at his help. He's throwing to Baldwin and Graham and his defense has given up 17, 18, and 19 points the last 3 years while ours hasn't done better than giving up 22. -
[Please Change Title]Marquise Goodwin
Maine-iac replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Goodwin was ALWAYS hurt. Prior to last year he didn't even play in 24 out of 48 games. Last year he played way more than he had in any other season and he got better while doing it. Goodwin still is what he is. He could never get off a jam so if you are a running team with 2TE and 2WR packages and an oline that can't keep anyone off the QB chances are he's not going to have time to get open. If you run a spread offense and move him around, keep him from getting jamed he is fast as hell and can catch the ball. Let's not kid ourselves though, Goodwin wouldn't be doing what he's doing in SF here. This offense, as it is being run, needs a healthy KB. A healthy Clay and a healthy McCoy. -
Milano led the team in tackles
Maine-iac replied to The Now Moment's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In a league that loves to throw he's got good range and he seems to bring the hit stick with him. Like the saying goes, he always seems to be around the ball. -

The only thing better than 4 qtrs of crappy football is 5 qtrs of crappy football. -
The more football I watch the more I'm convinced coaches make the players. Brady at his level it probably wouldn't matter which coordinator came in because he can basically call his own plays, but for most coaches make the player. Look at Ryan this year compared to last. Look at Denver's offense with Gase and then Dennison. Look at ours with Lynn/Roman now Dennison. There are a handful of coaches that make players better and we need one of those coaches. Draft a QB early in the draft, develop Peterman, keep Taylor, whatever they decide if they keep Dennison I am going to have low expectations.

What do you fix first? OL or QB?
Maine-iac replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know it's not a choice but I'd like to nominate WR here. You want to throw quick slants? You want to back them out of the box? We have no one that scares anybody and worse when the QB's we do have, Peterman or Taylor, hit them they drop way too many passes. A better line would be great and I can't argue with a better QB but I really think an upgrade at WR would make a big difference. I mean a real game changer like Jones or Green or Hopkins. -
This thread is the culmination of people not realizing that for the 1 problem Taylor has he fixes a handful of others. Taylor hangs on to the ball too long/doesn't throw it into tight windows. He is tentative on throwing into tight coverage and frequently hangs on to the ball too long. Completely legitimate gripe and I've even found myself yelling at the TV ............."get rid of the damn ball". That said McCown would be crucified behind this offensive line. Some games would be worse than others but many games would be ugly sack riddled nightmares. The timing and route running by our pass catchers is very very poor. The play calling is frequently very poor. Combine that with Taylor not wanting to throw picks and again you get holding the ball too long. Just throwing it anyways is rolling the dice. Peterman was a prime example of why you can't make a living throwing into coverage. McCown might be better at it. I doubt he's THAT much better at it. Combine our WR's, line, and Dennison and I highly doubt McCown is having a good year if he played here. McCown or Taylor you are not going to see much better production with street cast offs at WR and Dennison. Someone might argue Brady or Rogers could get better production with what we've got and I'd say sure, you are probably right. Let me know when we've got either one of them.
