    See ya Gabe

Hamler and Gabe don’t play the same position.

Hamler is the same as Harty. A PR and slot guy.

I think Hamler is a touch faster and quicker than Harty. However, Hamler has been hurt a bit and doesn’t have great hands.

For those older Bills fans, Hamler is like Roscoe Parrish with a brain.

No, this has no barring on that. He's a camp body with high upside given his pedigree and speed. They won't be relying on him, but if he shows something and stays healthy, maybe he develops.

He's basically an exact copy of Andy Isabella this year for the 2024 season. Probably a guy who ends up on the Practice Squad, but has an outside chance of making the bottom of the roster.

From what I’ve seen, Isabella is fast but not quick. Hamler is both. And maybe a touch faster than Isabella.

You can only call up 2 players. with Gabe out you figure one of them is isabella. The other might have to be a punter.

The call ups will be interesting. Assuming TJ clears, there are 3 players that you’d want to call up. Klein, Isabella, and Haack, all for obvious injury replacements. But you can only call up 2. So I don’t know.  Maybe you cut Martin and sign haack to the 53, then reverse that when he’s better. Or maybe you IR Spector and sign one of the 3 callus to the 53. We should find out this afternoon.

McD should keep the play calling duties.  It's been elite level despite a comical amount of injuries.

Unless he publicly endorses Hamas or something, he's as safe as any coach in the league.

Wait. Endorsing Al Qaida was fine but Hamas is over the line?

seriously, I’m stunned by how many people here think he should be fired. I think he should be coach of the year.

Comprehensive overview of Josh Allen’s numerous sliding infractions.

@Zerovoltz What’s your take? My personal favorite is the fake slide short of the sticks on 4th and 1 vs New England. Comes up at the 6 second mark. Also love the one at the 1:29 mark, the fake slide there has Kiko Alonso all turned around.

    Excellent!

It's always been the rule. And that Steeler was smart.

Smart for taking advantage of stupid rule.

But it’s still a stupid rule.

To apply, the dude who is OOB should POSSESS the ball, not scrape it with his helmet.

I'm guessing to practice squad, in place of Fournette.

It makes sense.  Haack had a year of experience holding for Bass in 2021 and Bass had a career high FG %.

Haack's net yards per punt was a career low here at 42.7, but it's better than a 1-legged punter and it shouldn't hurt/might help Bass.

The punt average and holding for Haack are fine.

My worry is punt blocks. He is the slowest Bills punter this century in getting punts off.

So if a receiver is standing out of bounds and catches the ball while the ball is still inside the line, its a completion?

When any part of a player is out of bounds, his whole body is out of bounds.  When the ball touches any part of the body of a player who is out of bounds, the ball is out of bounds.

Your example doesn’t distinguish between possessing and touching. That’s the problem with the rule.

But what if a player is clearly standing up out of bounds a bouncing ball hits him the chest and now goes back into field of play.  If it hadn't hit him it would have landed 5 feet OB, but now it's a live ball.  So to make the rule simple, if it's touched by a player OB, the ball is OB

Disagreee. It seems like a bad rule to me.

In your example above, if ball crosses the sideline, it’s OOB. Just like a punt.

Agree it was a penalty, but then why did it take so long to figure out?  My thinking was the official planned to call PI, but they realized that wasn't going to go over well so came up with plan B.

A play can be both DH and PI.
If the player starts holding before the ball is thrown, and continues the hold while ball is in the air, it is both DH and PI. In this play, the refs got it right. The uncatchable ball negated the PI but not the DH.

The fumble out of bounds call was 100% correct. He actually touched it twice while lying OOB. Get over it... it's football.

I assumed the rule is that if the fumbling player touches the ball while he is OOB, then ball is considered OOB and play is dead.

If that’s the rule, it’s a stupid rule.

it should be if the player possess the ball and he is OOB, then ball is OOB.

You do realize this SAME account thinks Allen faked the slide right?

There’s plenty of people who think the world is flat.
Heck, there’s even a Flat Earth Society.
that doesn’t mean the earth is flat.

Any observer who has studied Allen’s running style know that he isn’t the smoothest runner around. His jukes, while effective, may seem awkward.

Look at his run closely. From ground level would be best. Players who are going to slide begin shifting their weight backward, and kicking their legs forwards. There’s a good example of a fake slide from Mahomes in this thread where he does exactly that.

Note that Allen never shifts his weight backwards.

im thinking the number of volts matches the IQ…

It was clearly pass interference on the last meaningful possession for Pittsburgh plus that hit on Allen was soft and don’t deserve a penalty

    1.  Freirmuth non fumble.
    2.  False start on RT on first TD

    3.  Way late hit on Diggs at end of first half.

Here’s a clue. Watch with your own eyes. Don’t pay attention to the announcers.

They referred to it as a fake slide on the broadcast.  It was borderline, but I don’t think it warranted a flag.

No it wasn’t borderline. Unless you think Gale Sayers was faking a slide when he slowed down to juke some DB.

Put it in context. Allen, amongst all NFL QBs , slides the least. So why would a fake slide , from someone who rarely slides, be a smart move?
