A Few Quick Thoughts About The Game...
Dawgg replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is crazy talk. Did Gray call for a pass on first and goal from the 3 yard line? Even the head coach, after the game, admitted that the defense collapsed because the offense could not run the clock down and hold onto the ball. So Schobel was throwing his hands up and looking confused -- there could be a multitude of reasons for this. For you to assume that falls back to Gray is a bit presumptuous on your part. It could be that some of his teammates were lined up in the wrong spot... Considering we have an offensive minded head coach, not getting a score in 3 quarters is inexcusable... but hey at least Roscoe Parrish completed his first NFL pass -
Question for those who heard the post game

What the hell are you talking about? We have very little money locked up on Clements this season. There was enough money to get the job done on Corey Simon, but he simply didnt want to make that move. I agree with it because at the time, we had other priorities. Nobody expected such a huge dropoff in the defense. Moreover, nobody expected that Ron Edwards would go down and Sam Adams would barely play. Nate Clements is one of the few young stars on this defense and he should be kept. He is a shut down corner... he's had a few bad games this year but that's what I chalk it up to -- a bad year. This is probably a good thing for the Bills, as his price will go down slightly because of it. He's only 24 and he has many good years ahead of him. Corners are not cheap because they are hard to replace. You'd be nuts if you want him in another uniform. -
Wrong for what? He was one of the few bright spots against Carolina and is still one of the best players on the offense. Tell Mike Williams to piss off. Not Moulds.

Loyalty runs thin these days dont they?

With extra cap space, our braintrust signed Bennie Anderson and Mike Gandy. If there is a can't miss player out there to take Moulds' spot... why not? Otherwise, don't run your best players out of town. -
Would MW be starting on this year's Texas team?

It's fine if he proclaims himself to be the best. The problem is, he isn't even close. So he comes out looking like a total jackas$ and the opposition has bulletin board material to feed off on. On a weekly basis, Chad Johnson brags about how the other team won't be able to stop him. Then on Sundays, he goes out and does it. That's why Marvin Lewis has no problem with it. Willis, on the other hand, proclaims he's the best RB in the NFL and proceeds to lay a big fat egg in the game. And before you go blaming the line, Willis has had his share of opportunities. Willis needs to either (a) BE the best back in the league or (b) STFU. For now, he should choose option (b).

Granted Willis plays in front of a bad o-line, Coach Mularkey is right... there are numerous instances in which he does not hit the holes hard enough the way Travis used to when he was here. Now don't misinterpret me as saying Travis is better -- he's not. But Willis is hurting the team sometimes when he dances around before hitting the hole, settling for a half a yard gain. He's strong and powerful enough to get a good 3 yards, even when nothing is there... I have seen him do it. With that said, he's a young player and hopefully he will mature and figure things out.
-
Hey, I like that... MOULDS MUST STAY - Stop the Insanity! This will now be my response to any crazy talk regarding cutting Moulds... unless TO comes in as a replacement.
-
Not convinced that he's the answer. We used to have a young kid in here by the name of Bobby Collins who everyone thought would be a threat. He wasn't. I'll believe it when I see it. An uncertainty such as him is not enough justification to cut our best receiver. And yes, he is our best receiver by far.
-
Admit it... you don't watch the games do you?
-
Agreed. Wade Phillips had the simplest of defenses and it was great fun to see us just physically out muscle the opposition. Those were the days

Exerpt from Greg Easterbrook Column

Please award him with a medal. -
Guys, Donahoe is here to stay like it or not. Ralph Wilson has the utmost respect for him and loves the job he is doing. They have become close friends. With Bulter and Polian, the relationship started to deteriorate, which contributed to their exits. Not the case here. Donahoe stays.

How about you get your head out of Willis' ass... the problem with Willis is that he has all the talent in the world, but he believes he's already reached the top of his profession. He thinks he's the best back in the league and doesn't feel like he needs to improve. When MM called him out on hitting the holes after the Atlanta game, he wa very arrogant, saying he won't change anything about his running style. He's a cocky kid, but I think he'll mature as he gets older. That's my hope, at least.

Saw Lawyer Milloy at the Buffalo Chophouse Tonight
Dawgg replied to WillisMcThrillis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I met him last week and he's a great guy. From his antics on TV and his spat with Bellechick, I always thought he'd be a jerk but I was pleasantly surprised. -
You know what I haven't seen in a while?
Dawgg replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. While admitedly very few holes for Willis to run through, when there were holes, he danced around until the holes were no longer there. -
Hahahaha Enjoyed that one. Pretty funny.
-
Agree with all that, but you can't blame blocking for the reason they didn't score any TDs. Just like, as you yourself pointed out, you can't blame the injuries for the D's performance. Bottom line, they didn't get the job done.
-
It's a problem, that's for sure. The defense is seriously lacking, especially in clutch situations. But the offense has been consistently bad from start to finish. Even in the win against KC, the most the offense could produce was 14 points. Just look at the scores around the league and you will see that this offense is just not producing as it should, especially considering the number of playmakers on the team.
-
Those are some great points.
-
I disagree. Yes, it was discomforting to see the defense let them march up and down the field, but to pin the blame on them is a little bit unfair. Without their best player (TKO) Without their 2nd Corner (McGee) Without their starting safety (Milloy) I think they played pretty well. In fact, they even made a big play, forcing a fumble in the opposition's territory. How many big plays did the O have? Zero. Considering the attention paid to the offense the past two years, I would hope for better. We hired an offensive coach and spent most of the draft picks on that side of the ball.
-
Nope. I thought JP played well. I don't think Willis really showed up though. His dancing is getting a tad old.
-
That's just ridiculous. The defense held a solid team to 13 points. If I knew that were going to happen in advance, I'd say the Bills get the 'W'. Is it too much to ask of an offense to eclipse 13 points AT HOME? I think not. Look at the scores around the league. EVERY SINGLE team in the league managed to score more than 9 points. That's like asking a pitcher to win a game when his offense produced 1 run. The defense played a great game considering the circumstances. It's high time our offense, loaded with tons of high draft picks and free agent signings, convert in the red zone.
-
And of course, Big Mike couldn't even play for a full quarter of this game before getting carted off.

San Diego's management took the heat for drafting Ryan Leaf #2 overall despite being the consensus pick by "experts".... A lot of times, draft guides and "experts" rank players based on what NFL teams are doing. What teams and scouts say definitely biases their rankings. When they hear that the Bills like MW a lot and the Bills pick at #4, they put two and two together rank him as the top tackle. Ultimately, their goal is to look good the day after the draft; not 5 years down the line. The more they are agreeable to what actually happens, they better off they are. Rarely do these pundits question ANY of the players taken in the first round. They only question when teams draft players when they don't have a need -- like the Lions drafting 3 WRs. Your crusade that TD should not be blamed for MW is a valiant one, but not correct in my opinion.
