Those were the days... I don't care what people say about digging up the past... with such a long drought, I can't help but hold onto those memories.
-
Well that would be a slap in his coach's face. I just got the indication that Ralph was in his corner based on his (and Eric's) comments.
-
Moulds knows better than to do that. Of course he doesn't agree with the decision! Would you agree with any decision that involves suspending you without pay??? That said, I think Ralph handled it well. It's pretty obvious he's in Moulds' corner on this one.

Bill, While your points are well taken, I don't think it's fair to let this one incident cloud your opinion of a player who has given his all to the Bills for the last 10 years. I remember during our 3-13 season RJ threw and interception that was being returned 80 yards for a TD... everyone on the offense gave up on the play except for one player: Eric Moulds, streaking down the field and making the tackle at the 3 yard line. I also remember the classic game against Minnesota where Moulds asked coaches to feed Josh Reed the ball because he was seeing single coverage (Josh had a career game that day). I remember him for those plays, not for one isolated incident on Sunday when nobody really knows what transpired in its entire truth. I also think Ralph Wilson views it the same way, for which I am thankful.

This article confirms that it was Ralph who wanted to play RJ for the Tennessee playoff game. A common misconception was that Wade couldn't decide between QBs, but I think the decision was made for him despite his preference for Doug Flutie. http://ledger.southofboston.com/articles/2...ts/sports04.txt

You're 12 years old, right?

Good post. I agree with those sentiments. At the end of the day, we root for a uniform and team logo, especially with the way the NFL is these days (free agency, year over year turnover, etc...). Once in a while, there are exceptions. Moulds, in my opinion, was an exception to that. And it's a shame he is being treated this way as he finishes his career here.

What Moulds did is not excusable

I don't know what Moulds did, though I heard one person's account from the team. That said, I think Mularkey handled it wrong. I think Jimmy Johnson said it best during his Super Bowl years: all players are not created equal. He pointed out that if the backup tight end walked in late to a meeting, he'd cut his as$ on the spot. If Troy Aikman did the same thing, he'd do nothing. Therein lies the problem, in my opinion. In terms of seniority and overall team standing (every player respects the crap out of him), Moulds is second to none. It would take an egregious act for him to be suspended and IMO, a sideline argument does not qualify. I loved what Mularkey did about Bobby Shaw last year. He was a sacrificial lamb and it worked out well becuase he meant nothing to the team. To discipline Moulds and suspend him without pay is an overreaction if you ask me. -
Everyone wanting Moulds out of Buffalo

Let's hope. My fear is wasting yet another first day pick on a wide receiver. Teams that repeatedly spend high picks on WRs rarely succeed in this league. Arizona and Detroit come to mind here... -

And you, my friend, have dished out your fair share. -

Well... I tried to add some humor. Guess that didn't work. Lighten up, unlike your post, mine wasn't personal. -

Remember when Donahoe had a better offseason that Scott Pioli? -
Couldn't have been said any better.....

Benching Moulds for poor play... Why isn't Josh Reed benched after dropping a sure TD pass? Why isn't Posey benched for botching an assignment that cost us the Carolina game? Why did Bennie Anderson stay on the field after serving as a turnstyle for 8 straight weeks? Why didn't Clements get benched during the San Diego debacle. As a coach on this team, there are plenty of people you can bench for poor play. Moulds would not be at the top of my list. -
Seriously... there were threads last week saying Fletcher was inadequate at MLB. Pretty laughable if you ask me.

Mort says Moulds skipped meeting with MM

Appreciate that Holcomb. At least one person around here has my back -
Such is the state of the Buffalo Bills. I love them anyway.

Any disparaging remarks about management and/or coaches is considered by some as a crusade for attention and a major exaggeration.
-
There is no way he felt he would get that money. Either a release or renegotiation was inevitable... I think his problem may stem from the fact that the Bills leaked it to the press, then followed it up with making him a bystander in that week's gameplan.

Not a fair accusation, Simon. That is all I will say. -

I'll let other posters speak to that. I have been posting here since 1999 and care about this board too much to blow smoke around here. -
Thanks. Now I oficially know you have clue what you're talking about.

Those "sources" are Tom Donahoe... who will do anything and everything to cast blame on someone other than himself and his inept coaching staff for the team's struggles. It's pretty pathetic that they have to bring down the most tenured Bills vet to do that, however. -
False. Philadelphia was willing to offer significantly more. McNabb and Hugh Douglas took lobbied hard for him to join their squad in Hawaii... but Moulds never got to that point and took a fair market deal to stay in Buffalo. He could have easilly left for more.. perhaps not a TON more, but it was a significant amount of up-front money that Philadephia was willing to offer him. That said, he has been very well compensated as a Buffalo Bill.
-
Let me also add that I was told that this is not a popular decision in the locker room at all. Unlike the TO situation, where many players wanted him out, his EM's teammates want him on the field.

who I will not name. 1. Moulds was not in the game plan period. This was established days before the game. 2. Moulds asked the coaches what the deal was. Coach said this gave them best chance to win. 3. Moulds suggested that if he is merely a decoy, he should be benched. 4. Coach got angry and benched him. 5. Moulds has since been suspended. Perhaps this is no new information, but wanted to pass this along.
