  1. True. It's a gamble. Just that it's a very big gamble on one guy for us. It's been a very long time as we all know. Let's not pull a homer Simpson bet and gamble everything on the singular chance to win huge else ruin Christmas (where they get the race dog pet from). Let's spread those picks and get a QB at 21 and, hopefully, several other starters as well. 2018 is not our year either way. Grab another QB next year as well. Or get cousins. Just let's not go all in on the roulette wheel. This is buffalo - our luck has not always favored us after all. I just mean that, if we sell the farm for a top 3 QB this year and it's a bust then we probably set ourselves back a couple of years relative to had we been more careful here. I mean, hopefully 'The Process' isn't "put it all on red 13."
  2. Can the sabres make .500 with their one great player? The bills will not be great, or even perennially very good, with a stud QB and so many other holes left exposed. Colts for example.
  3. Because we can instead learn through other's mistakes. Why go all in on a top 3 QB and stick him with our O line and WRs? I could buy a $400 driver but I would still suck at golf as my irons, chip shots and putting is all either mediocre else crap.
  4. Cities have personalities and one trait of Buffalo is magical bullet thinking. If only bass pro would move into downtown then buffalo would be reborn. Heh. I never understood that one whatsoever. Wtf was that? Downtown is doing a lot better now that we left those ideas of some single, monolithic gamble righting the ship and instead our planners diversified and did the needful. The sabres are another example. The magic bullet is not bad but a bullet alone was not going to do it. In short, I do not want to see the Bills give away the draft for a hope that the QB they draft in the top 10 picks is the magic bullet. How many QBs drafted in the top 10 over that past 25 years have gone on to do not much of anything? What are the odds of that magic bullet working out better than the sum of all those picks we left on the table? It's a bad gamble born by wishful thinking.
  5. Several posts here about how many great QBs have not been top 10 picks. That's true but two things - those percentages are scewed by the likes of Brady being counted many times due to his SB appearances or whatnot. Also, the inverse should be considered - how many top 10 QBs in the last 20 years have gone on to play in a championship game OR win x number of playoff games or whatever makes good filters. Read as - how many have NOT gone on to do much of anything. Most I would assume. Trading both first and a second to move up exposes the bills to far greater risk than keeping what we have or making smaller trades to move up slightly. Going all in on a top 3 QB and seeing it fail is, to me, a ton worse than getting a QB with one of our first round (say Rudolph) and a bunchnof other studs too. If Rudolph (whomever) is a bust we are just developing and waiting another year for another chance at FA or draft.
  6. "Why isn't this cool to see?" Because we're also in the afc east; and they cheat. . .
  7. . . .that tommy is berating some teammate on the sidelines and looking like he might start crying any moment.
  8. That makes no sense. Black lives matter has nothing to do with money; it's about the idea that police may shoot blacks too freely. If one wants to upset about the 1% wealth disparity in this country black and brown or NFL players are hardly the place to stick the blame. Maybe blame your elected federal officials instead? Just an idea.
  9. Buffalo. We're such illogical fans sometimes. 2018 is rebuild. All of those draft picks, maybe a rookie qb, a new OC - it's not about 2018 but about hopes for 2020-2026 as I see it. I have no idea how many wins to expect as there's too much unknown - same as for everyone. I just hope for maybe a second year in a row in which the draft is not the highpoint of the season for us fans and so excitement for 2019 this time 12 months from now.
  10. Kaep. Never understood why people care so about kneeling. It's football not politics for me; if I want to think politics I'll tune to CNN.
  11. Well, neverminding the odd history of the cartoon image - anyone aware of and using pepe to self identify today is a white supremacist bigot. Sad for the original artist and all but there it is.
  12. It's pepe the frog which is the current white supremacy icon. Picture a swastika under a bill's helmet more or less. "Hatred is baggage."
  13. Well, the Astros just added another starter and they might have something to say to the both of us about this. Heh.
  14. Well, Sean McD said he wants a veteran QB next year. I suppose that could mean used as backup and benchside advice but I'd bet the veteran QB starts the season off - unless there's some serious magic in the pre season games from the new guy or Nate.
  15. Paulbills - or maybe your opinion has something to do with that racist avatar of yours? Sad.
  16. Tyrod is a very solid backup. Tyrod could win as a starter if in a very good team which is carried by defense with his lack of turnovers to make for the +16 turnover ratio we saw early this season when our D was performing well. Tyrod is not the only problem, of course. Our eligible receivers cannot catch passes directly to them. Peterman saw the same thing which perfect passes bouncing off the guys. Then there's the O line - which Peterman also enjoyed in his first outing. And the OC who did not bother to play to his players talents which showed most obviously with tyrod and tolbert. Plenty of blame to go around. Tyrod I expect will be the starter next season which a fresh round 1 qb draft watching and practicing. I'm fine with that. No need to rush the kid in and ruin his career. Give him a year to grow and the team a second year's draft to further shore up the OL and get or teach guys who can catch the balls he throws well enough. 2018 is not our year - but it should be one year closer to our year and hopefully a preview of who some of the studs will be when that year arrives. Until then - the Yankees are a very young offense and likely showing the studs who will win their next so I'm focusing on that and the bills draft; and hoping to hell the NFC can manage to win the SB this year!
  17. Mike cannot catch a pass - they need to stop throwing to him. Williams looked good in pre season. Whole thing is a mystery. Anyone have an update on cadet's leg? Hope it was not as bad as it looked - which was very bad.
  18. A team with a great defense and looking for a QB who won't lose the game on ya would do well with him.
  19. Also agree. Well stated. Hardtruth - you thought this was to be our year?! We just suffered two years of Ryan clowns and went into the season with the worst WR corps maybe ever plus a QB controversy involving only one QB! Ha. This year has been very promising save for that half a game when N8 imploded by refusing to be sacked. Much to do yet but the culture has changed, many of the ass clowns are already gone and we have tons of picks coming up. Will next year be our year?? Nope. But maybe three years from now if they keep up the progress and perform well in the draft.
  20. WR is a team in need of upgrades. Tyrod and OC aside, Nathan p threw several fine passes (not all to WRs though) that were not caught. I say draft one and FA another if able. Assuming a rookie qb next season pairing him with one rookie wr would be fine. The best EJ ever looked was his first games when he and woods were having a rookie bond connection going.
  21. Fit the entire bills defense with metal clubs on their arms and go to town all day long. Make Brady a priority.
