Jets request to interview Joe Brady
BuffaloBillyG replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall
The thing not a lot of people recall is that before his stint with that Panthers, Joe Brady had been interviewing for HC jobs since way back in 2021. In addition, he interviewed for the Falcons job last year. He is extremely well though of in league circles and has vastly rebuilt his image since his time under Matt Rhule with the Panthers. Saints and Jets this cycle have already requested interviews and I expect one or two more to come down before hiring starts. In a rather boring HC cycle, he has the youth, energy and offense mind owners can get dazzled by. And it only takes one offer If I'm betting I believe he will get an offer this cycle. -
I agree. The kid does have some talent. But I really don't think he has the maturity to lead an NFL football team. I expect him to flame out rather quickly when he doesn't have Daddy Prime catering to what's best for him. I don't think he will be particularly coachable. And God forbid he ends up in a party place like Vegas or one where the media will turn on him quickly like Ny/NJ.

Jets request to interview Joe Brady

Right now the Jets have an extremely wide net cast. They are basically requesting to speak to everyone including Brian Griese and Josh McCown. One the one hand whoever is hired their fans have to be satisfied that an in depth search attempt was made. On the other hand, the net is cast so vastly and wide at least to me it seems like there is no real plan in place and they are hoping to stumble onto someone by accident. -
Started slow this year but I feel like he really played some of his best football lately in the season. He's been a beast. The thing I like most about him is even after he beats his guy, he's still looking for work. Looking to hit someone else.

Jets request to interview Joe Brady

Don't be so sure. Last year everyone counted openings and said one was definitely Belichick, one was Johnson and one was Vrabel. Johnson pulled his name and those with openings passed on Billy and Vrabel. Hiring season can be cooky and a guy like Brady can pick up steam fairly quick. -
Who Starts At Safety In The Playoffs?
BuffaloBillyG replied to stlbills13's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hamlin. And it's really not even close IMO. Let Bishop have the off-season and come back to camp ready to start next year -
As of right now I'm seeing the Giants have $57M in cap space for next year. Would make it difficult to go after both Darnold and Higgins. Not impossible, of course. But difficult with the holes they already have to fill.

If you were to start booking a SB trip...

As long as you make sure everything you reserved is refundable, no harm in booking early. Prices only go up the closer you get to an event. -
One Thing: Keon looked terrible yesterday
BuffaloBillyG replied to Dr. K's topic in The Stadium Wall
Coleman was one of the few WRs I didn't really want Buffalo to draft. But guess what, they did and he's here now so I'm going to be optimistic. I'm anxious to see how he improves in his sophomore season. Wonder what work he will put in during his first NFL off season. I also think (if he's back next year) Joe Brady will take some time and figure out how to better utilize him this off season. It also couldn't have helped missing a chunk of time in his rookie season due to injury. Let's give the kid a chance to put the work in. All in all, yes he's been inconsistent, but he's shown flashes to be able to make a big play as his YPC would suggest. I do still think WR is a need, especially if they let Cooper walk. I hope they look to address it in FA over the draft because I want DL in the draft this year. -
If you have to put out an announcement to say your coach and GM will be back next year....you need a new HC and GM. Daboll has already got to be the betting favorite for first coach fired next year. I doubt he sees week 8. This was a chance to go out and hire a coach, new GM and a grab a QB in the draft and reset. Instead whatever QB they draft will have likely 3 HCs in his first 2 years. (Daboll, an interm and a new guy the following year). We saw how that worked out for Mayfield.

He's a good play designer. He's a bad play caller. His offense wouldn't fit our players...which means revamping our offensive roster in an off season we need to rehaul the defense. Josh isn't a WCO guy From an logistics stand point...nothing would make sense about hiring him. Couldn't be a worse match for the Bills, actually.

So what did we think of Buffalo Joe Andreesen at MLB?
BuffaloBillyG replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
I didn't really notice him in coverage, which can be a good thing. And he was around the ball a lot. Still needs some experience, but looked decisive at the snap. I think he could develop into key depth/spot start duties or need be. Solid football player. -
I give the Packers a chance.

A Bills-free Minnesota @ Detroit game thread

It's the Rams. And that is going to be an excellent game IMO either way. -
A Bills-free Minnesota @ Detroit game thread

My bet is that Detroit wins in a blowout OR Dan Campbell is overly aggressive lately and costs the Lions the win. No other outcomes make sense to me. -
Either the Lions win in a blowout or Dan Campbell makes a bad coaching decision to cost the Lions to lose is my prediction.

So, who takes The bait and grabs Sanders? And does Cleveland go QB or sign a vet and grab a weapon like Travis Hunter?
-
What's even more impressive to me is he basically lost the first 3 years of his career by sitting behind Favre. Lost another last year and had seasons where he only played 9 and 7 games respectively. That adds up to 5 lost seasons of stats he could have had. A world class head case....but truly one of the top 3-5 to ever play the position.

OK so who had this on their 2024 NFL Bingo card?
BuffaloBillyG replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
To me, the bigger shock is that the top 2 (Darnold and Baker) that were considered more pro ready and polished had to travel to a combined 8 teams to find success while the two looked at as largely flawed blossomed on their first team and have had the same HC their whole career. Oh and that at one time the Panthers had both Baker and Darnold and couldn't win with them. Says a lot about how important coaching can be.- 39 replies

Sounds about right. McCarthy I think earned the extension with the injury issues. Had the team playing hard in the back half of the season. Of course, another team could enter the mix and swipe him as his contract is up and will be a FA. I do think Pierce will be back and they will move for a QB this year. My surprise may be Nick Sirianni if the Eagles go one and done.

Bo Nix looks like a mega star today
-
Works both ways. Kromer would have familiarity with Payton as well. As would Joe Brady.
-
I don't. I think this move is to move on from the Patriot Way of things. With Maye in place, a top 5 pick likely and the most cap space in the NFL to rebuild...this will be a PRIME HC job. I would be shocked to see them chase an offensive coach.....perhaps even Ben Johnson.

What a play by Denver. Football Gods are smiling on them today. Nix looking splendid. 17/17 passing.
