Here’s the thing though.  States that don’t have state income tax, get their money from real estate tax.  Unless a player plans to rent, he’s likely going to buy a mansion so will pay taxes anyways.

As someone who lived in Texas for a number of years I can attest to this. My property taxes were more in Texas on a 180,000 house are more than now in Colorado on a house 3 times that.  No state income tax is a marketing tool, states always get their $$$$.

…or maybe he felt he should have been hired as the OC, waited to see if Dorsey was on solid ground after a mediocre 1st year as OC, and when he found out Dorsey was going nowhere, he bolted.

Then bolted for a lateral job on a team with a HC as OC?

Interesting that this is a lateral move. By all accounts he was well liked in Buffalo. I wonder if he wanted out or if we werent overly interested in having him return.

Either way maybe itll be a change for the good since our WR development was lacking last season.

If he saw a lack of opportunity here in Buffalo why would he would move laterally to a team with a HC as OC?

This seems as if Sean didn’t want him back or maybe he just wanted same job with an offensive minded coach, in warm weather and with no state tax.

I don’t criticize the dice rolling, but the result was poor.  It cost us Poyer, Edmunds and more.  We received a burn down video as the season highlight,

Out of the hundreds of players available AFTER our picks at DL, I’m sure you can cherry pick a few that have succeeded in the NFL thus far.  That’s not a realistic way to criticize though.

So then you tell me, how do you define successful drafting?

Im not really sure what your point is here.  You defending or criticizing Beane?

  5. Von signing is a product of poor drafting after he used 4 top 2 round picks on DL with almost nothing to show for it.  He also drafted a 3rd round special teams linebacker who doesn’t fit the defensive scheme, and all the while ignoring OL and WR in top 3 rounds!

The BEST one can say about his drafts are that they are maybe average.

People on here keep overreacting. Acting like the eagles are a 16-1 team and the Bills are 4-13, miles away. Once teams like the Bills, Eagles, Chiefs, Bengals, Niners etc meet in the playoffs anything can happen. We lost, move on. Why are some of you impressed how other teams have drafted/built their rosters but not the Bills. Going into the season we were overwhelming viewed as having an amazing roster. And guess what - we went 13-3. Not 3-13.

Off the top of my head starters we drafted:

    Allen

    Dawkins

    Brown

    Singletary

    Davis

Shakir (didn’t he have the most receiving yds in the playoffs for us?)

    Tre

    Oliver

    Edmunds

    Milano

    Taron Johnson

That compares to any other team in the playoffs. You reach a point in talent levels between teams where W/L come down to coaching, execution, and a little luck.

I suggest many of you get over your doom and gloom and grow a pair.

Do you consider this season a successful one?

What should the standard be for a successful season for this team?

May not work and Russell might be cooked (I think they should draft a guy to develop anyway). But one thing I respect about Denver is they constantly are going for it.

also, Elway is an awful decision maker.

Elway was an awful GM, but we wasn’t involved in this.  The current GM is just as awful though.  He traded 2 1st, 2 2nds, 3 players for Russ and then gave him the worst contract in NFL history 2 years before he was even due for an extention.

    Just brutal

Another year? Are you serious? 14-4 in 2022!  You don't remember what it was like being a Buffalo fan previous to McD, Beane?

These are the best two since Marv and Polian. Let's not forget that those Bills were horrid previous to being hired and thus were able to draft HoFers Bruce Smith, Jim Kelly among others. Also, as good at that K-gun offense was, they ran the ball with Thurman more then they passed most of those glory years.

This game showed the flaws, lousy Bflo O line and hardly any run game...Josh Allen the leading rusher...again! Allen trying to press all game.  (Bills D line got no pressure despite 3 lost starters.)

Allen only sacked once and yet hit 8 times and countless pressures.

Lastly, OC Ken Dorsey is a rookie this year. Recall what Daboll looked like his first season in Buffalo?

The standard now is the Super Bowl, nothing less could and should be considered a success.  That’s life of NFL top 5 teams.

I picked the HC, because that would mean a new coaching staff across the board. This has just got to stop. It feels like McDermott has lost some of that locker room and once that happens its almost impossible to get it back.

Bigger question with Reich is would McD hire someone who would be such a possible threat to his own job security.

McD is going nowhere this year, next year, the year after that, or any time in the near future. Don’t you know a man of faith and leadership is all you need to win a SB.

The second he talked early in his career of faith, family and football I knew we would have lots of good guys and no Super Bowls under his tenure.

  11. Beane or McD, I don’t care who but they have:

1). Drafted 4 DLmen in the top 60 picks and all at best haven’t lived up to their draft spot, mostly just bad.

2). Have not drafted a single OL in first 2 rounds the last 3 drafts.  The one they did was 2019 Cody Ford, ugh.  Think maybe OL better use Of Boogie Basham pick?

3). Have not drafted a single WR in 1st 3 rounds of draft.

    4). 2021 draft ?  Oofffff!

This ALL starts at top with both Beane and Sean.  Beane likely overrated, and McDermott is the Doug Collins of NFL coaches.

bills have 3 losses.....they lost the turnover battle in all 3

The have won 6 also when losing turnover battle.  If Josh just takes that snap in Vikings game they are 7-2 when losing turnover battle.  I think this is the point some are making.

The can’t lose the “turnover battle” and win games take is just a lazy.  Turnovers are a undesired change of possession, as are punts, missed field goals, failed 4th down conversion, on sides kick and end of half’ and games.  It all has context.  When, where and how also matter.

The “you can make data say whatever you want” crowd also misses point.  Data and it’s analysis can and will be wrong.  The whole point isn’t to be 100% correct, it’s a tool to increase the probability of successful outcome.

Would we all prefer Josh and Bills to not turn ball over or at least less?  Of course.  But to say it’s then end all on success or failure is lazy and just not true.

I wonder how many clicks this thread gave him.

Bills mafia = Nick wright job security.

If you hate him.  Ignore him.

I actually generally like and agree with most of his points including some Bills ones.  Yet, It just seems different and personal with Josh and Bills, not just click bait.  Not sure what it is born out of, but I’ll just take it for what it is.
