Pretty sure we've seen Milano's floor the last two games and Williams is already playing better than that. The argument was around the type of injury he was coming back from. Because it was an arm a few of you, and I don't recall exactly who, said he would not suffer much setback when he returned because it wasnt another leg injury. My point about him likely being washed stems from his previous injury. He was still having issues with the leg in training camp. Linebackers much like running backs tend to have big issues coming back from serious leg injuries late in their careers because they rely a ton on speed and reaction time. I hope he gets back to form. But, I think the injury history and his age will prevent that.

The root source of D problems is the D Line
thenorthremembers replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Daquan Jones is toast and has been all year. Historically Oliver doesn't play well when the 1 tech struggles next to him. Outside of that you have Groot who is at his best a 2nd pass rush option, Epenesa who shouldn't be starting on a good NFL team, and the ghost of Von Miller. Part of this is on Beane for rolling with the guys they have. Part of it is on McDermott who rolls out Miller instead of seeing what Soloman has.- 286 replies

He is wearing a lot more padding. Could be a part of it.

I said it in the Dorian Williams post and got flamed. To expect a 30 year old lb coming off two major injuries to come back and be good was silly. I was told it was only an arm injury so he would be the same player. The likelihood he is washed is extremely high.

They held like crazy the entire game. The refs decided they weren't calling it. Meanwhile everything was pass interference. -

Similar to the NBA sometimes a team shoots 75% from 3 and are unbeatable. Stafford was fitting the ball in where there was no room. Nacua made some amazing catches. It happens. The Bills could really use a great pass rusher. That said, they are fine. Still have the best player in the NFL. -

And it was a glaring example of everything wrong with this era of football. 7 on 7 with terrible officiating. -

Quarterbacks and "fake slide" controvery
thenorthremembers replied to I'm Spartacus's topic in The Stadium Wall
The entire slide rule is true to what the NFL does best, optics. In my opinion the slide rule doesnt reduce injury, it only reduces the amount of players you can blame for the injury. When a QB is running up right the strike zone on him is massive. Its likely a defender is going to do as taught and wrap up low and push through the runner. When a QB slides the strike zone is reduced to the head and shoulders. If a defender cannot stop himself from running through the player it is more likely that a head injury will occur due to the limited strike zone. In this instance you can only blame the defender. So the NFL has its boogeyman. NFL football is way too fast to assume a defender can pull up when a QB slides 1-2 yards in front of him. The bottom line is no amount of rules beyond going to non contact 7 on 7 football is going to make giant men running into one another at full speed infinitely safer. Maybe the next step is to only allow Quarterbacks to play in the pocket as throwers. -

Does Hyde return this year to the Bills?
thenorthremembers replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall
I just read it. It essentially says the return would benefit the Bills most in the locker room. It sent on to say his most likely spot would be taking over for Hamlin. While Bishop is waiting in the wings he hasnt done enough to take over for Hamlin. It wouldnt be acceptable for McDermott to make that move. But if it were for Hyde it would be more acceptable in the locker room. Personally, I think it would go against everything McDermott stands for to bring Hyde back this late in the season to take over for a guy who has played every game, regardless of perceived shortcomings. -
Weak 2025 Qb draft opening for Beane?
thenorthremembers replied to Mat68's topic in College Football
The problem is the defensive lineman we are going to be looking for are specifically suited to our scheme. Mason Graham is the best defensive tackle in the draft, but he is a 3 tech, which we dont need. The best edge rushers in the draft are 3-4 outside linebackers outside of someone like Mykel Williams. The better idea is to sit back and grab a 1 tech at the end of the 1st round, someone like Tyleik Williams or Deone Walker and then get an edge rusher in the 2nd. Guys like Kyle Kennard from South Carolina or Jack Sawyer should be there for the Bills in the 2nd round and both are good players. No need to spend picks on moving up. -
