The same 34 year old that threw for 4000 yd, 26 TDs 5 Ints, 68% completion percentage? With 14 years as a starter, who has played in multiple systems, understands the game very well, super smart, continues to excel? That Alex Smith isn’t worth a 2nd? One of our later 2nd rd picks? I think your undervaluing the need for QBs and all that Smith brings to a team. Especially a team with a high pick Rookie they are trying to mold. Well agree to disagree. Vita I feel is not a first round pick. Watching his film I see nothing that screams difference maker. Doesn’t rush the passer well, and sometimes gets swallowed up. -

How they’ve talked him up, how his team mates fill about him. Talk about how smart he is. Regardless of the San Diego game, it says a lot that McD wasn’t afraid to put him out there. Yes he wasn’t ready, but he’s also a rookie. I think they know with more time, experience, exposure to the nfl game etc, the game will eventually slow down. It always does. And leadership I assumes it will click for him. Me guessing I think they Bring in a proven Vet, Peterman and Rookie battle. We will see though. What I see happening... Bills trade a 2nd rd pick and a 2019 5th rd pick for Alex Smith. Then, Bills Trade out of one of our 1st round picks for a late 1st or early 2nd also gaining a late 2nd/early 3rd (pick used to get Alex Smith back essentially). Grabbing our QB with the late 1st/early 2nd. So Bills still end up with two 1st rd picks and two 2nd rd picks and also get Alex Smith, or Bills end up with the 21st pick, and 2 2nd picks, 1 early 3rd and get Alex Smith. But I don’t see them grabbing a QB with #21 or 22. They will trade down to gain more picks knowing those #5,6,7 rated QBs are all basically the same. -

Honestly I see Buffalo bringing in a Vet. They said so yesterday. I took that as meaning we want to draft someone but they need a Vet to learn from. I’m thinking the Bills don’t draft a QB until the 3rd round. A Matt Smith, Drew Lock, Riley Ferguson etc Unless someone they like slips down the first or second rounds. Im telling you, they love Peterman potential. I see them grabbing a mid round QB to push Peterman. But knowing an Alex Smith, Bradford or Keenum will be our guy the next 2-3 years. But if the Bills like Rudolph they will still do the same, or Ryan Finley. -
Gotta get a DT to push the pocket. Taven Bryan DT Florida is by far the most disruptive DT in this draft. He’s not as strong against the run (enter Star Lotulelei) but we are talking pass rush. Dude is strong, super quick off the ball and can penetrate. Also look for Malik Reed Nevada DE in the later rounds. DTs- K Williams, Lotulelei, Bryan, Washington. DEs- Hughes, Lawson, Yarbrough, Reed (also Lorax)

What is it that Tyrod has done or “can do”, that makes fans feel as if there isn’t major room for improvement there?!!! Its laughable!!!!

I think Benjamin has his surgery, rehabs hard core... drops some lbs and comes into next season in amazing shape... 1. It’s a contract year, if we don’t extend him first. 2. I think he may feel he has a lot to prove.

Alex Smith, assessment from a KC fan

KC destroyed the Titans last Saturday. Then Kelce went out, they left the run game. Defense got soft. If you ask me that’s all coaching. -

I’m talking in the film room. Tyrod has never had the opportunity to run an offense. Cause he CANT! Play is called and he runs that play. Vs Seeingvthe Defense, stepping up to the line change the play, change the blocking scheme, audible to a hot route. He can’t do it, doesn’t do it so how can he mentor and teach and say “you see that, I did this, and this is why”. Coaches can only reach out so far, but to see it done, hear it from the horses mouth etc is what Tyrod can’t do to the level needed if you want to develop a playoff caliber QB. -

Sad thing is he will land somewhere to mold a Rookie, a bridge as they are calling it here. And I just cringe at the thought of that. I’ll take Alex Smith Bradford etc if we are gonna play the bridge game just to ensure my guy gets the correct mentor ship, that alone is worth forking out some dough. -

Yep, coming off a statistically solid season, still looks good. There is value there. And you’re right, some teams have a half a dozen holes (Bills) why not get a somewhat sure bet with a 2nd and save that first to fill a huge need. To many teams in the situation make the demand very high. 2nd rd is too what I’m saying. -

It’s nit just the Bills either... he will go somewhere and look exactly the same and fans will see the Tyrod of Buffalo and tell themselves “this is why Buffalo dumped him” -

Thing is some fans won’t believe it until Tyrod goes to a different team a still struggles. Once people understand that running around isn’t the best way to play QB. Shoot we watch Brady twice a year and people still love that Tyrod runs around. I would be willing to bet 50% of the time he runs around he didn’t have to. But because his pre snap ability is weak, mental aspect to make checks is weak etc is why he’s running around. For god sake, the play he got hurt there was a wide open receiver he looked right at. It’s like he got himself hurt, that was his fault cause he doesn’t need to be running around. As fans we’ve seen to many opportunities passed up cause of his inability. He won’t be a #1 ever again because of it. There’s too much tape and he’s had long enough where players coaches GMs etc know the truth. Fans can point fingers here or there. It’s false hope. -

Is that Dead cap after March 1... or just if we don’t resign him? either way no way Tyrod is on this team. I love my Bills but I’ll sit back and wait til he’s gone, cause he just can’t do it. I still take Smith for 2 years. -

Probably a 2018 2nd and a 2019 3rd..... But Maybe ‘18&’19 2nd rd picks at worst. Honestly I think a 2nd and a 5th this year Smith could be had.... Alex Smith has value for sure. KC might try for a first and no one is gonna give a team a 1st for a 34 yr old QB. Our late 2nd and 5th could do it, or be super enticing. -

McDermott is what got this team to 9 wins. He created a locker room that fought hard as Under dogs every week. Tyrods minimal 100 yd games weren’t the difference maker. Bills were the only team with zero completions over 50 yards. KC has jerkoffs like Marcus Peters, seems like a me guy. Bills don’t have that. When KC was up big last week why didn’t the pound the Ball? That was an issue. If you couldn’t, then that is an issue. Eric Berry out, Revis is a joke... there’s tons of reasons it seems to be KCs problem other than Smith. As far as Finances... Tyrod is set to make $18M next year with a $6M roster bonus March 1. Ain’t gonna happen. I’d give Smith $18M per for the next 3 years any day! -

Tyrod wont be a #1 QB ever again. Take it to the bank! There is 3 years of film team wont really care for, not to mention mental downsides of Tyrods game. He’s a 1 dimensional QB in a 3rd league. That kid from Alabama probably grasps the mental side of the game over Tyrod. -

Difference is you’re upset about losing your playoff game knowing you basically will have to go with a rookie QB next year and hope it works. Where Bills fans know this team overachieved after stripping it and it’s only gonna get better, not only that but to replace Tyrod with an Alex Smith or Case Keenum etc we are sitting nice. You are looking at KC and spotlighting one individual for your playoff loss and comparing it to Tyrod and Buffalo. But Buffalo wasn’t even supposed to win but 4 games this year and we made it. It’s apples and oranges, most fans will be more than happy to take Alex Smith off your hands. Cause KCs problem is more than Alex. -

Alex Smith wasn’t the problem in Kansas City. Nobody here is gonna say he’s a top 5 QB. But he’s a tremendous upgrade over Tyrod. -

Try watching Tyrod for 3 years and then tell us “Alex Smith isn’t anything special”. Hes exactly what the Bills need for 2-3 years while he grooms. If Tyrod can help get this team to 9 wins (whatever help you think that might have been) The Bills would be ok with Smith. Think about that.... Tyrod will never be a #1 QB after leaving Buffalo. -
I think it’s BS!!!! Since their selection. Honestly I watched 6 or 7 of their games. They didn’t start playing til the playoffs. Like, hey just coast, don’t worry how you look, don’t worry about even playing in your conference championship and hey, just be ready when you get in the playoffs. SECs #3 11-1 team who coasted all year... Or BIG 10 #1 11-2 team who play multiple big games... I still think OSU deserved to be there over Bama. I watched a lot of football this year, nothing will change my mind of who was more deserving. Again Alabama has this silent entitlement and it’s BS. Its like the science nerd who stumbled once then had an amazing exhibit who worked his butt off and finished strong and won the state championship.... but didn’t get the invite to the Nationals cause the judges wanted to invite last years winner instead, who really wasn’t that strong this year (or prove to be anyway) but cause he’s always usually great, let’s give him a shot.

Preston Brown will not be kept, 100% positive. He’s soft, has zero play making ability, slow, liability in coverage and just isn’t the right fit. Hes a free agent and will be looking to get $5-6M per... not happening. Not hating on the guy, he just not the best man for the Job. There are some super athletic LBs, fast with done playmaker ability to be had in the first 50 picks. At a Beane price tag

One player to watch tonight.... LB Rashaan Evans This kid can play all over the field. Inside, outside, rush off the edge etc. Has good size 6’3” 230, great instincts. I truly believe Preston Brown is NOT resigned. Don’t feel he is the true fit at LB in McDs style Defense. McD will look for the future QB of his Defense. It’s not Brown as much as some will think.

Which WRs do the Bills keep - if any

Hard to find video of this Kid.... Justin Watson Penn U, 6’3” 215 Poor mans Cooper Cupp being a smaller school guy, put up great numbers, size, speed, good hand etc. Thinking 5-7 round potential... If you want to see him, he will play in the East West Shrine game in a couple weeks. Here is his high school highlights just to get an idea.... if you’re bored Ridley at 21 would be amazing... if he has a big game tonight he may solidify himself closer to #10 overall vs 20 overall.
