I don’t think we did the Rousseau deal, cut Von and redid Allen’s contract just to sign some mid-level guys.
Maybe.
I just can’t imagine we don’t do at least one thing that constitutes a “swing”.
I think the reporting on Bills/Sweat is accurate.
Makes a ton of sense to be in on him.
Garrett is 40M per year for one guy.
Hendrickson will want in the 30’s.
We should be completely fine paying, say, 45M for two guys in Rousseau/Sweat and keep all our draft picks.
Josh Sweat
Charvarius Ward
Jevon Holland
To me, those are 3 guys who would be game changers for us on Defense.
Money for Holland seems too rich for us and Ward will likely get paid paid.. which I’d be fine with, but obviously Benford dependent for how the FO views him long term.
Sweat looks like the home run at his point.
Not a gamewrecker but gives us another Rousseau essentially, opposite Rousseau, with Oliver and allows us to keep draft capital to load up at DT.
I said before… that DL starts looking like what the Eagles had last year.
Steelers look to be in win-now mode.
If Pickens isn't long term (Roethslisberger speculating he may or may not be on McAfee).. I'd offer a deal based around Cook for Pickens.
Cook and Warren would be a legit backfield that works well together.
KC recently played in one of the coldest games we've ever seen.
Green Bay plays in frozen games all the time.
Sure, Buffalo can get colder that the others, but if you're adverse to the cold.. over half of the league is in cold weather with a lot of them playing outside.
I'm honestly at the point where I'd overpay for Josh Sweat to keep our draft ammo in tact.
Sweat opposite Rousseau with a premium pick DT next to Oliver starts to resemble what the Eagles threw at KC.
I read he turned down a 2 year extension worth 32M per year.
If accurate, is he looking for a 3 years extension at 100M because I don't know how comfortable I'd be giving that contract out on top of his one year left at 30 years old. Takes him through age 34.
Unlike the Browns and Raiders, yea.... I don't know that the Bengals are suddenly going to cave.
Bengals folks still say this is basically a "Come back to us with a deal we can't refuse or you're playing out your contract".
