This may be Beans best draft ever. I loved every pick
SCBills replied to oldschoolfootball1963's topic in The Stadium Wall
DJ is year in/year out one of the best. This is wild. Really reflects our team building tbh (both good and bad).. None of the projected elite guys but absolutely crushing it with the above average/very good players. A microcosm of our rosters around Josh Allen. -
New Bill - former Lion Quintez Cephus signed (Update: Now released)

Post 6/1, I’m 100% convinced we’re either signing a mercenary EDGE or signing/trading for a legitimate WR. Not sure if we can get both done, but one of those things is happening. He was guarded on how he phrased that given our current cap situation and what it will look like June 1st. -

Bills lost to the Chiefs because of two things. If one of them doesn’t occur, we win. 1). A decimated defense. No linebackers and Rasul Douglas was playing at 30%. 2). WR play. Diggs was an absolute joke and without Davis, Sherfield completely **** the bed in his opportunity to play his role. If we had a healthy defense OR better wide receiver play we win that game. I do think our Defense could legitimately be better than last years (when healthy). We’re a healthy Von or mercenary DE signing away from a top tier defense. Offense.. not sure. Good OL, RB’s and TE’s. WR’s are definitely wait and see. -

If I squint really hard, I can see it.. -
Completely agree. Bills clearly don’t want to have to take away an element of the Offense when they rotate RB2 in for Cook, and with Ray Davis they don’t have to change it one bit. Davis isn’t running outside WR routes like Cook can, but he is one of the better receiving backs in this draft.

Rd 5, Pick 141: C Sedrick Van Pran-Granger
SCBills replied to section122's topic in The Stadium Wall
Kromer surely wants Van Pran to be able to play Guard in an emergency, but the reason a very good Center was available in RD5 is because he was literally built to play Center and not much else. If he’s unable to beat out McGovern and send him back to LG, it would be interesting to see if he’s Gameday Active with his lack of position flex. He’s making the 53, but if he doesn’t win the spot, you’re likely not activating a depth OL who can only really play one position. -

I legitimately keep forgetting he’s on this team, but fair point. -

Fair”ish” Chiefs WR4 is a recent RD2 Pick in Skyy Moore Bengals WR4 is a recent RD4 Pick in Charlie Jones Jets WR4 is Allen Lazard Ravens WR4 is Tez Walker … Bills WR4 is Mack Hollins Guess it depends what you think of Hollins. A lot of other teams have guys with recent draft hope as their WR4. -

Don’t need a pro-bowler, I just think we need 4 legitimate WR’s. We have 3 currently. Mack Hollins a solid WR5. WR4 puts him in the rotation, which isn’t where I think he should be. -

So this has to tell us that the Bills viewed Cephus as a better low cost investment than a Day 3 WR? Beane clearly had this in the works yesterday and mentioned it in his press conference. I just don’t get it. After Coleman, Samuel & Shakir, we have JAG’s battling it out for 4-6. -

Welp… alright. I liked this idea better when we didn’t know who the player we’re signing is.- 301 replies

Ray Davis is a good player, but gives me heavy Devin Singletary vibes, albeit bigger and a better receiver. That’s a good player in theory, but I just don’t get excited by it. Hope he proves me wrong and plays every game like he did against UF. Just felt like we could’ve scooped up an RB2 later.. maybe where we drafted our LB6 in the next round, and instead took a WR in RD4 … minor gripe though. Im of the belief there’s another shoe or two to drop in the WR room before we get to camp, so I’m resigned to a wait and see approach. Im actually coming around on Keon Coleman over McConkey. Coleman has heavy Tee Higgins vibes, and as long as Allen is going to adjust to what that means, I see the vision. Otherwise, I’m good. Bishop, Carter and Solomon should all have roles on the Defense this year and Van Pran could absolutely challenge for the starting Center spot this Summer.

The more I watch of Keon Coleman, especially his Michigan State tape, the more I see Tee Higgins.

All we can do is judge based on positional value, who they selected and their projections, but in doing so… If Keon Coleman is the next Tee Higgins, I agree that this has a chance to be an elite class. Got the next anchor of our Secondary in Cole Bishop. A rotational DT with pass rush ability (which is important in our scheme). Don’t love RB in RD4, but Ray Davis is definitely a good player & the offense doesn’t need to shift much when he’s in the game as he’s an excellent receiving back. RD5 is where this draft class may seal the deal. Similar to Torrence, we got a steal on the OL who slipped due to lack of position flex - Van Pran is a RD3 talent and could push to start pretty soon. Solomon as a designated pass rusher could be an absolute demon off the edge in passing downs & it’s about time we jumped on this trend (see Bryce Huff types). Thats 6 guys who I think may make contributions as early as this year. Daequan Hardy has a good shot at making the roster with strong slot corner tape and massive punt return ability. And we drafted a linebacker who will give us more young, athletic depth and be a core special teams. 8 guys who probably make the 53. Some potential difference makers. Picked up an extra 4th next year. A lot to be excited with for this draft.. even from someone like me that really hopes there’s more to the plan at WR for this year. Because we look good almost everywhere else on this roster. -

Yup. We got Torrence, a RD1 talent in RD2 due to lack of position flex. Similar story for Van Pran, who has been pegged as a late Day 2 talent. -
Potentially .. maybe seems that way because so many went early. We got Gabe Davis in the 4th and Khalil Shakir in the 5th in deep WR classes as well. Are there those guys on Day 3 this year? Well see..

When you step back and think about it, it’s a bit headache inducing that in the deepest WR Draft in a long time, the team that was probably the most WR needy in the NFL took only one.

With Travis, and avoiding UGA, I think FSU would’ve won the Natty tbh. -

Feels like we have a wild number of OL for a group that has 7 likely locks (Starters + Van Pran & Collins) and two guys we’ve spent two years developing (Anderson & Van Demark). Maybe we always do this and I never paid attention. -
Rd 6, Pick 219: CB Daequan Hardy, Penn State

His tape is fantastic. Both at slot and as a punt returner. Great pick! We finally have a real backup to Taron Johnson and can justify it even further by having him return punts.
