where does he separate? He has guys hanging on him every play. He has to make highlight reel catches because the corner is with him step for step. He won't win as many of those in the NFL. You have to actually be able to get open

If they trade down and pick up an extra day 2 pick I think he could be part of a double dip.  Coleman paired with Worthy, Franklin or Wilson is more palpable imo.  Coleman could be a fine wr but need to know what he is and is not.  Power slot with some jump ball ability in the redzone.  A traditional X I'm not convinced he is.

I doubt Latu falling to the second round is actually realistic but if he does Bills should make a move up to take him. We need a starting DE and he'd be our best shot to get one past round 1. Worth the risk.

Depends what team Dr say.  Its not a matter of grade but is he being taken off their boards completely for medical concerns.  Some risk adverse teams will take him off.  Some will not.  They said the same thing about Jalen Phillips but he was drafted high but often injured.

  3. I think all options are on the table at this point.  I went with wr at 28 and different position at 60.  I think the Bills are digging deep into Alabama and Jermaine Burton.  Went to Alabama pro day instead of Texas both were on the same day.  Maybe taking attention off Texas wideouts.

Trading all the way up for one of the top 3 seems a bit rich.  If they do it I would be excited but pretty much rolling with the dline as it is.  I think they need to do something at 60 to add depth to Edge or draft Jones successor at DT.

I could see a trade up to the 20s late teens including a 25 2nd.  Beane really likes a guy he will go get them.

I actually think moving up massively/significantly for a non-QB or a lackluster QB prospect actually leads to pundits saying that the team that traded back more often than not won the trade. I think many feel that trade ups of more than a few spots high up tend not to be worth it most of the time. NFL roster building is almost more about not having weaknesses and good depth than it is about what your top elite talent looks like (outside of the QB position). Getting more picks or swapping out lower end picks for higher ones and get more or better "bites at the apple" to bring in talent all over the roster is better than going up higher on the board.

You do need at least 2-3 elite non-QB players but the issue is that even trading up well into the top 10 does not guarantee that at that much higher a degree and as we have seen throughout NFL history elite top 5 at their position players are found all places in the draft and even some like Jason Peters un-drafted (although UDFA's being elite players is rare).

I think given how deep this draft class is staying at 28 unless Brian Thomas maybe falls to around 24/25 (which would be a smaller more manageable trade up) the Bills best bet is to "let the draft come to them" and draft a WR at pick 28 like Legette or McConkey or trade down 5-10 spots and pick up a 3rd round pick and still take a WR like Franklin or Wilson and use that 3rd round pick to fill a need elsewhere on the roster and then take another WR at pick 128 for added depth while using pick 60 and whatever you got from the trade down to build the defensive line or if at pick 60 a top guard or center is there add a piece to the offensive line.

Only 1 I could fully get behind is Marvin Harrison Jr.  I would say the Andrew Luck prospect of WR.  Was a future 1st round pick since highschool

  4. Jefferson, Aj Brown, Dk Metcalf, Devonte Adams all went around or after Buffalos pick.  Wrs are situation depended.  Buffalo will be one of the greatest situation a rookie wr will enter.  Paying a kings ransom for a Wr isnt ideal imo.  Use the extra 2nd next year?  Sure, but outside of that im not digging too deep.  I think worst case they will have a solid wr at 28 one that would be graded higher than any of the wrs drafted in rd 1 last season.

I don’t think the Bills will like him because of age. They will likely prefer someone 21 years old.

I have felt that way too.  Maybe  Allen sways it.  Toughest choice is Mitchell vs Leggette imo.  Mitchell has what your looking for but not the production.  Leggette is older and his 1 season is still one of the best seasons in the class in the SEC with the most talent in the secondary of any conference.  Wr now being an immediate need vs a chance to come along slowly you may take the dip in potential for a bump in immediate impact.  Aj Brown is still a heck of alot of potential.

given Burton's issues...I would be stunned if we drafted him

What are the issues?  He transferred to Alabama and pissed off Georgia?  Punched a fan in a field storming situation.  Is that it?  I hear off the field but never details into what.  Makes me think its more draft speak than real.

  7. Basically, they need a player that can line up outside on the line more than 50% of the time.  Easiest thought process is that a big body wr does it best.  And adds jump ball capabilities.  Reality is there are multiple ways to win outside and size is the least effective way.

Lets look at an extreme example.  Cole Beasley.  He excelled in the slot because of his quickness and route running.  Why he didnt excel outside because after the initial burst he didnt posses the speed to run away from coverage.  Desean Jackson wasnt much bigger but his speed allowed him to operate outside.  Michael Thomas and Marquise Colston where large bodies but similar to Beasley didnt have the speed so where more effective in the slot.

Harrison, Nabers, Udunze, Thomas Jr, Mitchell, and Leggette all have the average or above average Height and weight while also having the speed and explosion to threaten deep.  My concern is getting stuck on size and missing the second part which is explosion and speed.

  8. With the 65th pick the Carolina Panthers select Ruke Orhorhoro, Defensive Line, Clemson.  @gonzo1105 is now on the clock.

I like Orhorhoro a lot.  I think he can play anywhere across the dline.  Big, athletic ass kicker on the dline.  Late to football so still has plenty upside.  I labeled him a DL not DT because I think he could be a power edge not just a 3 tech.  I see Micheal Bennett as a comp.  Worthy, Frazier, and Orhorhoro is a very good haul for Carolina.  BPA matched need.

What are you suggesting?  Do you think they should draft Coleman?  If they are taking just 1 WR early, I would be disappointed if it is him.

Larry Fitz was an animal in college in the early 2000’s not the modern passing game. As a redshirt freshman had 1000 yards and 12 tds and followed that up with 1600 yards and 22 Tds.  When has Coleman ever done that? Tape, production than athletic profile.  His athletic profile doesn't disqualify him but it validates by he wasn't consistent or dominant.

That’s fair.   I guess I just don’t believe that type of player should be a round 1-3 pick.  I want this picks to be fully time starters by year two.

While I like our roster, I don’t think we are in a place for a luxury pick, which is what that feels like to me.  Granted; we can’t trade in this draft, but I’d trade back and get my starting G/C or Safety.

I see that path with Jenkins.  Will play similar snaps to Jones and Oliver immediately. With Jones at 32 years old he would also be the replacement at 1 tech.  Fiske would mainly be a rotational player for me because he would be behind Oliver.  In a perfect world you sub Fiske in on passing downs but with tempo and modern football easier said than done imo.

  11. I went Jenkins.  In the short he term can play behind Oliver at 3 tech in rotation.  I think in a year or 2 in the scheme can play beside Oliver at 1 tech.  I dont see that same versatility in Fiske.  As a 3 tech Fiske has more potential but isnt Ed Oliver.  Moving forward what is the plan at 1 tech.  Jenkins would answer that question and be the 3rd guy in the rotation behind both players.  Fiske imo would be more behind depth behind Oliver with Johnson and Williams behind Jones.

Everyone wonder what happened to Diggs the 2nd half of the season?  He shut it down when we hit 5-5, he wasn't going to go all out for a possibly non playoff team.

Brady also made it a team thing, vs. Appeasing a single WR.

Listen to Cosell and Simms.  He no longer threatened defenses deep.  They were able to sit on his underneath route tree more.  Still a good player but no longer elite.

  13. Allen got a gorilla off his back.  Diggs was positioned to receive his lowest target share and count in his for years in Buffalo.  The film and analytics point to a declining player.  His contract paired with his attitude made the move the obvious one.  Consider similar aged wrs could gain more than a 4th a likely top 40 or 50 pick made too much sense.

I believe (maybe hope is a better word) that this is a classic case of taking one step back to more easily take two steps forward.  If ever there was a WR draft that made this decision easier this year is it.

Yes on paper they are not as good.  Without any of the drama, he no longer threatens a defense deep.  He is paid as a top 5 wr.  That he is no longer.  His targets were going to go down this year.  Now how would Diggs respond to a drop in his targets for the betterment of the team?  Its alot of small things that adds up to doing it now.  Bring in some younger guys and a rookie or 2 and I think the offense can be as good or better than last year.

  15. Imo it was 50/50 money and wanting to be elsewhere on Diggs end.  This was the last year of guaranteed money but also locked in for 4 more years.  He forced a trade and was not welcomed with a bunch of new money when he arrived in Hou.  They took off the years so Diggs wouldnt be a problem.  Basically, to get the money you are asking for you have a year to show out and get it here or elsewhere.

Take the off the field stuff out of it.  He is top 5 in the league in targets and pay.  The offense was more efficient and better overall when not feeding Diggs targets.  Going forward the offense would be funneled through Kincaid, Shakir and Cook due to their catch % and Allens rating when targeting them.  So now if Diggs is not getting 160 targets but closer to 100 his production will go down.  He will still be good but not elite.  Sprinkle that in with everything else off field I think trading is the best option.  Dead cap is for money already paid to him.  Is he worth another 25 mil this year of new money they will pay him? I think the conclusion was no.  Would Diggs make thing tougher for everyone around him if he was not the main read on most plays?  After the win streak to win the division and make the playoffs, after the season he was still questioning the change of philosophy mid way through the year pointed to I was a pacing career but I dont know what changed and why.

Maybe we knew the Texans would clown themselves by giving us a potential Top 40 pick next year while simultaneously ripping up the best part of the contract they inherited.

I think that was a remedy to Diggs wanting more money.  The deal looks better today imo .

Does Daboll see any value in Knox? I don’t think the Giants have a reliable TE (Waller hasn’t seemed to make an impact there).

If he did, adding him to the trade could make it a more appealing trade, pick-cost wise.

But that would help us too much lol

Im not sending Knox after losing Diggs and Davis.  TE is a position of strength I would not weaken it.

    You mean like:

    Goff, Mahomes, Rodgers, and Lamar?

I mean…wow…not sure how else to respond to that.  Mahomes and Rodgers already first ballot HOFers, Lamar is 2 time and reigning MVP, and Goff made a SB and multiple NFCCG appearances.

How many league MVPs does Sammy Watkins need to play with to reach his potential?  We know the answer isn’t 1, 2, or 3 because he played with 3 league MVPs, 2 of which are first ballot HOFers right now.

Diggs trade was never an absolute, there was plenty of buzz about that possibility.  There is no chance Beane pays QB level draft trade compensation in the best WR draft maybe ever.  Never gonna happen, and if it does, Beane should immediately be on the hot seat and fired if it doesn’t work…and I absolutely love Beane, but I would fire him if that WR didn’t prove to be the best WR in the NFL, cuz even then it probably isn’t worth it still.

Slight move up, stay put, maybe wr trade.
