Bills to work out TE Jace Sternberger (now signed to 1 year deal)
Matt_In_NH replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the 12 personnel thing is getting blown out of proportion. If Kincaid plays a lot and is split out wide, how is that really different than 11 personnel? He is a bigger body, that will mean something but if he was to be unavialable, it would seem plausible to me to replace him with a WR vs "has to be another TE". Now if they are going to line the TE's on the LOS then I agree they need more, I am not sure that is the plan. I often think about personnel groupings and stats of them are misleading. You could have a RB that lines up in the slot, you can have TE's that was spread.....I have always thought it would be good to track both personnel groupings and formations. Because for instance, there may not be any real difference between one teams 12 and anothers 11 other than one guy has "TE" instead of "WR" next to his title but they do the same exact thing. -
This game was epic....I would like to watch it again if I had time. It was weird how much the Bills offense had the ball, how many plays they ran, how successful they were but they did not generate points. Other than the loss, the thing I hated about this game was the belly aching over the weather which is very unBuffalo like. It was a war of attrition for the Bills offense and being in the sun had something to do with but so did living in a different climate and so did the shear number of plays run by the offense.

I dont disagree the impact will not be a big deal however, I really dont think he was "on the fringe". They could have made him a cap casualty and had 0 dead cap......they decided to give him a new deal with some guaranteeds but an overall less cap hit than the deal he was on. If they had waived him, I doubt he would have got what the Bills gave him. I would not say it is impossible for him to have not made the team but he was a pretty good favorite to stick.....not "fringe"

He needs to jetski more and run less though

I did not agree with the restructure, but I am just a guy on the internet, now it costs you more than the 1.5M since he is injured....actually might depend on his contract language about things like jet skiiing. ANyway, 1.5M dead cap for a backup to the backup running back is excessive IMO.

It is $1.5M more than $0

For all the talk about RB value......his was terrible but there was no dead money if the Bills walked. The Bills negotiated it down but took a decent dead cap if they moved on which was/is not going to happen. My opinion of how Beane handled the redo of his contract was that he overpaid and was trying to justify the trade of the draft pick a little. This sucks for Hines so I do understand the human value. But Hines is the top paid RB on the team and he is 3rd or fourth string....with returnability. He was a highly paid kick returner on this team. The touchback thing? The Bills often return if out of the end zone when they are in their rights to down it.

Now we have to hear theiybthing that matters is more wide receivers. “Defense does not matter”. “Defense shmefense” and other complete nonsense.

They can cover whatever he is doing. Could be charity could be farming could be life with friends could be about bills mafia. I don’t think lack of wife changes much

Maybe because he was 3rd in rookie of the year, 3 pro bowls in first 4 years, threw for 4800 yards and better than a 4 to 1 TD to INT ratio. Not sure, just a random guess.

The quality of the player always matters with this stuff.

Where the Bills rank in spending for each position

There is a lot of manipulation going on. The bigger concern is how much future caps are leveraged. -
