  1. Not a very good one. He’d jump at the chance to rejoin an NFL team. While the move makes sense on paper, it would be foolish for Beane to bring him on onboard. Would you really the person whose job you took to work under you? Doesn’t seem like a good situation
  2. Who in the hell is Viscious Sid. Yolo your sources leave a lot to be desired
  3. Yes many young QB’s have benefitted from having a veteran QB in the room. Its not a guarantee by any means, but I don’t think it hurts at all.
  4. Maybe a coach and GM who already have been criticized for how they handeled the QB position.
  5. Question is - do the Bills cut their losses and get rid of Peterman? Or do they keep him on the roster and have him inactive each week? The optics of cutting the QB that won the starting job weeks ago is not good!
  6. They couldn’t. FA hadn’t started yet. I do agree. He is the ideal mentor for Allen
  7. I can believe this man. Unfortunately it seemed like Russ was more heavily involved in football decisions through the time when Rex was hired. I do think he took a step back around 2015
  8. Of course, but the “who should get blame for EJ” discussion has been debated in the Bills fan base for years
  9. Yep....he just kinda seemed like a guy who was not qualified to be a GM. The results proved that to be correct
  10. I’m pretty sure that the reason the Bills Lee was two-fold: 1.) With Hyde and Bush banged up they really needed a new safety that knows the defense. So Marlowe got the call and they needed to free a roster spot. 2.) Lee’s calling card was that he was a good blocker. If you watched the game last week, he didn’t really perform that well.
  11. The book was pretty much out on QB’s in 2013. Buddy basically over drafted a QB in the first round who likely had a 3rd-4th round grade. One of the many things that infuriated me with Nix as GM. He really painted humsef into a corner by not addressing QB sooner. Just a terrible GM
  12. The story of Clay in Buffalo is somewhat are to evaluate. There’s no doubt the Bills overpaid but that’s what happens in FA, especially with a restricted FA. If you look look at his numbers, he’s pretty much on part what he did in Miami. His receptions and yardage are down a little but not by much. I think the Bills gave a slightly above average TE money that you’d pay an All-Pro TE. In defense of Clay he has never gotten solid QB play or the number of targets that other TE’s have. In Tyrod, he had a QB that was not good throwing over the middle which is where more TE’s make their living. Also Clay fought through some injuries which affected his numbers. I agree that the Bills could use an upgrade at TE. I’m 50/50 on whether Clay will be back in 2019.
  13. Its just not the Bills. There’s moves like this in the NFL every week. Whaley and Jim Monos made these moves every week as well.
  14. Take this for what it’s worth. On the most recent episode of the Bills Beat podcast Joe B and Fairburn get a bit into evaluating McDermott and Beane. The subject of Whaley comes up. Many have debated what Whaley’s role was in selecting EJ. If you remember he was officially named GM after the 2013 draft, though many speculated he took over for Buddy Nix unofficially before then. So while Buddy was technically GM when the selection was made, many felt it was Whaley’s call. Joe B isn’t one of them. He said that he refuses to believe Whaley was involved with the pick. He thinks EJ was 100% a Buddy Nix move and that Whaley was playing “good soldier” and went along with the pick. What that doesnt explain is why Whaley overspent to trade for Sammy Watkins the next year. It seemed as though that was a result of him trying to justify the selection on EJ. Either way, that’s what Joe B thinks
  15. You make a few good points but from what a I can gather you seem to be extremely down on McDermott and Beane. You want to criticize what, in your opinion, are bad moves yet you are reluctant to give them the appropriate amount of praise. Just seems like a lot of confirmation bias and not very fair takes. Also for you to discredit Eric Wood who still has many connections in the organization and to say “Kyle is just towing the company line,” on culture is extremely disrespectual to both veterans. You are a fan who watches games from home and you have no idea what the culture of the lockerom is like. I will take guys for Wood, Kyle, Shady and others who have given us no reason to think that anything they say is “boilerplate.” Those players are actually there - you are not. In my opinion, if you are going to criticize any of the moves of this administration decisions like parting with Marcel Is fairly small. LGiven his contract and his attitude, I think it wasn’t a good move getting him off the team. Bottom line - he wasn’t producing. Happens all the time. If you want to fault anyone, it should be The Pegulas. When the hired McDermott they should have fired Whaley and started fresh with a new GM. Instead they kept Whaley and his crew around as lame ducks to protect the scouting work they had done. IMO I think this was a result of Terry’s friendship with Doug. He kept him around until after the draft. This was a bad call as it left McDermott to call the shots in personnel. While I am very pleased with him as HC, he is not a GM. You can argue that he made a few blunders in terms of the screwing up the compensation formula by signing MOR veterans, not picking up the 5th year option on Sammy, and a few other choices. The bigger question mark is, what would Beane have done at QB in the draft had he been hired in Jan? Does he take Mahomes or Watson? I dont blame McDermott for punting on QB. He knows a big decision like that is a bit above his pay grade and he didn’t trust Whaley to pick his QB for him. Again, I will preach. Let the pros do their job. Give them time.
  16. True but that’s partially an indictment on poor drafting as well. You can put a lot of that blame on Buddy Nix and Doug Whaley for very poor drafts.
  17. From all reports and from trusted players like Eric Wood and Kyle Williams there is a good culture in place. Moving on from Marcel and Sammy were certainly the right moves for many reasons. The Bills signed Marcel when he was a top DT and his play deteriorated since 2015. By the way your argument about him doesn’t hold value either. For his contract, he should be playing more than 65% of the snaps. He’s just not worth his deal. Many fans have no clue what it takes to build a successful NFL franchise. I think it’s time to give these guys a break. I agree with you. The second guessing of the Bills fan base is off the charts
  18. People need to give Beane and McDermott some time. It’s unfair to judge them so soon. Let’s see what happens on year 3 after they have the chance to spend $100 million in Free Agency.
  19. Funny because he was also a 3rd option in LA. Am I seeing a trend here?
  20. I am reading Joe B’s colum today ranking all of the Bills. Surprisingly he has Harrison Phillips ranked very high against GB and he’s one of the top rated players for the Bills so far this season. I have to say I’ve seen all 4 games in 2018 and really have yet to notice Harrison making a difference. Can someone explain why Joe rates him so high? Because I’m not seeing it on the field or in the stats. Maybe he’s keeping linemen off of the LB’s? https://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-buffalo-bills-all-22-review-week-4-vs-green-bay-packers
  21. This is what i have been saying for years. Moving on from both players made sense at the time (Marquese Goodwin too). Maybe Woods would have been worth keeping but trading Sammy was 100% the right choice. Anyone who says otherwise is not thinking clearly
  22. Different scenario. Sammy was essentially a decoy. Never really stepped up. He used AJ Green as an example. He makes plays AND shells take coverage off Ty Boyd I’ve only seen a couple of easy throws missed so far. His passes to the RB’s out of the backfield have been good. I remember reading that he struggled with those throws in Wyoming
  23. This is understandable for Shady. He’s just been hit with a civil lawsuit, and it’s possible they don’t want him making any unnecessary appearances. For KB - your guess is as good as mine.
  24. Makes much more sense than having him at WR
