  1. I’ve seen it. But if the Bills defense is good enough to keep them in games, would Anderson be a better game manager who could make more plays that Allen?
  2. We’ll see. Sal and Jeremy made it sounds like there’s a very good chance he goes back to the bench if he doesn’t show improvement
  3. Lots o debate and discussion on WGR this morning over the Derek Anderson signing. Both Sal and Jeremy speculated what it means for Josh Allen and reference Morts “ possible playing time” tweet. Jeremy thinks there’s a good chance of happening. He feels that if the Bills coaching staff sees Allen leaving plays on the field, while the defense plays well, they won’t hesitate to pull him under the mantra “win now, win in the future.” Sal says he can see it happening and cites the decision to sit Tyrod last year, that McDermott is willing to make that decision. He says as long as Allen shows improvement, it’s a non-issue. But if there’s some more games like GB and TEN, then it could happen. Both are hoping it doesn’t come to Anderson replacing Allen, but if the Bills don’t get better QB it very well could happen. What say you? Do you think the Bills will actually bench Allen? I don’t think it happens but who knows?
  4. Yep Thurman was a figurehead. But any say he had on the defense was eliminated once Robb Ryan came on board. Many players have said that Robb was basically running the Bills defense? Why did Rex bring in Robb instead of trusting Dennis Thurman? Because he knew his arse was on the line. That’s why I consider Rob coming in as a demotion to Thurman...even if it technically wasn’t on paper
  5. Exactly Rex was feeling a lot of pressure after the #4 ranked defense took a dive. He obviously wasn’t going to fire himself or his pal Dennis Thurman. But he did bring Rob Ryan on the staff to basically be the defensive coordinator - whether in title or not. By most accounts it was seen as a demotion for Thurman.
  6. Right...as I said above he hasn’t worked in coaching since Rex was fired
  7. Nitpicking... one small minor error. The majority of the facts were legit
  8. Its not going to take 3 years. The Bills will know after year 2 at the latest, especially if he’s starting. If there’s not enough improvement it puts McDermott and Beane on the hot seat. They’ll make a move to save their jobs. Bradshaw is a horrible example. Coaches in the NFL could lose for years and still keep a job. You get 4 years in the NFL, maybe 3. QB’s get less time.
  9. Former Bills DC Dennis Thurman has finally found a job as a Defensive Coordinator in Bill Polian’s AAF. If you remember Thurman was famously the scapegoat for Rex Ryan’s incompetence at running the Bills defense. He demoted after the 2015 season and replaced by Rob Ryan who turned out to be worse. Thurman has not coached in the NFL since https://aaf.com/memphis-express-coaching-staff-set-to-take-off/
  10. No I trust the opinions of people who have actually held a position in the NFL. Not just some fans passing as experts. If you read their takes for entertainment then it’s cool, but these guys don’t have an informed opinion. They are amateurs trying to pass themselves off as pros.
  11. Sorry but I trust reliable opinions. People who have actually evaluated players for a living. Not a couple of fan boys who coach high school sports and have less NFL experience than the janitor at One Bills Drive. As I said, my problem is with people who post their takes as though they are gospel. Enjoy it for the entertainment value but these two are highly unqualified to legitimately evaluate NFL football players.
  12. Ah ok....Joe Marino has less experienced and less credible than Ledyard. That should tell ya something. But I’ll give him his due, this this was a good article. But he less of an informed opinion than Nate Geary Of WGR or Jon “Yards Per Pass” Ramsey.
  13. It should be noted that Jon Ledyard is a high school football coach and part-time trainer. He has no NFL personnel credibility. Has never officially scouted a player nor has he ever worked in the NFL. Not making this up: https://draftwire.usatoday.com/author/jonledyard/ It it would be like us evaluating prospects. With thay being said, Allen does not look good. He’s not wrong - but people need to stop pretending Ledyard’s word is gospel. He’s a hack writer
  14. I’d agree on Houston and don’t think the blueprint from yesterday is sustainable or a good idea long term. At some point Allen will need to air it out
  15. If you listen to the podcast, I think you’ll see that Joe and Matt make a very good point. You might argue it’s a bit premature, which they admitted themselves, but their point or solid. The “cost” is the development of Allen. The game plan this week clearly minimized Allen’s role as a passer in the offense. Their argument is that the Bills need to let Allen lead the offense even if it means making mistakes and holding the team back. Why trade a few wins in the short term, if it restricts the development of their future QB? I can tell you didn’t listen to the podcast because they argued that 2018 is all about Allen’s development. By the Bills protecting Allen like they did yesterday, it’s not giving him a chance to develop which could be dangerous long term
  16. I would take this move. They’d get another starting LB on a rookie deal. One thing to consider - if he’s fallen out of favor with Wilkes, does that mean McDermott and/or Beane wouldn’t want him?
  17. He’s a good depth player and filled in admirably. Looking forward to seeing Hyde back in the lineup
  18. Difference is - Allen is a rookie that was considered to be very raw coming out of school. Tyrod was a 7 year vet when he was throwing for 100 yards. To speak to your points - both are limited passers
  19. Hey @Hapless Bills Fan say what you will about the talent on the team...but the culture here doesn't appear to be broken
  20. Only way he replaces Allen is an injury. There’s no way that the Bills can or will bench Allen#keepdreaming
  21. Whaley did a pretty good job of signing those lower tier players/free agents who ended up being very productive on the team. He was not so good at drafting and he was marginally below average at big free agent signings
