  1. If GR every got some serious competition (and no, i dont think WNSA was a good fight) they would be finished. Almost everyone would switch to a station that had entertaining informative hosts that actually took the time to form thier own opinions. GR is an disgrace and all the morons who work their should be ashamed but they're too stupid to know the crap they fling. Dont listen to GR and dont support their advertisers.
  2. Loved the article. GR sucks and everyone knows it. Love how the entire lame staff will pretend to act like sportscasters when football season starts. Jeremy and Brad may be the two lamest excuses for informative hosts ever (ith Schoop and buttdod second). Want to change GR? Dont listen and dont support their advertisers. Nothing speaks loudr than loss of money. Maybe then the retard PD and the idiotic staff will get the boot.
  3. Everyone please relax! When the NBC deal was anounced ESPN said that Primetime would be moved back to 11:30 and NBC would have some sort of highlight show leading into its 8:30 kickoff.
  4. To the guy who likes Brad and his non-sports topics, you've kind of made my point for me. He isnt bright or entertaining enough to make sportstalk interesting for three hours so he has to deviate from it. Another poster made the best point and its worth repeating: until management at WGR is totally turned over or the business of radio changes drastically or another sportstalk station starts up, then the pathetic state of sportstalk in the city will remain. Howard is just the latest example.
  5. It must be management and its a puzzling approach. Howard doesn't have much of a personality and for some reason they insist on playing to his weaknesses. Howard is best (and i'm not a huge fan) when he's using his concise manner in dealing with local and national issues. By making him painfully fill time with non-sports topics and then pair him with a total moron, it makes for awful radio. I cant help but think that management encourages this type of idiotic talk. Brad Riter is a great example. His show is one the alltime GR train wrecks yet he continues to keep his slot. It takes talent to keep sportstalk interesting when its slow but its done all the time elsewhere (Fan 590 for example) Sadly, until another sports station comes along to give listeners who like actual sportstalk a forum, we'll be subjected to this garbage for awhile. Best advice: dont listen.
  6. I think the schedule is really set up neatly. Interesting opener...3 NFC teams before division play......NE at home late in the season......Saturday night Game!!! X-mas eve afternoon.....end at the Jets on New Years day.......it has some flavor to it.
  7. Sadly this has to happen with the Patriots in our division but this needs to be said.....Tom Brady is not only the equal of Joe Montana but he may be on his way to becoming the best ever. Poised, unshakeable, deadly accurate, and tough as anyone. This kid is unbeatable in the clutch. From a pure football fans point of view, Brady is almost flawless. Everyone always says that Brady is good but he's a product of the system. No, he really is that good. Philly is in for a tough night.
  8. Good for you Bro!!!! Stay strong and be proud that you've finally done it. I've been 11 months without a smoke and its sooooo much better being smoke free. Do I still think about having one?.....Yes, but the ugre is so small now I hardly notice it. Stick with it!
  9. Howard is boring. End of story. Good point on Bulldog, how he still has a career in radio is amazing. He sucks bad!
  10. Howard is amazing???????????? LOL!!!.......if amazing is what you call boring then I guess he is
  11. Boy oh boy. If Howard is many peoples pick for a good sports talk host than this city needs an education. Howard was a good balance when that maniac Dickerson was a ranting irrational idiot, but Howie is just so unentertaining that its painful. Attempts at humor fail at once and his supposed "insights" are nothing more than the obvious generalizations I hear in the upper deck. By the way, whose the preschooler on with him? Hey Howard, why dont you kill a few MORE minutes reading e-mails. Vapid and banal.
  12. I guess Satan figured that one of his favorite sons had more work to do on Earth.
  13. Wow....a real bummer for those who loved hearing Joe from NYC overnight but also good for Joe. His opening rants rank right up there with some of the most entertaining radio I've ever heard...."y'know, this franchise....." Chris Carlin is a solid replacement but Joe is the best. WFAN is the gold standard in sportstalk and it shows you how amatuer and lame WGR (yes including Howard) is.
  14. I agree...........is this a playoff team?....no.....but they beat the Jets start to finish yesterday and that should count for something. The D was amazing......Jets had the ball 1st and 5 in the 3rd and went 3 and out......wow. Throw Evans the ball more please OC Clements. They still have some big holes but if they can pull off a win in NE on Sunday......all bets are off on the "lost season".
  15. Lets repeat..........................Brad Riter is a no-talent, moronic, obtuse idiot who has no broadcasting skills but uses plenty of vapid content to mask his total lack of knowledge of sports. Lets hope the next sound we hear is a truck crossing the center line.......if you get my drift If only Buffalo radio knew what good sports talk sounded like........it aint Brad
  16. The reason Brad cant talk sports is because he knows nothing about it. His is a no-talent black hole that sucks up airtime.....I hope he's next to go.
  17. Thank God those three morons are gone!!!!! Now if only GR would take it to its next logical conclusion and get rid of that idiot no-talent Brad Riter and his little side kick then the station might be something!!!
  18. This really is a silly thread. If you leave a sunny September game thats close with 5 minutes left in the 4th, then you have a point. After all, if your main concern is beating the traffic instead of enjoying the game....then why do you bother going? But.......if you are sitting in raw conditions like yesterday for about 6 hours (assuming you arrived around 10am to tailgate) and you dont want to stick around to watch two poor teams burn the rest of a blowout game out.....then you have every right to leave. Watching garbage time of the Bills-Cards in a rain soaked cooler does not qualify as being a true fan. Both teams are lucky we spent the cash to watch them in the first place.
  19. My God!!!! Doesn't U2 have enough money?....now they're whoring it up for iPod? Nice values boys!
  20. D keeps Curtis Martin from running wild and holds him under 70 yards.....and Pennington shreds secondary with pinpoint passes for 2td's......leads two other drives that result in FG's..........Henry runs well but redzone offense fails...again.......Bledsoe goes from average effort in Pats game to his typical road performance: 5+ sacks 2int and many poor decisions.....late Td in garbage time Jets 20 Bills 10 hello 0 and 4 On the bright side....if they win 3-4 games this year hopefully Ralph will fire TD and its back to square one...again Nothing left to do but wait for JP to get healthy and build from there
  21. Rome's act has really worn thin. Somebody in "C" town throw a rock at that idiot please!
  22. Well just got home and you beat me to this thread. Coy Wire had one of the most brutal games I have ever seen a Safety have ever on any level of football. Bit on play action on a 1 and 30 that resulted in a 1st down. Got beat again in coverage in 1st half for another big 1st. Let Graham run right by him for yet another huge 1st down with the Pats backed up in their own endzone in the 3rd. Goes offside on 4th and 1 and gives the pats a 1st. Promply gets beat for the go ahead touchdown a play or two later. Heard him just now pulling in that "A hard playaction makes it tough"...and this gem "things happen so fast in the redzone and he got a step on me" If the game is too fast maybe you shouldn't be on the field. Let Baker play....I can live with rookie mistakes, not the total lack of talent and mental breakdown that Wire shows every week
  23. Forget about dealing with people holding up tickets on the way in. Stay at your car and down a few beers until just before kickoff. Get to the Abbott Road side of the stadium where people cross the street and start eyeballing prices around 12:55 You run the risk of miss a few plays but you will find a pair at face. If your looking for just one seat....follow the same instructions, offer a $20 and you'll be in the gates, have a cold overpriced beer in your hand, and be seated for kickoff. Trust me, I've done this many, many times before I got seasons. A game that is on local TV is easy to get into. A game that has 70k+ sold that is blackedout is the one you'll pay dearly to get in. Wait till just before 1pm....dont panic when you hear the anthem....then lowball them. Or you might get lucky and find some good Bills fan looking to unload a seat cheap because he/she doesn't want to miss the start either. Good luck. Its worth the effort.
  24. No problem.....tell me how it works out. Good luck
