Is this true, are Nantz and Romo calling the next 3 Bills games?
-
What? Those aren't the only two teams in WC contention. There is also more on their schedule than just each other. I'll revisit this again after the games play this week, just like I do every week.

The Steelers are going to be the #1 seed
Scott7975 replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, I don't think thats happening. If it did they would probably lose the divisional round and be one and done just like Baltimore in 2019 I think it was. If they did manage it then I'd feel better about having to go through there than KC. (if we made it that far by some miracle) I do think Pitts makes the playoffs though. -
Does Allen hold some accountability for personnel decisions?
Scott7975 replied to Johnnyp566's topic in The Stadium Wall
No. Josh can wants who he wants all day. It's still McD and Beane making the decisions. Just because Josh provides his input doesn't mean he makes the decisions. -
I'm not going to take the poll but I will say here... I love Josh because he is an elite QB. He has special traits we have never seen before. He is fun to watch and he has embraced Buffalo. The dude does a lot for kids too, you can tell he cares and I love that. We haven't had that kind of QB in a long time. It's amazing to find one at all and we did. Finally. I get that people are upset about his play this year but there is a lot going on that isn't on all him. Yes, some of it is, but not all of it. The dude is still elite. Don't take it for granted. He is special.

McDermott weird comments about Josh Allen
Scott7975 replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
I sort of feel the same but maybe for different reason. I agree that last year probably any up and coming guy would have killed for the job. This year I dunno. Maybe they still would because we don't truly know the situation. Can only speculate based off what we hear, read, and see. I never know when to trust writers either because sometimes I think they are full of crap. Other times, maybe they are on to something. The reason I asked the question was because of McD. First, we got a report of a Daboll and McD rift. We got that report even before Daboll got hired by the Giants. It said he wanted out to the point that he would take a lateral job. We see that rift at the end of the Giants game. The two couldn't get far enough away from each other. We see reports that basically say McD wants this ancient history run game and then let Daboll do what he wanted a year later and the next year he pulled back from that going back to wanting this ancient school of football. It could be what caused that rift. Me putting pieces together, I think Daboll and McD have different philosophies and I think McD puts not winning certain things on Daboll. Maybe even put that 13 seconds on Daboll because of "scoring too fast." We have heard comments from McD that make me think this, so it isn't just reporter writing. Then this year I get the feel that part of Josh head space problem (and I do believe Josh's problem is all mental) is because of McD. We hear things like he wants the offense to be run his way. We can clearly see Josh doesn't run the football anymore, he is very hesitant, he doesn't look like he is having fun at all. Now maybe McD just wants Josh to be smart with running and slide and get out of bounds, but maybe McD just isn't getting that message across in the right way. I personally think that Josh has been badgered by that so much that it is in his head and its affecting his game. I also think McD really gets on him for the INTs and its affecting his game. I'm not saying that Josh doesn't need to be smarter or that he doesn't need to tone down the turnovers some but it needs to be taught to him the right way. His head is just not right. You can see that on his face every game, so I don't think it is. Maybe McD's message is just getting old at this point. I could be wrong, but I feel like McD is meddling in this offense too much and in Josh's head too much and that is a big part of the problem. If I am right, I can't see an upcoming coach wanting to deal with that. If it is true then they would know about it. I think McD is a good coach. I also think he is respected around the league, but I don't think an upcoming potential top OC would want to deal with that. Too be clear though, I have no problem with a head coach wanting the team to be run his way. He is the head coach. He should want it run the way he thinks it should be run. I also think that a coach should identify what is the right way. I don't think McD has. Yes, I think we need to be more effective running the football and have the capability to do so when needed. Yes, I think Josh needs to be smarter on some runs. Yes, I think Josh needs to be smarter with the football. No, I don't think those things are being taught properly. For all we know McD might not even be here next season. If he is, he might just hand Joe B. the job if he does well and all this might be moot. Personally, I think this would be the right year to move on from McD if it is even on the fence. We have to retool next season and it's better a new coach gets to do that in his vision than having to come in here with another coaches vision on the roster. -
McDermott weird comments about Josh Allen
Scott7975 replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thats part of Dorsey's problem. He doesn't seem to know how to identify what players do well and how to utilize that. He may know his X's and O's but he doesn't seem to have a feel for it. -
McDermott weird comments about Josh Allen
Scott7975 replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
I read McD hopes Josh Allen gets back to the old Josh Allen. Personally I always felt that McD is at least partially responsible for the new Josh Allen. I'm getting a little senile, but I could have sworn I made a comment about this. A little differently I think but basically the same meaning and you told me of course people would want to be OC here. Did you change your thought on that? -
Yeah, Brady is not going to change this over night on a short week. All he really needs to do is get Josh to understand clear reads on some concepts. Look for this, if it isn't there then take the checkdown or run the ball. Thats really it. That should be enough against the Jets. I think maybe put Josh under center more often too so his drop timing lines up with the receiver routes.
-
Can we beat the Jets without looking terrible all game first? I addressed the "room for error" remark in the post. But I will address it further... that "room for error" is based off assuming a couple teams completely crap the bed without their QB. They could also sneak a couple wins that makes that 2 game error room non existent.
-
-
I'm not. It's just a game the Bills do have to win if we lose to Philly and KC.
-
I did the same thing. Just picked games as I think the teams would win. There were a few I picked that wasn't sure of but picked one. The Bills had to beat the Jets, Chargers, Cowboys, and Miami. Loss to Philly and KC. The Bills really have zero room for error. I know I say that and show two losses but they can still easily lose to Chargers, Cowboys and Miami. Anyone of those are losses, then we aint making it. Im sure you could play around and sub one of those teams for Philly and or KC but... we need to win and win almost all of them against a gauntlet.

I'd like to say that the billsy thing to happen would be the Bills backing into a WC with utter luck and some team collapses and then go on the road in all 3 games and get to the SB. Likely the billsy thing to actually happen is the Bills don't make the playoffs at all, Miami gets really hot in the playoffs and all the balls bounce their way. Miami goes on to win a SB in Tua's first full season as a starter. Meanwhile, we are stuck with McD another year to waste Josh Allen some more while they reload the defense with draft picks and whatever little FA money they happen to find.
-
Which is why I said it doesn't really apply in this case.
-
Not really. At least one of the north teams will likely get a wc spot. Burrow is out and Watson is out. Browns still have defense and a good run game. No idea how their backup QB is. Pittsburg has been playing well enough to win games and they got the Bengals twice still with no Burrow. Pitts probably gets one of the WC spots. That leaves two spots in a congested AFC. Browns still have 2 less losses than we do. Texans have been playing well and have 1 less loss. Colts, Raiders, Bengals, Chargers, Jets, Broncos all have the same amount of losses as we do. I don't know how the Raiders are ahead of us in the seeding with the same record and we have the head to head but they are. We hold tie breakers over pretty much no one right now. Chargers if we win? Tie with Jets if we win? The WC race is too tight. Either Miami falls off and we get the division back by miracle or we probably are not making the playoffs. I started another thread about this before the Broncos game. It just isn't likely. We are already praying other teams lose with 7 games left to play (some 😎

how often do players have full practice and get a questionable designation? There is something to this in some situations. A lot of times a QB comes in for an injured guy and looks better than he is because nobody prepared for it and don't know the tendencies. In this case its a guy we have seen before in our own division so I don't think that applies.

Obviously the problem is McKenzie is no longer here. He is the guy that brought fun. No more karaoke during practice for these guys. That and Josh doesn't even do the handshakes anymore -
I'll just add this to this thread.

Its more than the last half of the season. Its not a restricted sample size. It's the last 6 games out of 10. It's called showing a trend. Its exactly why I said in my post "If it were just a game here and there that would be one thing, but it's not. Its 6 straight games of poor offense." They still had poor offense in those two games. If our offense scored 6 points all game and the defense gave up a TD on the last drive of the game after shutting the team out all game. that would be the same saying "the offense put us in position to win." Doesn't mean the offense played good. If the offense wouldn't punt the football and turn it over all game the defense wouldn't be put in that position. It sucks the D couldn't close out. They should be able to but if not for that same D, we would have been blown out those games because the offense wasn't even moving the ball most of the game. When they did, they turned it over. I don't care about last year. I care about this year. Why you are showing me sample size from last year, I don't know. What Kurt and you are talking about is not the same thing as I am talking about. You seem awfully too upset over some guy you don't know getting fired. Regardless of who you want to fault, the facts are that this offense wasn't working and its the coaches job to get it to work. If he can't then he needs to be replaced by someone who can. There is enough talent on this offense to get it to work.

Over the last 6 weeks we are averaging 20.5 ppg which is around 20th. That 26.2 ppg is inflated by just a few games earlier in the season. We have been on a bad stretch of offense for 6 weeks now. If it were just a game here and there that would be one thing, but it isn't. Its 6 games straight and thats on the soft part of our schedule where we needed to stack wins. Thats a clear slide. I heard an interesting thing today. Dorsey's offense only has 4 formations. They only run 2 plays out of most of those formations. That makes this offense entirely practicable and easy to defend. You can tell what play just by tendencies. That makes it extremely difficult for an offense to succeed and expects them to be perfect all the time. They hardly ever even motion and rank I think it was 28th in the league using motion. There is no real scheme to get guys open. It's just line up and beat your man all the time.
