  1. Cant got wrong with them in my experience. Great dogs.
  2. Yeah....the research is consuming a lot my my time. I think we have a few in mind. I'm learning about the early neurological stimulation which I never heard about before. I see the claimed benefits, but haven't really dug into that much. Most of the dogs I've seen that are exposed to it are at least an additional cost of $800.
  3. I always kind of chuckled at the fence thing as well. I'm not sure if the point is for exercise or protection, so the dog doesn't escape and run off. I was amazed at some of the questions I had to answer on the breeder websites before they would even respond. Questions about property, household inhabitants, other pets, etc....funny thing is I don't remember any questions when we decided to have kids, but this dog is a whole nother level.
  4. Thanks. I'm in Pennsylvania. We're looking at breeders in PA, MD, Jersey so far.
  5. Thanks for the feedback. At this point I decided not to go with an adult rescue. My kids are both still fairly young and I just feel more comfortable getting puppy and letting it grow up around them and where I can do the training. I know most rescues are ok, but I just don't want to take the chance of of not knowing their history.
  6. So we're in the market for a new dog and it's become a lot more complicated than I remember when we bought our first one. We bought our first dog, a golden retriever, from a local breeder about 12 years ago. We really didn't do any research and pretty much looked in the paper went to the farm and picked him out. He was an awesome dog who was around before my kids, then proceeded to grow up with them. He went on to heaven a few months ago and we just started looking at dogs again. We're going with another golden, but I've been doing a lot more research and found it to be more complicated now that I know about the certifications, bloodlines, etc...My main concern is health, I'm certainly not going to show him/her anywhere. As I mentioned earlier, our first dog lived to 11, which is average for a golden, and we paid $325 for him at the time with no guarantees on health or anything of that nature. Now, I'm looking at dogs between $900 -$3500, which I think is insane. Does anyone have any experience with with breeders or any recommendations on whether the extra money is for lineage and certifications is worth it with regards to health, temperament and training?
  7. I dont find him personable. You can take it whatever direction you want. Maybe he's not a jerk, who knows he's just doesn't seem like someone I'd want to hang around and have a good time.
  8. This story seems to come up every now and again. This came to light again when the #metoo movement was in full swing. Is there something new that's happened?
  9. Why? He doesn't seem very personable to me?
  10. That's the thing. People complain, like it's so easy to get a good QB. For every Mahomes (and it's still early, but he looks like the real deal) there are ~20-30 Winstons and Marriotas. We've been in purgatory for quite some time, but I'm confident we've found our guy in Allen.
  11. Dude....we're pretty much exactly on the same page. We got up there early Thursday AM. Like 5 or 6, but didn't get in until around 9 or 10. I didn't poop until I got home Monday night and it was one of the worst pains I've ever experienced. Like you I didn't hardly eat the entire time, so I guess it could have been worse. Again like you, I'm pushing 40, so its probably not something I'd do again unless I could guarantee some decent food, accommodations, and facilities.
  12. So damn good. I may have to put on the headphones after everyone goes to bed and drift away. Hahaha....you're right. He looks like a cross between Tommy Chong and the troll meme face.
  13. Yeah yeah yeah Mahomes is good, but he also has a pretty fantastic supporting cast on the offensive side of the ball. I guarantee he wouldn't have the same numbers on any other team save for maybe the Rams and Saints.
  14. These pictures never cease to amaze me. How desperate must one be to resort to these ladys of the night.
  15. Ahhh.....the old "I'm just holding them for a friend" story.
  16. One of my most vivid memories was was seeing the porta johns overflowing by the 2nd or 3rd day.
  17. I hope it's better organized than Woodstock '99. That was a frigging disaster.
  18. I just wrote it off as a couple of rough trips down the water slide.
  19. It was on a ship. 3 dudes in speedos on a ship deck. Honestly though, I think they could have gotten better dudes. One guy looks like he is recovering from a gunshot wound or appendectomy.
  20. It's funny you mention Jameson. I can probably count on one had the number of times I've had it. Two of those times were within the last month and one was within the last week. Generally I'm a crown royal guy if I'm drinking whiskey. I like crown apple as well, but that may be frown upon by true whiskey afficianodos.
  21. I think this may be the first time in all my years I've ever heard whiskey used as a method to stay sober. Whatever works for ya?
  22. I'm a sucker for free drinks.
  23. Could be worse. I was targeted with ads for gay cruises on the Miami Hurricanes board that I frequent.
