  1. @Gugny @ExWNYer That story reminded me a little of Nelson Figueroa. I always liked that dude and wished the Mets gave him a little more of a chance than they seemed too. Anyone catch the Strawberry retirement number yesterday? I missed being a Mets fan during his tenure with the team but retiring his and Doc's numbers seems more like a way to appease a certain amount of the fanbase. I just think they could have been a lot more than what they were with the team and I remember them more as Yankees than Mets. But it seemed yesterday Daryl kind of admitted as much apologizing for how thinks could have been different.
  2. Well the casino is on hold for now https://www.nj.com/sports/2024/05/mets-owner-steve-cohens-first-big-move-of-season-gets-blocked.html?outputType=amp It’ll take more than one win to get back on board paying attention to the team on the field. See how it all plays out
  3. Super Bowl 25. I just turned 7 but I remember my dad rooting for the Bills because he liked the city of Buffalo a lot as well as Buffaloians. He ironically isn’t or wasn’t a big football fan. So primarily cause of him.
  4. By good I mean it’s certainly at the very least expected the team will make the playoffs and win the AFC East. I seem to now really only follow the main headlines around the team like the Coleman pick. Or stuff that might help or not help get the team over the top. During the Jauron/Gailey/Marrone years I’d look at the roster top to bottom in the offseason and look for ways the team could improve. Follow more rounds in the draft and the Bills choices, etc..,. But I guess for some fans trying to win the Super Bowl provides extra incentive to still follow closely what goes on?
  5. My inner Beavis and Butthead had to notice Anus is in his last name. For the story it seems appropriate for this dude
  6. Sexy Rex- he couldn’t back up his personality. More annoyingly he just didn’t put the time and effort into wanting to win. Kelvin Benjamin and Mario Williams drove me nuts
  7. Bad things?
  8. It’s something as a kid I knew existed but never took seriously. Paul Phieffer from The Wonder Years was like the stereotype I had of allergy sufferers. Some years ago someone at work noticed I cleared my throat a lot and actually asked me that question if I had any. I still didn’t take it seriously but it made me wonder. I finally did see a specialist to find stuff I’m allergic too. I found out pollen…. It’s been kicking my butt of late.
  9. One of my first bosses was a big Bengals fan. During the interview I noticed he had lots of Bengals memorabilia in his office. So I mentioned liking the Bills and we kind of hit it off a bit after that. It was when both teams were both bad so we had some fun. I got the job afterwards. I’ll still say that will probably be the easiest job interview I’ll ever have the pleasure of going on.
  10. I loved the use of Heart of the Sunrise and Sweetness by Yes in Buffalo 66
  11. @Gugny @SinceThe70s @ExWNYer I took a ride out this weekend to Cleveland to meet up with @BarleyNY and we saw Monday night's game. Good times despite the poor on the field product the Mets put out. Cleveland is a nice city. I was surprised at the game there was a good number of Mets fans. I'd venture 25% of the fans there. That and the fact that Lindor was actually greeted warmly by the Guardian fans. I was expected him to be booed. Going to a game in Cincy last year and Cleveland this year I'm becoming more aware other teams in other cities have more attractions around the stadium in terms of bars and restaurants within walking distance. Jack's casino downtown in Cleveland is a short walk to Progressive Field and there are a number of bars/restaurants near by within walking distance. Citifield has the Flushing Meadows park near by but not a lot else to offer. Years back I ventured a couple of blocks away from Citifield in Flushing out of curiosity.... it looked kind of sketchy there. I would not be surprised if those garages across the street there are scrapping stolen cars for parts. Maybe besides the on the field product this is something Cohen will look into more as owner.... building more attractions near by. As far as the Mets goes we all kind of knew this year and there's a good chance next year will be a wash. But I mean there's really not much going on at the moment to hang your hat on. I'm thinking Big Pete and Diaz get traded or leave. I'd certainly rather spend my $$$ to see the team in Cleveland vs NY.
  12. Sadly it seems it's not cautious driving anymore just to wait a few seconds to go after the light turns green if you are the 1st car.
  13. General consensus drivers have gotten way worse in the last 20 years?
  14. Under Rex he wouldn’t have been the best but easily the most exciting QB in the league. Think of Randall Cunningham under his dad. Rex would prob just let him do his thing since “his specialty” was defense. Under Gailey he would have been lethal as well
  15. I say on the Welcome to Buffalo signs they should highlight the Bandits success. Even as someone from NJ who doesn’t follow or ever played lacrosse…. It’s a cool story
  16. The Mets should sign him
  17. I might have heard of them before your thread but my knowledge of the team and league is zilch. That being said I did a little research on the league itself. I feel like it might have some old school sports charm in that the players are most likely doing it as a labor of love. Being what google has as the average salary for players in the league the players must all have other jobs in the offseason. Especially if they have a family. But pro baseball and football was like that at one time way way way back as well. I think the Browns even have the numbers retired of some players that died in the off season doing other jobs. The league isn't my thing and most likely won't ever be. That being said I never played lacrosse. And I don't dismiss the league at all.
  18. On the bright side at least they won tonight. But yeah Diaz isnt instilling much faith in me either. While I don’t hate the Phillies as much as the average Met fan does, a 4 game sweep by the Phils coupled with the Rangers winning tonight would have been brutal.
  19. That's a shame and I don't even like Carolina.
  20. When you’re driving down a main road and a car on a side road come to their stop sign at about 100mph looking and feeling like they are going to plow into you. I always fear that person just ain’t stoping. Being tailgated or passed on a double lined road.
  21. Unless you happen to run into Mike Piazza 😅….. I think he’s a coach of Team Italy the last I heard in baseball? Enjoy the trip
