  1. Derrick Carr had a video analysis saying something similar, but he blamed the Bills coaches for not being ready for this and having a game plan. Although it also looked like Allen should have read some of these coverages and hit the right route. I'm not sure Allen has the discipline to do the film work required to consistently analyze and recognize coverage tendencies, or maybe Dorsey is holding him back from doing this more independently and with more responsibility (and time) to check at the line. Or maybe Allen is so dependent on Diggs that he latches on to that first read too long. probably some combo of the three.
  2. Imagine what Josh would do with that lineup - a strong group of pass catchers and runners. Good Oline. Beane has focused too much on D (Von contract, Basham, Epenesa picks) at the expense of the O
  3. Only if Beane wakes up and trades for some talent
  4. Agree. it was a major part of our O. critical weapon for getting 1st downs. It also got Josh in the game and gave him passion, got him in a rhythm. Daboll understood that. Dorsey doesn't
  5. Dorsey sucks. But the WRs suck too. Josh needs a reliable outlet on every play, to account for blitzes. It used to be Beasely, every friggin play. Now, I'm not sure. Hopefully Kincaid can get there. You need to make teams pay for blitzing. Then, you need some real downfield and YAC threats. The talent at pass catcher is really bad.
  6. I tend to agree. As much as I'd still like to see us go all-in this year and get Josh some more weapons, we have a number of D starters that are on the wrong side of their career. We need our draft picks (even though Beane largely wastes them).
  7. I was just thinking this. I remember when the K-Gun started. It was a similar dynamic. The O was consistently humming in 2-min hurry up and middling the rest of the time. Marchibroda made the call to let Kelly go hurry up full-time. I think Dorsey is hamstringing this team and we might try a mix up that lets Josh start cooking and get into a rhythm
  8. Diggs has been playing a lot of slot this year, partially serving in that Beasley go-to role on 3rd down. I'm not sure why other guys like Harty or Shakir haven't emerged, but Allen just doesn't seem to trust them, or they just don't get open on the option routes like Cole used to. Cole can probably still do it and would given Allen another outlet. I saw enough juice in the playoff game to think he can still get it done, in a limited fashion, that would benefit the team. Unlike the Giants we don't really have a youth movement at WR and we're in win now mode. https://www.buffalobills.com/video/cole-beasley-takes-allen-s-quick-pass-for-29-yards-bills-vs-dolphins-playoffs \
  9. questionable call, esp considering he passed on opportunities earlier in the game and last week to let Bass try one from 50+. If you don't try then, why at the end of the game when the result of missing is worse?
  10. You're right. He ran 4.45 at the combine. He's actually a Diggs clone, but w/o the proven production.
  11. Jeudy would bring a speed element we really don't have. I'm also not sure Gabe has earned a lucrative new contract. I think it would make sense to bring him in for a 4th, that's about it. I'd also kick the tires on Hunter Renfrow. Harty and Shakhir don't have that reliable slot maven ability. Renfrow does, or did....
  12. to recreate the 2021 offense, we need to add more weapons at WR. that team had Diggs, Emmanuel Sanders, Beasely, and Gabe. I don't think Harty, Sheffield and Shakir are good enough. And Gabe could be complemented/pushed by another boundary target with speed. There are guys available for trade that could push the Offense over the top
  13. That's not the take away at all. The take away from this game is that Josh needs better coaching and skilled players.
  14. and to think we could have drafted Breece Hall instead..... at some point Beane and/or whoever runs college scouting needs to pay the price
  15. McD coached like he was jet lagged. Conservative, low energy left and right. did nothing to inject a sense of urgency into the team
  16. Allen used to overthrew these regularly. He seems to have corrected that to err on the side of giving the WR a chance to make a play. But it seems to be a little too cautious now. He needs to find the right balance
  17. Dorsey is a bad fit for Josh. He needs an OC that will reign him in and not give him the opportunity to make stupid plays at bad moments. I wish it wasn't true, but Josh needs constant coaching. He's not the QB that can thrive and win with just any old OC.
  18. Gabe is pretty much a one-trick pony WR. He shouldn't really be a #2 in an offense that is constantly going to be playing against 2 high safety zone looks. His routes are not crisp enough to win underneath and to reliably find the holes in the zone. He will do fine against teams with lesser personnel than the Jets or when teams play man, but OBD should have known this is not the trend for how Defenses are playing us and found a better fit for #2. Josh still misses a reliable underneath guy like Beasley. Cole had 82 catches on 112 targets in 2021. That was never reliably replaced last year (Davis had 48 catches. Unless Kincaid turns it on, it seems Josh doesn't really trust anyone underneath. It's pretty much the same as last year - Diggs or bust. Josh went from an established vet WR corps of Diggs, Emmanuel Sanders, and Beasley to Diggs, Gabe, Shakhir, and Harty. It's not a shock that he's struggling with the underneath stuff. OBD made a mistake not addressing #2.
  19. There have definitely been some questionable decisions the past few years. 1. Not making more of an effort to get a MLB replacement (drafting Bernard, Dorian, no FAs, etc...) 2. No real competition for Spencer Brown 3. Not getting a better WR #2 complement 4. Investing so much draft and FA capital in our D line rotation at the expense of other position groups (See above). (Why is D-line the only group that needs to rotate constantly?) the trading up and sacrificing picks every year starts to catch up to you. Not hitting on draft picks in rounds 1-3 makes it worse
  20. Dude works out (probably hard) in morning on an empty stomach. Then doesn't eat anything until 4pm and it's skittles...??? You try that. He's intermittent fasting for a good 18hrs, which kicks his metabolism into overdrive. And best time to burn fat (as opposed to carbs) from a workout is early morning on an empty stomach. He must eat a mean, protein filled dinner though. Don't get the skittles part either....
  21. T was great. Beautiful deep ball, exciting runner. He's easily in the top echelon from the past 20 years. Fitz gets more love b/c he gives it back. I don't think Tryod has expressed his love for B-lo in the same way. But T is way over Losman, EJ Manuel, Captain check-down and other duds from the 17 years of futility
  22. Take J Allen out of the mix and we're middle of the pack He elevates the entire roster in ways only a couple of QBs can (Mahomes, ....)
  23. It's concerning that only 2 of those were from last year and both early in the year. I hope Allen hasn't peaked. Last year was not up to his standards.
  24. It's about matchups. When a team is in 11 personnel (1TE) and 3 WRs - we are in nickel with Milano lined up over the TE. That means the other LB is a MLB (Klein??) If a team is 12 personnel (2TE) - if we stay in nickel we'll get crushed in the run game. Ideally with Williams/Bernard we can play 3LBs and still cover 2TEs and defend better against the run. Still need a MLB, but maybe a traditional, larger MLB is not as good as two speedier coverage LBs (to go along with Milano). If a team goes 4 WRs, 1TE - we go dime with Milano the lone LB Maybe it shakes out that we only end playing against 11 with a MLB, or heavier goaline configurations part of the time, given the trend toward 2TE sets in the division/leagues. So Klein will only see the field 25% of the time anyways. ...
