Pretty mediocre 1st half for Lamar. Not even looking at stats but he's gotta be below 50% passing. Announcers sure sound like they want to give him the MVP, though.

Kinda sucks because originally I thought they talked about a 4th for Gabe.

Anyone interested in watching a pretty good discussion by 2 pretty thoughtful Football guys, watch Robert Mayes and Derek Classon talk about Lamar vs Josh. Both say it's basically a coin flip but Mayes makes the Josh argument and it's centered around the WR separation argument Dan Orlovsky brought up earlier this week... except Mayes spent some time actually going back and watching every single throw by both QBs. He brings up several other interesting metrics, too. MVP conversation starts at 1:05 and is about 15 minutes long;

That was in 2017. She wasn't alone in that reaction in real time. That included a LOT of Bills fans. I was one of them. Holding that against her rather than seeing her 180 on Allen is pretty unfair.

She was anti Allen early, but I don't think that's true anymore. I generally like listening to her. She's pretty thoughtful about her Football takes. With that said, one thing surprised and annoyed me in her "case" for Lamar. She compared Interceptions among the 3 primary QB contenders, but Foxworth asked directly about total turnovers including fumbles because doesn't Lamar have a good amount of fumbles? She proceeds to say that's a good point and that she'd have to look that up (I guess Google was unavailable at that time) and skirted past it. This has ALWAYS been my biggest issue in the Josh vs Lamar MVP discussion, especially in the last 2 years. Lamar is a fumble machine and Allen has seriously cleaned up that aspect of his game. Total turnovers over last 2 years when factoring in fumbles: 2023 Allen: 22 Lamar: 13 2024 Allen: 8 Lamar: 9 Yet evidently voters aren't paying attention to lost fumbles. Couple notes... last season Josh had 44 total TDs and Lamar had 29. The Bills were also still the 2 seed last year and the Ravens won't be better than the 3. I actually thought and still think Josh was more deserving last year based on historical precedent. Now with the new precedent they set of giving it to him last year (almost unanimously, btw), I fear they'll move the goalposts again

Mina Kimes is one of the MVP voters. On her show today she and Dominique Foxworth "debated" the MVP. Didn't sound at all like a debate. At the end she said unless Lamar lays a dud this weekend, Lamar is her vote.

Yes. When he's on the field he's clearly making an impact. Obviously. You're being stubborn if you don't think so. He played 14 snaps against the Jets. In those 14 snaps he had a sack, a QB hit, and one TFL between his 2 tackles. Against Kansas City in the biggest game of the season he did the exact same thing. He's played 35% of snaps this season and in the snaps he's actually on the field you can feel his impact in almost every game he's played. He's obviously not living up to his Contract and isn't Prime Von Miller, but he's MUCH more impactful than you insisted he would be in the offseason.

I dunno man... I think you need to just acknowledge you were wrong at this point and leave it at that. Regardless, Von was really brought in as the "closer" for the playoffs. Let's see what he accomplishes there

Lamar is having a great year, but so is Allen. And the problem here is that any distance between Lamar and Josh interms of stats this year was far exceeded by the distance between them last year when Lamar won despite having significantly fewer TDs and yards. And the turnover conversation even from last year is ridiculous. Why does the national media completely ignore Jackson's serious fumbling issues??? I guess the only way I could understand it not being given to Josh is if he goes out and lays a complete egg tomorrow and then the following week. Even then, should probably still go to JA17

Then root for Denver to beat the Bengals. You should care more about making sure we DON'T face the Bengals than facing the Colts. The only 2 WC contenders that scare me are the Bengals and Dolphins, both for obvious reasons

No way. Root for LA to lose if you want to see the Colts get in. The Bengals are the ONE team still amongst the WC contenders (distantly) any Bils fan should obviously not want. They lose 1 and they're out.

Allen has really cleaned up his ball security as far as fumbling goes. Allen only has 2 lost fumbles to Lamar's 5. And overall (recovered and lost) Lamar has 10 fumbles to Allen’s 5. 9 turnovers for Lamar. 8 turnovers for Josh.

I don't know man... Von has been exponentially better than you said he'd be in the offseason when you essentially said he was a replacement level player. As for pressures, according to PFF right now he has 30 pressures in 262 snaps. And if he does end up with 2 sacks in the final 2 weeks he would have met whatever criteria you were referring to while missing 4 games.

Is 6 sacks what we agreed on? I didn't realize we agreed on any metric, I was referring to your "5 percent chance..." comment. I'm sure you remember that one. And also, he may have 4 sacks, but how many pressures does he have? I can think of several occasions he didn't get a sack but he either forced an incompletion or caused a sack for one of his teammates. I listen to a LOT of different football podcasts (Bills and non-Bills... he was one of the studs for Joe Marinothis week in his All-22 review) and repeatedly they talk about pressures being more indicative of the pass rushers. And then there's what he's been doing in the run game.

Anyone watching that game could tell Von was CONSTANTLY getting quick pressure. Here's the problem... the quickest pressure can be negated by a QB who can quickly diagnose the D and release the ball. Drake Maye looked like a 10 year vet in that game save a few plays. His average release time was 1.94 seconds. That's INSANE!!! Go watch Joe Marino's All-22 breakdown for further clarification.
