  1. I'm assuming someone already posted this, but he's #42 on Mayock's top 100 and #43 on Jeremiah's top 50... and just look at Jeremiah's description of him: Phillips is a powerful defensive tackle with excellent production and a non-stop motor. He dominates against the run. He jolts blockers with a quick, explosive punch before locating the football and collecting tackles. He understands blocking schemes, routinely defeating double-teams with his quickness and awareness. His lateral range is exceptional and he never seems to tire out despite rarely coming off the field. As a pass rusher, he generates a steady push with his bull rush and flashes a quick slap/swim move. He needs to improve as a finisher. He has some ankle tightness and struggles to flatten out once he gets upfield. Phillips offers immediate value on run downs and I believe he's going to improve as a pass rusher at the next level. He reminds me ofKyle Williams coming out of LSU.
  2. I listened to him and watched him right after the draft. Total jackass. I was really upset the last name Goodell called was "Allen" rather than "Rosen" immediately after at happened. After watching Rosen's interviews, I'm not upset, anymore.
  3. I don't think there was anyone legitimately projecting Manuel as a 1st round prospect. We took Manuel purely for need in one of the weakest QB draft classes in recent history. Almost every NFL evaluator views Allen as a 1st round prospect. And make no mistake about it, Beane has been accumulating these draft picks primarily in order to get his Franchise QB. It's obvious he had a price because he said in his PC yesterday the cost to get up higher than 7 was too high. So trading away future draft picks combined with picks after the 1st round this year seemed off the table. In the end, we traded 2 2nd round picks away in order to get Allen. We only really have 2 gaping holes on this team: MLB and Franchise QB. We got both and will still manage to have 7 picks in this draft by the end of Saturday, assuming we keep the rest of our picks where they are. And ZERO future picks. We can argue all day about other positions, but WR should be better than last year already, not that that's even very difficult. On OL Groy and Bodine probably aren't huge steps back from Wood and Incognito. Dawkin's got another year experience and Mills was better last year than the year before. Glenn never even saw the field last year. RB we've upgraded. TE's the same DE's the same DL we've upgraded CBs are about the same Safety is the same OLB's are about the same Franchise QB is the most important position, and I'm glad Beane traded up for one, even if he's really the guy I didn't want. Those guys get paid to scout these players and know a helluva lot more about them than I do, and the more I look into Allen's kind of unique history and listen to him speak and watch the way he throws and listen to guys like Trent Dilfer and Jordan Palmer talk about him, I think maybe Allen can break the trend of the 1st round true project QB not evolving into Franchise QB. I'm not utterly confident he will, but he's our QB now and I'm liking the kid and his work ethic and his demeaner and his natural ability, so I very much have hope he will. And I'll also say this, when we traded up and I threw my phone because it was Allen and not Rosen, I'm now kinda happy we didn't draft Rosen. I watched and listened to all his interviews after he fell to 10 and the Cardinals drafted him. Holy crap... what a complete jackass!!! That might be the homer in me talking and maybe if the Bills drafted him and he said the same thing, I'd say "I love his competitive fire!!!" but I don't really think so.... he just sounds like a complete dick, and I don't actually think he would have fit in WNY very well.
  4. Really? Manuel always looked almost like a robot throwing the football. Allen looks natural throwing it, he just needs to tighten things up. But Manuel was definitely one of the reasons I didn't want Allen... not that he's the same player, just the same genre: a Project.
  5. Well... the Bills homer glasses are coming on already... so probably for longer than I should Hell, I'm already kinda hoping he beats out McCarron this summer and is the starting QB from week 1, even though intellectually I think he needs to sit for a year. I am fanatic... can't help it
  6. I get it. I don't disagree, for the most part. But to me, intention is everything in respect to even those tweets, IMO. Based on the background of what he said and when he said it, I view it as a forgivable stupid mistake kids are making all too often nowadays because of the trap that Social Media is. Steven A talks about Allen calling him up at 2 AM last night to explain himself:
  7. Apparently his recall is fantastic and he was excellent at the whiteboard with NFL teams damnit!!! damnit!!! damnit!!!
  8. Seriously... and we've all established I have terrible taste in QBs. I liked Edwards and thought he could have been a legit Franchise QB for waaaaaayyyyy too long... I liked Fitz and thought he could have been our long term answer at QB for waaaaaayyyy too long... I liked Manuel and thought he had a chance to be a legit Franchise QB for waaaaaayyyyy too long... I liked Taylor and thought he could have been a legit Franchise QB for waaaaaayyyyy too long... Well, let me ease all of your minds right now because I seriously loathed this pick the moment Goodell said "Allen" rather than "Rosen." I threw my phone... seriously. Luckily, I have a flip phone and those things are TANKS!!! But I've been harping on Allen all offseason as to why he'd be a bust and why we shouldn't draft him. His tweets that surfaced in the last 24 hours made me dislike him even more. I saw the Buffalo trade up to #7 and soooOOOOOooooo expected it to be Rosen. It wasn't. I was massively wrong. And here was my reaction the moment it happened Some of you know I generally loathe memes/GIFs... had to make an exception here. (and in that same spirit, when I saw the Browns draft Mayfield at #1, I really kinda thought Darnold would fall to #4, so when the Jets drafted him...) Anyway, I have a history of being massively wrong about my overall like of QBs in a Buffalo Bills uniform. I will grow to like Allen because I'm a Bills fan and am purely a fan of my team, secondarily the players on my team. So everyone, take solace. I'm super sick about us drafting Allen today... he's going to be AWESOME for us although... I gotta say that all I've been doing since seeing we drafted him was looking at whatever I could find on YouTube... there's the obvious stuff about the tweets, which were offensive, but when seeing the entire background of what was said, the source of what was said, and when it happened, it seems forgivable... almost something that's a little ridiculous. And then I ran into some just background stuff... this one caught my attention It's worth a watch. The kid himself is driven and is going to have a chip on his shoulder for the rest of his life, most likely. Talk about a late bloomer... guess the main reasons he wasn't recruited was that he played somewhere no one from college really recruited and he was considered "small" up at least til his Junior year in HS. So he's been working his @$$ off ever since. Other clips out there are making me at least start to come around, too... OH CRAP!!!! I jinxed him already!!!!

  10. I'm dealing with this. Time to cope. I just can't believe we passed on Rosen, who will probably go to the Dolphins.
  11. Oh boy... all right folks, time to start deluding ourselves. Let's hope this guy overcomes all odds.
  12. AAAHHHHH!!!!!! AAAHHHHH!!!!!! AAAHHHHH!!!!!! AAAHHHHH!!!!!! AAAHHHHH!!!!!! sorry... just needed to get that out of my system
  13. Since Thurm has latched onto Allen... you might be right
  14. FWIW, for everyone saying Lamar is too dumb to play QB in the NFL, Joel Klatt was just on the Herd and said Jackson has been fantastic at the whiteboard with teams in this presser draft process.
  15. I really and truly want to like Allen because I fear we might draft him so I'd like to resign myself to him sooner rather than later. I even decided to watch this 20+ minute interview of Jordan Palmer by Rich Eisen The problem is I come away even from this interview still wanting Darnold a lot more than him and even thinking Kyle Allen in a later round would be a significantly better option than trading up in the 1st round for Josh Allen.
  16. Hunh??? Mike Vick was 6`0, but literally the most athletic QB in NFL history with arguably one of the strongest arms in NFL history. Dan Orlovsky and Sean Mannion were tall, but weren't remotely athletic. Manziel was athletic, but tiny. Just stop. You must be dizzy.
  17. Even if we draft Allen, I'll get excited and get behind him fully eventually, even though I REALLY don't want him right now.
  18. Maybe the Bills asked him to do some smokescreening for them... the Bears did it last year https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/bears-avoided-showing-interest-in-mitchell-trubisky-after-secret-on-campus-workout/ Bears avoided showing interest in Mitchell Trubisky after secret on-campus workout The Bears asked Trubisky not to inform other teams that they'd worked him out for 90 minutes
  19. Yes yes yes yes yes!!! Notice how incredibly "under the radar" Jackson is. I don't want to make any predictions, but seeing Allen fall to 20 something and Jackson go in the top 10 is very much what I believe should happen. I would too.
  20. Very nicely put together. I really think it's highly possible Allen freefalls. But my #1 hope is that Cleveland drafts him at #1 so I don't have to worry about Buffalo drafting him and it leaves all the other good prospects on the board.
  21. I share your feelings about Eli Manning. I've always thought he was vastly overrated... even with his 2 Super Bowl MVPs. However, despite sharing that opinion with you, I think Gettleman has a different one and really has no intention to draft a QB. I think he's a lot higher on Eli Manning than you or I are. And scooping up plenty of draft picks would help him to provide weapons and protection for that hopelessly immobile QB who's already proven twice he can play at a high level on the biggest stage.
  22. It's possible they could be in love with 2 or 3 non-QBs. Barkley, Chubb and Nelson are the 3 prospects who are being talked about as the best prospects in this draft. All 3 are positions of need for the Giants. They could easily realize they're going to get one of those 3 guys if they drop back to 5 or 6 and also get a bunch of other picks that are going to provide starters immediately to help the Giants and Eli Manning win now. Eli Manning hasn't signaled he wants to retire and while I've never been really high on him as a QB myself, him and the Giants sucking last year really wasn't because age is physically degrading him. He's 37, and 40 is the new 35 for QBs... at least that's the way I think Gettleman is viewing this QB decision.
  23. Love the breakdowns. Very thorough. As long as it's one of those top 4, not Allen, I'm happy
