  1. It's kind of an angry love... but he just hasn't been able to quit me for years now.
  2. Except for the fact that you simply can't definitively say that because I highly doubt you actually scrutinized every single pass of every single QB or watched every single Allen pass at least a handful of times. Deep down in your gut, you know that what you're saying is based on just that, your gut.... "this is the national narrative, so it must be true!!!" Come back to me when you've watched every single pass of all those QBs at least once.
  3. First of all, I don't think Danys is a villain. But as far as the remaining protagonists go, she's the last person I want to see on the throne. Tyrion, Arya, Jon Snow, Sansa, THEN Daenerys is the order for me. Tyrion's way ahead of the pack. Arya next, but she's a longshot--though Varys's comments in the last episode about how it might be best to have someone on the throne who doesn't want the throne combined with Arya telling Gendry she's not a Lady and doesn't want to be has me wondering. Jon and Sansa are basically a tie for me. All of them I would like. Like I said before, I hated the Daenerys storyline in the book and it hasn't changed much in the show. All the peripheral characters in her story have always been more interesting. Khal Drogos, Ser Jorah, Greworm, Missandre... I like all these characters more than her. Yes, she suffered, but in the very beginning of the series for a brief time at the hands of her brother, who she had killed, and Khal Drogos, who she fell in love with. Then she walked into a fire and got 3 Dragons. It's not the same as the other characters and I just don't want to see her sitting on the throne at the end. Just my opionion.
  4. Are you doing all games for every QB? What's your methodology? Are you able to post any of your comparative numbers? Sounds interesting... let us know what you come up with!
  5. I honestly wasn't even aware of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. I might have to check that one out.
  6. She just has to die a slow and painful death at this point. It'd be such a letdown if she didn't. Are you reading the prequel Martin wrote that came out a few months ago? The one that takes place hundreds of years before GoT and I think centers on the Targaryens? I'm curious about how that book is and whether Martin is making that into a series, too.
  7. The books are written as you might expect, where each chapter (sometimes very long chapter) is dedicated to a particular character. In fact, from what I recall each chapter is actually titled the character who it'll dive into. Any time the story centered around Winterfell, Castle Black, beyond the Wall with the Wildlings, or King's Landing, I loved it. I found it pretty easy reading because of how invested I was in the characters. I really didn't like Dany's storyline in the book and I didn't like her. I've felt the same in the show, too. It's why I hope she dies. But so in the books when it would go to her storyline, I would lose some interest. Part of the reason is because for the first half of the series, she's not in Westeros, so she's largely disconnected from the rest of the storyline and characters. I read the first 3 books in their entirety, bought the 4th book, got maybe halfway through, and stopped. In the 4th book they just started bringing in these new characters when they went to Dorne (I think) and I was already so invested in the others that I was kinda irritated Martin brought in these other distractions from Jon Snow and Tyrion. I also think the 4th book lost some steam much like the series for me because the 3rd book was the Red Wedding, which was also epic and unpredictable in the books. Tyrion's even better in the books. I didn't read far enough to actually get to it, but I know the show left out a really important twist involving Cat Stark... and I wonder why it chose to do that. But honestly, I'll never read the rest of the books and I actually question whether Martin even writes the 7th.
  8. True, but nothing tops killing off Cat and Robb Stark, King of the North... along with his pregnant wife in such a gruesome manner. I don't know if any death even coming up can top that.
  9. Minor character. The death was gruesome, but who cared about that guy?
  10. Nonononononononono... This is a moment where I'll simply encourage you to actually go watch Jackson's snaps with the Ravens and then Allen's with the Bills. Allen was running for his life because of horrible OL play. The VAST majority of his runs and rushing yards came on passing plays. And yes, of course you could find plays where he bailed early, but MOST of them were him making lemonade out of lemons. Jackson, by contrast, was in an offensive system that set him off running on designed runs the vast majority of the time. And even many of his passing plays were getting him on the run rolling out to one side of the field in an effort to fake that he was going to run. The distinction between the 2 is absolutely fair. Jackson had loads more work to do in the offseason if he's going to become a long term pocket passer than Allen did. See above. No double standards here. Jackson just had waaaAAAaaaayyyy more designed runs than Allen. I have the actual numbers somewhere distinguishing between designed runs and scrambles, if you want them.
  11. He's also the best of the characters in the books, too. For me it's been since the Red Wedding, but mainly because there's just no way to top that in terms of sheer visceral unpredictable tragedy.
  12. It's a paid subscription website so I just posted that snippet so as not to violate CoC. The rest of the interview talks about maturity and other stuff.
  13. I love that it looks more and more like Dany dies. Her whole storyline always irritated me in the books when Martin left Westeros to her. And sorry, but she's just the least deserving of the Iron Throne among those still in the running to get it. Tyrion is smarter and much more the diplomat. Sansa has the nobility of her father she witnessed combined with the atrocities of her own experiences to bring her some ruthlessness, survival skills, and the ability to read and question people's motives. Arya is Arya.... a mothertruckin bad@$$!!! Jon Snow is absolutely everything, including the rightful heir, which is why he likely dies. Dany's an entitled snot... once you discard the whole being sold to Khal Drogos as a teenager by her brother... but things even worked out well for her there. Kill her off and let a Stark sit on the Iron Throne... it's been destined since the beginning of the very first book/episode.
  14. Interesting interview with multiple Qs and As, but here's the most relevant one: https://www.google.com/amp/s/theathletic.com/962885/2019/05/06/a-j-blum-qa-ed-olivers-longtime-coach-on-his-fit-with-buffalo-and-those-crazy-maturity-questions/%3famp The Bills have said they are going to make him a three-technique in their defense. How do you think he’ll transition to that? What are some of the challenges that come with that move? I think it’s going to be amazing. I had been telling Ed all along after the pro day, seeing the head coach and GM at his pro day, I was like, wow, this is the real deal. I went back and did some research and I had been telling Ed all along that from a scheme standpoint of every team that’s interested in you, Buffalo is probably the best fit. When we were in high school, I called 46 games with Ed playing three-technique or 2i, basically what he’s going to be playing in Buffalo. It’s going to be amazing. It just is. You can say all you want about him playing the zero-technique in the three down that we had at Houston, but he was very active. He stunted probably 70 percent of the time. I think the thing that’s going to be awesome is you’re not going to have to stunt him as much because he’s going to be on the outside shoulder or inside shoulder of that guard, and it’s going to allow him to really use his skills in a one-on-one situation. I’m sure he’ll get his fair share of double teams, but it will be a lot less than he got at Houston. I think it’s going to be amazing. I know he’s excited. I think it’s going to be really good. From a standpoint of what he needs to get better at, he is such a natural with his speed and explosiveness that a lot of times he defeats blocks by his get off, not so much side-stepping his blocker but by being a penetrator. When you’re a penetrator, you don’t necessarily have the use of great hand placement and block disengagement, but he’s going to be in situations, where that’s going to be one of the biggest things. Having worked with him for seven years, that’s going to be one of the biggest things he’ll have to refine as a skill, is just staying on that edge and being able to get off that block. People want to compare him to Aaron Donald, but he and Aaron Donald are two completely different players. Aaron Donald bench-pressed 550 pounds in college. That’s why he’s so good at getting off blocks. He gets that separation and he can still control and get off blocks. A guy like Ed, he’s punching a guy so fast and moving by him that he was able to get away with it. That’s going to be one of the biggest things that he’s going to have refine. Attack, lock out and then disengage. Just getting off those blocks. His feet are going to be great. His speed is going to be great. It’s just about controlling it and staying in that gap.
  15. And let's hope Zay is much better and Foster keeps improving. I think cutting Clay was ultimately addition by subtraction.
  16. These are NFL Wide Receivers. Aside from me asking if you watched that 5 minute youtube drop video and sincerely thought most of those passes were dropped because the ball was thrown too hard and lacked touch, I'd just say that they're friggin NFL Wide Receivers who should be able to catch a damn ball that they get their hands on. His completion percentage does need to improve, obviously, but it's more a product of the talent around him and decision making on his part than it is his actual accuracy.
  17. Geez... are these people like just watching last season or something???? First the PFF thread acknowledges Allen had the 2nd highest drop rate in the NFL... duuuuhhhh! Now this article arguing it in an actual article. Been arguing since the season ended that Allen's completion percentage was less a product of him than the talent surrounding him. I guess better late to the party than not showing up at all.
  18. Zay was one of the most sure handed college WRs coming out. Needless to say, he was NOT that in the NFL for his 1st year. Personally, I would ideally like to see Zay keep Beasley off the field as our 4th WR and have Brown and Foster as our #1 and #2 (In whichever order) and Jones in the slot. Beane has a lot of confidence in him... that much is undeniable.
  19. Of those 7 blowout losses, 2 were in Josh Allen's first 3 starts after a Summer rotating reps between Peterman and McCarron and 4 were with either Peterman or Anderson starting. The other was against the Patriots in New England. And it was a 12 point loss. The Jets and Dolphins have new Head Coaches and their 2nd year QBs will be learning a new system in their 2nd year. Allen will be running the exact same offensive system under the same coaches. Sure, the Patriots improved, but Brady's another year older and you could see him declining a bit last year, in spite of the Super Bowl win. I don't agree. Next year we take the division and get a home playoff game.
  20. It'd be great if he could live up to his potential, but also stay out of trouble the way Josh Gordon couldn't.
  21. This is great stuff!!! Clearly Oliver was the guy they were enamored with, but based on the "at that point (Jones pick) we knew we wouldn't trade down" comment, Beane and Co. clearly valued AT LEAST 3 of the remaining guys worthy or more than worthy of the 9th overall pick. Biggest thing I'm seeing is there was some legit effort to trade up into the 1st for Ford. Also, those guys like MMA.
  22. Pretty cool stuff. Any doubts about whether the Bills wanted Hockenson over Oliver here in any way are very obviously put to rest. Sorry if this has already been posted... tried searching and couldn't find it.
  23. I finally had the time to watch the episode so I turned down the lights and did it knowing it was going to be dark. I love this series and I loved this episode, but I do think the series is losing its bravado. The series peaked at the Red Wedding... but to be fair that was an extremely high bar it set for itself. All that said, I did love the episode even if it was a bit predictable and placating to mass appeal. Absolutely no one of real consequence died. And when I say real consequence at this point, I'm pretty much talking Lannister, Stark, or Danys... though I realize many will argue Ser Jorah would be one. And I actually think his death was the most significant because it showed me one thing: Danys is a B!+C#!!! I rewatched that scene a couple times and it's pretty clear that she pulled Jorah in front of her to shield herself from death. Stark contract from Jon at the end who was trying to fight the zombie dragon and ready for his death. Danys needs to die. Tyrion and Sansa win the game. That's my immediate reaction after watching the episode. Oh... and how the heck could anyone have thought Arya would die in this episode? Girl's a badass.
