Nobody should be blaming our bad kicker for being bad. Blame the coaches for putting him in that position knowing that he is bad. He was statistically one of the worst kickers in the entire league this year. The result was inevitable.

There's absolutely no reason why the offense went off their game plan instead of slowly and methodically continuing to march down the field and run the clock. For some reason they started launching impossible throws down field rather than picking up 7-8 yards every play with Kincaid.

Even if Bass makes the kick (we knew he wouldn't) then the Chiefs have the ball with over a min left. You don't think Mahomes is going to get his guys in FG range when we didn't stop them at all the entire night? Again, don't blame Bass. This isn't his fault. We would have lost either way.

    What a troll post.

This thread should be deleted and you should be banned or warned for the same reason so many of us are banned or warned. You're being intentionally and stupidly inflammatory.

It was a 44 yard field goal. Make it. End of story.

  2. Really sucks Bernard isn't playing but hopefully McDermott planned well for his defensive scheme. Wonder how much Dorian Williams we see.

Bernard probably would have been relatively ineffective, anyway

Just got an update on Gabe - He has a grade 2 PCL tear. I was told he will not play this week. He may be able to tough it out for the AFCCG but even then he would not be 100%.

@Einstein looks like you'll get your wish.

    Thanks for this.

    I am done with Gabe.

Hope he gets paid by someone else in the offseason. Too inconsistent catching the ball, too much miscommunication between him and Josh. Sherfield might not be as good a blocker, but he's close, if not better. And I realize he's nowhere near the WR target, but I think that's been a good thing for the offense.

  4. To me, the huge news is that Taron was limited.  I understand there's protocol, but I think he's going to play.  After the game, Matt Parrino was saying in his podcast with Ryan Talbot that after he was pulled from the game he was visibly upset on the sideline he wasn't allowed to go back in.  Hopefully that's an indicator it was minor.

The news on Bernard is huge.  I doubt he plays this week, but nice that there's still an opening for him and if we're able to advance, hopefully he comes back.

Douglas probably coming back is gigantic.  If Douglas can play and Taron can play, I'm not really worried about Benford potentially being out, though we'd obviously like him back.

LB is what's going to intrigue me this week.  It'd be great to get Dodson back, but who's our other LB playing and which positions will they play?  I love the Klein pickup, but obviously a Dodson & Klein duo is likely to get picked apart by Mahomes.  Wonder if McDermott primarily uses one as a blitzer.

    I hope Gabe doesn't play.

    What happened to Josh's neck?

Allen with the blatant fake slide on the long run, then later draws a 15 yard penalty on a late hit on slide where the defender didn't hit his head.....but can you blame him for going for the tackle based on the fake earlier?

The slide is a play intended to protect the QB, not to do what Allen did.  That was garbage.

I hate to say this, but Nick Wright actually made a great point on First Things First today.

Mahomes constantly plays with defenders along the sidelines as he acts like he's gonna go out and then continues forward for more yards since the defender doesn't want to get a late hit penalty out of bounds.  That happens a lot with him.

Should that be a 15 yard penalty?

Oh wait... everyone is making a big deal about him pausing on that TD run???

Geebuz.... next you're gonna tell me he can't pump fake a pass and then pull it down to run because it's just not fair... waaah waaah waaah!!!!

For the record, that defender had plenty of space and opportunity to make the play once he realized Allen wasn't sliding. And also, those complaining about the actual penalty on his slide are ridiculous because that was so obviously a penalty.

Was at the game, not sure if they showed this on TV. After Josh ran for the long touchdown he walked from the end zone along the whole bench not stopping or pausing while giving high fives and fist bumps. One could tell he was walking with a purpose so I watched him. He finally got to the far end of the bench, tunnel side. He gave a big hug to a player who has struggled and worked thru a lot this year, Kaiir Elam. A few words were exchanged and I’m sure they were words of encouragement based on the body language. Great leadership moment.

That's awesome. Allen made a special individual shout out to Elam in the post-game locker room speech, too.

    What fake slide????

Are you talking about Allen's totally obviously real slide????

This is where I think the team part of football gets forgotten. The offense was bad for like 75% of that game. Put the defense on tough spots (defense also has improved since that game).

zero excuse to let Jones to let drive down the field like that. But this year, given the injuries and high priced guys on offense (that matters), I expect a lot more out of the offense. It’s been really inconsistent for the players we have.

There's something to be said about how a QB plays when the game is on the line and in 2023 in the 4th quarter, Allen has the 3rd highest Passer Rating among qualifying QBs (behind Purdy & Carr) and the best Completion %.

Allen also has the 2nd most Game Winning Drives in the NFL IN 2023 with 4. Geno Smith has 5. Imagine if our D held against the Patriots, Broncos and Eagles?

And overall, there's still the whole thing about Allen leading the NFL in total TDs AND total yards.

Pretty much captures what I just said

  10. I know we're all flipping out about the weather being an equalizer (and part of me feels the same way), but maybe, just maybe it separates these 2 teams even more.

If the weather is as forecasted, Buffalo can concentrate almost strictly on stopping the run with only their RBs since their QB can't run.  Meanwhile, the Bills can run with their RBs, run with Josh, and as the Bills learned in the Patriots hurricane game a few years ago, Josh can still actually throw in wind and snow.  And we have guys like Kincaid and Shakir who played their college ball in the cold weather so they at least have some experience catching passes in inclement weather.

Maybe this is just me trying to make myself feel better, but I think we should still win regardless.

Alpha, I respect your opinion but what about his career suggestions he is anything more than a replacement level wr?

the Gabe hate (not you) has gone absolutely crazy on this board. One season of his career almost beats TS’s career.

It’s absolutely idiotic and based on nothing.

he could make a few plays but saying he is better than a guy who averages 800 yards/ season (almost TS’s whole career) is just hating to hate.

You're looking at this the wrong way.

The problem isn't production.  Gabe is a more productive WR.  But that neglects all the problems in our offense that frequently run through him.

Josh's passer rating when targeting Gabe is flat-out awful!  There's constant miscommunication resulting in (at best) incompletions and (at worst) interceptions.  Gabe's catch % on balls when targeted are awful.

Maybe Sherfield isn't targeted and therefore nearly as productive as Gabe... but maybe that's part of the point.

I think it’s going to be more of the same - continued disappointment in the #2 role and Sherf Sr as more targets drift to Kincaid and Shakir. For what it’s worth I do not think Sherfield is a better WR than Gabe no, but also am not sure if it matters much

My thinking is that Josh has been forcing the ball to Gabe at times because they're close and Josh wants his friend to get paid.

Josh won't feel that way with Sherfield and the Bills won't lose much if anything at all in WR blocking since Sherfield was the best blocking WR via PFF last season.
