Allen was restructured to bring his cap hit down. Him getting more cash upfront was just a bonus.

His contract is not getting extended or reworked until 2026, coincidentally when his cap hit balloons to $60M again. They will tack on more years and guarantees on and continue to restructure to keep his cap hit lower.

Allens numbers next year are low to make the renegotiation in 2026 wide open if done before the year starts.

Wait... you guys actually believe this Bills will only pay the 2nd best player in the NFL  $14.5 million next season?

  2. Sorry if posted... I didn't see it.

I came upon this buffalo rumblings article today:

    https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2024/10/3/24261159/buffalo-bills-josh-allen-quietly-renegotiated-his-contract-this-offseason

Read it, but it cites this tweet by Mike Ginniti

So basically... that restructure was in large part a way to give Allen fair compensation. Looking at those upcoming salaries, you can bet he's getting a new deal entirely in the offseason.

  3. This game was honestly my fault.  I broke complete normal tradition of where I watch and who I watch it with because my brother-in-law said he wanted to hang out and watch a game.  So and his wife (my wife's sister) invited us over to hang out and watch the game.  They cooked.  It was more of a social event.

And even going in to watch this with them, I resigned myself to a loss since I was doing something completely different.  I just kept telling myself that 3-1 is still good...

but how come I feel so depressed today

That’s a lot of restraint talking about someone  who tweeted ‘you sure’ in response to claims Allen would be fine without Diggs

None of us are in the room, but I think Allen and Diggs really do have a brotherly relationship.  And I think they both understand how much each of them were good for each other's careers.  It's just obvious they had to move on to the next chapter.

I could be wrong, but I'd bet Allen understands the hyper-competitive nature of Diggs and realizes in large part that's what made him such a great WR for the NFL and for the Bills.  Remember... those 2 guys spent a lot of time together for 4 years.  The Bengals blowup notwithstanding, I don't think their relationship was as volatile as it was made out to be in the media.

Curious why we wouldn’t just move Johnson and Bernard to IR for four weeks. Obviously they aren’t playing anytime soon. I’d prefer not to rush them back and have them fully healthy!

Why is it obvious? To me it's clear they're confident Taron will be back for at least the Ravens game if not the Texans game and Bernard (if not on IR by Monday) will be back for at least the Jets game if not the Texans game.

To be clear I was very open to people disagreeing with me. What irritated me, and I confess I did allow myself to get irritated by it on Monday which probably kept the conversation going longer than it needed to - I rarely get wound up on this board but just caught me at the end of a ***** day - was the "you disagree with me so you must have an agenda" stuff. It's childish. Others think Von played better than I think he did. Fine. If they think I'm wrong, fine. I certainly don't think I am beyond reproach. But people constantly wanting to make it something more than a genuine difference of opinion wound me up.

Great representation of what this board should be. I also admit it was small of me to keep poking and prodding.

In the future I will try my darndest to make sure any further posts in this thread by me aren't of that nature

Wtf did you say 18mill per year that is reseting the right tackle market.

    I say and why

    Man they are printing cash.

    How much is groot getting

You guys are being ridiculous.  Gregg Tompsett broke this down nicely.  This is essentially a 3 year, $39 million contract that we can easily get out of after the 3rd year.

He's the 17th highest paid tackle in the NFL based on overall AAV and his total guaranteed money ranks 20th among tackles as far as % of total contract value.

Good deal for both sides.  And Brown played well in week 1 so seems like he's picking up where he left off last season.

  8. Listened to the NFL Daily Podcast with Gregg Rosenthall this morning (really fun and informative podcast btw) and in previewing the TNF game, they talked about the old Von Miller being back.

Apparently Von Miller was credited with 5 pressures.  I assume that's in addition to his sack.  Those types of advanced stats are the ones you get on paid subscriptions like PFF and the all-new NFL Pro that shows like NFL Daily subscribe to.

Even if not, those pressures with a sack and QB hit mixed in along with a few good plays in the run game probably have @GunnerBill, who objectively reviews All-22 film, finally conceding Von had an impactful game.  Good on you for your objectivity Gunner!

Cowterd didn't have the Bills in his top 10 hierarchy

He probably just hasn't been saying much of anything at all about Buffalo, either. It's how he operates. I wouldn't be remotely surprised if Buffalo beats the Fins this weekend and Josh looks like a stud he suddenly leaps them not only into the top 10 but the top 5

So why does it matter at all how Von Miller performed IN COMPARISON TO A PARTICULAR SEGMENT OF NEGATIVE EXPECTATIONS? What matters is how he performed. I don't really care about the tribal bit about haters vs supporters. I care that this older and recently-injured, but talented and well-paid player flashed in some meaningful ways. He has previously shown an ability to help close out games, and the rep that is bizarrely being downplayed on one side of the "debate" was clearly a high quality snap for Miller. His bull rush was impressive, and in large part led to his sack. Which helped to close out the game.

Which is good for the Bills.
