  1. They kinda matter a lot though... especially in the new age of the QB. Plenty of 3rd down conversions with his legs. Those don't count? Josh Allen was 80% of our offense yesterday. That's how bad our running game is.
  2. I don't really care about this. I think that's going to exist to a certain degree for Allen's entire career. What concerns me right now is the fact that as Allen goes, so does Buffalo. Our Defense and running game is just plain bad this year. So Allen is required to play exceptionally well almost every week just for us to win. Not only that, but Daboll has to be better and understand this. Sunday against the Jets should be a get right game for Allen and the Bills, but it only goes right back to being difficult with the Patriots, Seahawks and Cardinals.
  3. https://theathletic.com/2148707/2020/10/19/josh-allen-bills-chiefs-patrick-mahomes?source=user-shared-article Third-and-wrong Buffalo’s defense entered Monday’s game third from the bottom in stopping third-down conversions, allowing opponents to move the chains 50.9 percent of the time. As bad as that overall number is, consider they also allowed three of six conversions on third-and-11 or longer. Make that five of eight now. Buffalo squandered both juicy chances they had to get Kansas City off the field. Down by six with 4:13 to play, the Bills gave up a 37-yard completion to Byron Pringle on third-and-12. The Chiefs ended the drive with a field goal. Kansas City also converted a third-and-14 with Buffalo in prevent defense 16 seconds before halftime. Mahomes threw to Demarcus Robinson for 15 yards to lengthen a drive that short-circuited with Kelce’s midfield fumble on the next play. Picking up those low-probability first downs can be backbreakers. It occurred once in each of the Bills’ three previous games: The Los Angeles Rams scored a touchdown to pull within three points in the fourth quarter, the Las Vegas Raiders made a field goal on their opening possession, and the Tennessee Titans scored a second-quarter touchdown on those extended drives. Opposing quarterbacks in these situations have completed seven of eight attempts for 124 yards with no turnovers or sacks.
  4. Sorry so late to update... managing work while watching the game along with depression to follow. Upon reflection, Allen wasn't very good, but I also don't think he was as bad as our initial reaction is. First of all, Daboll frustrates me... I feel like he's Jekyll and Hyde as an OC. Our RBs just aren't very good... or our OL is just horrible at run blocking... or both. Singletary had 1 run of 10 yards and 1 run of 9 yards at one point. Other than those 2 runs our RBs still ran the ball 13 more times for a TOTAL of 23 yards. We just get behind the sticks too often on those early downs and then have to rely on Allen to get us a 1st down. And honestly, all year that's what he was doing with his arm... today he did it more often with his legs. And the icing on the cake are the drops by our WRs. I know the deep passes to Brown and Diggs in the EZ aren't drops, but those were good passes. But Diggs had another drop at one point. Brown had that drop on a perfectly thrown pass on 3rd and 10 on the very first drive that hit him in the facemask. We've upgraded our WR corps for sure, but even before this game Allen was STILL suffering from highest drop % in the NFL. And finally I really do think Allen has some Primetime Yips he needs to work through. Last year I think I made the comment that Allen was much better on the road because there's less pressure to perform on the road than at home. Same goes for Primetime games. He's still growing, and I'm confident he will, but I think the fact that he didn't have much of a spotlight in HS, JuCo, or D1 College is factoring into his need to grow a bit more into the game.
  5. He honestly might be our best Defensive player... I definitely think he's our most important

  8. It's great he takes the onus on him, but the worst part of his statement is that it's absolutely true. This year Allen pretty much determines the outcome of our games. In years past when we had a strong running game and/or strong D, mediocre to poor QB play could be overcome by the team for a W. Not this year. That's both exciting and terrifying. Part of the reason it's terrifying is because the offensive game plan going into these games doesn't seem to really acknowledge that. We too often have runs for little or no yardage on 1st and/or 2nd down only to get behind the sticks. Oh yeah... and TOO MANY DROPS!!!
  9. Like I said. We miss Star. Gotta trade for a big run-stuffing DL.
  10. I'm tired of this Defense. So terrible. I'd say maybe once we get Milano back healthy and maybe trade for a good run stuffing DT (yes I really think they miss Star this year) that we'll get better, but frankly I don't actually think that'll happen. Basically Allen needs to carry the team almost every game, but a combination of primetime jitters on his part and an offensive game plan that won't simply acknowledge that is going to keep this team in that "good, but not good enough" territory. So frustrating.
  11. Milano being out is really going to hurt us. He's by far our best LB and is probably our 2nd best player on D.
  12. https://theathletic.com/2143605/2020/10/17/are-the-buffalo-bills-the-real-deal-going-inside-the-numbers-and-the-eye-test?source=user-shared-article We won’t know what Allen’s injury prospects will look like, but the scheme is hardly unique and he doesn’t seem to be benefiting from an extraordinary amount of luck. His supporting cast is great at nearly every spot on the offense, but he also suffers from a high drop rate — per Pro Football Focus, it’s the highest in the NFL at 7.9 percent. Though he’s had a dropped pick here or there, his turnover-worthy play percentage is not especially high at 3.21 percent — about average, again per PFF. As a result, he has the fourth-highest adjusted accuracy rate, once taking away throwaways, batted passes, spiked balls and balls thrown while being hit while counting drops as completions. Given that he’s a fairly deep passer, that’s impressive. One way to evaluate the impact deep passing has had on his accuracy, we can look at passing plus-minus, a metric developed by NFL Next Gen Stats. It uses data gathered from chips in shoulder pads and the ball to take into account the difficulty of throws, as determined by pocket pressure, depth downfield, distance of nearest defender, distance to the sideline and a few other factors. By that metric, Allen has had 2.7 completion percentage points above expected. That ranks 20th, but because it only counts completions and not “accurate passes,” it happens to underrate Allen. Once we give every quarterback equal “luck” with regards to drops, batted passes, etc., Allen’s completion rate above expected rises to 5.26, sixth in the NFL. One big factor in determining whether a team will regress is the play of the quarterback and whether his play is sustainable. For Allen, the signs point to yes — at least for this year.
  13. Sure looks like he's favoring one foot to me.
  14. Great question! Actually yes. Yes I do. Normally in the mornings I'll switch between local news and GMFB/NFL Now as I get ready. After a Bills loss I almost always strictly watch the local news. And then on my way to work I usually switch between NPR and Colin Cowherd/Dan Patrick. After a Bills loss I almost always strictly listen to just NPR. And that's even more true the day after a primetime game.
  15. Part of me saw this coming. Too many factors at play against Buffalo, starting with not knowing their opponent until the weekend. I really think that impacted preparation... probably especially on the coaching side as I'm sure the coaches were preparing for 2 teams. For the players I think fear of Covid was probably a factor, too. The Titans had no reason but to play all out. They already had the disease spread through their team. I'm sure in the back of Buffalo players minds was the question of whether the guy lined up across from me is going to get me sick. I really wanted this game postponed until a week 18. Sounds like McDermott did, too... oh well.
  16. The fact that he's #57 sure says something, too. He was #94 in college... did he choose #57?
  17. The first game he played and I saw him in there I had no clue who he was and was shocked when I found out it was him.
  18. Wait Amazon is going to broadcast it?!?! Oh man that's AMAZING news!!!
  19. Honestly I think he looks like an LB. Is he meant to be the LORAX replacement?
  20. What's the word on fans for Monday Night's game?
  21. https://theathletic.com/2136554/2020/10/13/penalties-and-sloppy-play-doom-bills-in-battle-of-preparedness-insta-graham?source=user-shared-article By a lot Tuesday was the 10th time since 1987 the Bills have allowed at least 42 points and lost by at least 26 points. Four of those have happened under coach Sean McDermott. The 26-point margin is the fifth-worst defeat since McDermott was hired. Worse differentials happened twice in 2017 and three times in 2018. The Bills’ worst loss last year was 31-13 to the Philadelphia Eagles.
  22. It was one game. And even in this "bad" game he was 62%. I'm much, much, MUCH more worried about our Defense.
  23. This was just a weird game I was hoping would be put off to a week 18. There were so many conditions to this game being played it made it impossible for Buffalo know if they should be mentally prepared for the Titans or the Chiefs. I expect McDermott is using this game as a teachable moment.
