We always knew we’d drag some of you kicking and screaming towards progress. I’m sure you’ll be just fine.

I always think back to some people I knew in HS that never finished and started their own landscaping business. These people used cheap labor(usually illegally) for the last 30 years and now own 750k homes and have a dozen vehicles. That’s not the American dream. That’s taking advantage of a rigged system. Someone that cuts lawns was never supposed to be a millionaire. That “model” never should’ve existed in the first place. It will take time for some to adjust.

I’m sorry that it isn’t working out in your favor. You’ll never see me siding with businesses that want their slaves back. Pay them and they’ll come back. If an extra $300/week is why no one is returning to work, that illustrates what the real problem is our economic system.

I think it’s pretty clear that people aren’t ever going to return to those low wage jobs. Some still seem to be in denial about that. No one wants to return to their pre-Covid life. We’re seeing evidence of that all across the workforce. In our lifetime, American workers have never had the power they presently have.

I just want everyone to know that Andy’s story is 100 percent true. I suggest you watch a film called “The White Ribbon.” Afterwards, think about when you were growing up. Revisit these threads and notice some of the behavior you see. In the coming months, I’ll try to track down Andy and get an update on his situation.

But they are on welfare. Food stamps is welfare. If you make 9 bucks an hour and work at Walmart, you’re eligible for welfare. There is no different version of welfare for some “other” group where the government hands out fresh $1000 bills to people. The new Biden chid tax credit is a program to address child hunger. WIC is a welfare program.

There is no difference between the two. They’re the same thing.

The difference is: Federal Medicaid only covers people that have kids. Discrimination IMO. It rewards bad behavior (children) The state Medicaid programs cover low-income single people also. Not available in red states.

Medicaid is welfare health insurance. For example, NJ has their own version of Medicaid called NJFsmilycare. NY has the same thing. That’s welfare HC. It’s free HC for low-income individuals. That is welfare. Medicare is different.

To be honest, I only knew a few from HS. No one in either of our families are Trumpers. I haven’t really come into contact with any fascists since I left Publix. We’re all a bunch of DNC operatives. However, there were 3 women at the end of a bar while I was getting take out. They were discussing getting lines of credit because Trump is going to “erase their debt.” That’s 1 strike for that establishment. The food is good but I can’t have that.
