How far we’ve fallen as a country. It’s truly amazing that some of you have this mindset. If I remember correctly, he was given the choice to risk it and stay or take a retirement package. Now, if you’re my age, you should remember the ups and downs IBM and other companies had during that period. Again, I feel like I’m talking to someone at least 5 years younger than me. We’re you still eating Play-doh during that era?
-
He was expecting a better retirement package like everyone else that worked for huge corporations throughout the 70’s and 80’s. Were you not born here? It seems like we grew up in parallel universes but you claim to be the same age.
-
What did he do? My dad came out of the navy for electronics, joined IBM, then became a contract writer before ending up as upper management. He was pushed into early retirement with a not so great retirement package in the early 90’s. I’m sure it’s pretty good, but not what he expected for 30 years of loyal service. My dad actually wrote the huge contracts for the IBM PC. Some nerds might know about that story. My dad knew it was a mistake at the time also. The whole IBM/Bill Gates thing. I remember my dad coming home always bitching about the IBM PCs. They actually teach about that in every college “Intro to PCs” class now. He would tell you you’re doing it wrong also.

I’m in the center. Commie Kay is on the left, and the rest of you are way off the reservation right and can no longer recognize center. I haven’t moved. I see that. They need lots of care and lots of veterinary care. That might be a FT job. Will the vet come to your house or do I have to bring the goats to them?

It’s going to take decades to clean up Trump’s mess. This is what happens when you mix Rand Paul-style isolationism with incompetence. Luckily, the voters recognize this. They just have to keep the right mouth’s fed and it should work perfectly.

At the same time, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if China was able to navigate their way through this without getting bogged down. They have entirely different goals. They aren’t trying to reenact the Crusades like we were.

I’m not sure if it was covered in his links but China basically puts these countries into huge debt with these infrastructure projects. When Afghanistan can’t pay, I assume China will take their resources (mining) as payment. What happens then will be interesting to watch.
-
I would think that China is the main reason we’re leaving. They were coming in regardless and it isn’t smart to get into the middle of that. It should be us building that infrastructure, not China, but as you can see, we’re more interested in the rights of Afghan women in a Muslim country.

Lambda already entered the country through Miami. That’s why people called it the DeSantis variant.

I always knew that voters would choose the most boring candidate ever (Biden) after 4 years of idiocy and chaos (Trump), but it won’t be THAT boring where this would define a presidency.
-
Your take is correct. You have an increasingly rare skill where you can analyze an issue, remove the noise, and predict how it will play out over time in a country that chases a 24-hour news cycle which consists mostly of manufactured outrage and spin. What may seem really easy for you, is quite difficult for most. One poster even said that this event will define Biden’s presidency, as if we are still living in the 1970’s.

Is this how you treat other retired people? Are you telling your 70 year dad that he’s lazy and hasn’t contributed enough to society? Lol. Do you push little old ladies on the ground, kick them, and say “there’s still a few miles left on this labor unit”? Get movin Grandma! Hustle!

Imagine being Mike Pompeo, thinking that people would actually want you to run for president. These people are nuts. He’s been groomed his entire life for that job but it’s never going to happen. These people just don’t know when to quit.
-
But didn’t we just send soldiers back to get them? Someone wake me up if that mission fails.
-
I’m confused as to where you think he’s supposed to be. Is he supposed to be wearing his aviators flying a chopper rescuing people? What is this narrative you’re chasing? I haven’t watched any news so you will have to fill me in.

China isn’t stupid. They won’t get involved in the politics of these nations because they don’t care about civil rights or anything else really. They want to build infrastructure for these countries, mine their minerals, and set up routes to move their products through. They won’t fire a single bullet.
-
Remember the timeline. I’ll add the politics to it. Bush starts war in Afghanistan. Bush then gets bored with war in Afghanistan because there’s no clear enemy and no clear leader of the enemy. Bush then attacks Iraq. Obama runs on leaving Iraq. Obama then uses Afghanistan as the reason for leaving Iraq. Obama leaves Iraq. Trump runs on leaving Afghanistan. Trump doesn’t follow through and kicks the can down the road with one foot out the door to the next president. Biden mans up and leaves Afghanistan and takes the political hit. I don’t care what the fallout is. It had to happen and I congratulate Joe. Now, if we sent 100k troops back there to try to fix it and they’re still there 2 years from now, I’ll gladly join you in your witch-hunt, but that hasn’t happened yet.
-
Biden knows that 2 years from now no one is going to care about any of this. Sure, it was stupid plan by Trump, a poison pill, but it still had to be done, and the majority of voters support the decision. Independents are pretty happy right now. Trump set the timeline to when he’d already be gone. That’s a total wuss move. Biden stepped up and got it done anyway and knew it had to be done early in his term, or not at all, politically.

I won’t be here forever to entertain and hold all of your hands. I’ll be tending to my goats.

So he’s right on pace for when his mother passes and leaves whatever that amount is.

What am I taking from you? I don’t believe I need anything from you. I don’t have kids so I don’t need your socialist child tax credit that you recently started receiving. I’m not on welfare. I’ve paid into SS and Medicare. I don’t need any Pell grants. Can you think of anything else? I would just like to see our existing programs improved because I firmly believe that if my neighbor is doing well, I’m doing well. I’m always thinking of others, putting myself in others shoes.

His mother. His biggest problem will be the HC system when he gets old, but that’s a problem for all of us. It’s designed to extract every penny you have before you die. No one actually leaves anything to anyone. Do you know the other trick in NJ? If you have 3 acres you can call your house a farm and that cuts your taxes way down. We plan to do that at some point. I want to get some of those tiny goats and whatever else my gf wants. Most people here have alpacas running around their yard. I want some of those goats to have as pets. It’s pretty ridiculous but everyone else is doing it.

I think Chef has spending problems. His family cell phone bill is probably $500/month. If a single person that has all their expenses paid can’t live in 35k, we obviously need to raise the minimum wage right?
