RD 3, Pick 74: RB Devin Singletary, Florida Atlantic
Logic replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Google him. Look at any other source out there. He's not 5'7". -
Yeah. The greatest player in FAU history and a guy with 4200 career rushing yards and who once posted 32 TDs in one season. Must be a total bum. I just think you decided that you wanted a Wide Receiver and literally any other selection at any other position is upsetting to you. Value and draft board be damned, if it's not a WR, you're gonna bash the pick.

"Hey bud. Welcome to the Bills running back room. Meet the guys you're going to be competing with: LeSean McCoy and Frank Gore. Good luck!" -

He's gonna learn from two of the best ever in McCoy and Gore. I can't help but wonder if we got scooped by the Bears, who traded just in front of us and took Montgomery. -
Really? The Bills have gone for the "sexy" pick year after year. Drafting guys like Roscoe Parrish and Willis McGahee when what they needed was SUBSTANCE, PROTECTION, TRENCHES. The Bills actually drafting players to get to the opposing quarterback and to protect their OWN quarterback instead of drafting a flashy WR to please the fans? It's literally the opposite of the (losing, stupid) way they've done things for years. And you're kvetching about it. Lol Joe in Winslow gonna Joe in Winslow.

1.) Taylor had medical concerns. 2.) Ford is a better pass protecter than Taylor. 3.) Taylor was off the board when the Bills picked.

Just wanted to say I'm with you here. Long was an upper echelon RG before signing with the Jets. It's why they paid mega-bucks to bring him in. Yes, he had a down year at C with injuries and such. But if he's fully healthy and aloud to concentrate on winning a guard spot? People are sleeping on Long. I think Spain and Long win starting guard spots and Ford or Nsekhe start at RT.

You're right. Morse and Ford, the two most prominent additions on the o-line both have pass blocking as their primary strength. I don't think that's by accident. Looks like the Bills rightly understand that they invested picks and money in a QB and want to give him every chance to succeed by protecting him. Imagine that.

Really? We have an established starting right tackle? That's funny, I don't see one on the roster. We HAVE weapons: Foster and Smokey Brown are two of the ten fastest receivers in the NFL. Josh Allen's arm and legs are weapons. McCoy is a weapon. We have 7 more draft picks to keep adding. I promise, all the weapons in the world don't mean squat if your QB is on IR. R-E-L-A-X.

Ford allowed only 7 total pressures in 2018 and didn't allow a sack until the college football playoffs!" This right here^^^ To anyone bitching that we aren't getting more "playmakers": The number one way to help your quarterback make plays is to keep him upright. Ford only allowed 7 PRESSURES in 2018?! Not sacks, but PRESSURES?! Are you KIDDING ME?! Smokey Brown and Robert Foster will take the lid off defenses. McCoy and Gore will punish them if they don't bring a safety down into the box. Foster or Brown will punish them if they do. But what allows all of this to work? Protection. An upright quarterback. The best receivers in the WORLD don't mean squat if your quarterback is on IR. GO BILLS!!!

Color me surprised -- but not disappointed -- that they chose Ford over Risner. Risner seemed like the human version of "the process". Alas, they must really like what Ford has to offer. I will never, ever complain about drafting big uglies. DT and OT in 1st two rounds? Sounds like winning football to me.

RD 1, Pick 9: DT Ed Oliver, University of Houston
Logic replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What Yatta said. Even if we didn't improve with the selection of Oliver (though I be we did), we at least probably maintained status quo. Even that would be nothing to sneeze at, given that failing to maintain said status quo could've meant a precipitous drop in defensive effectiveness. If Oliver is as talented as they say, with comparisons to John Randle and Aaron Donald and such, it's hard not to feel like we upgraded. As much as we all love Kyle Williams, he was never a John Randle or an Aaron Donald. -
Darnold, Allen, and Rosen in the same division. Who'd have thunk it? Something tells me we'll be seeing a lot of Ed Oliver affecting Josh Rosen in an, um....negative way. Should be fun to watch. ☺️

I said this last night, but I think Bills fans need to prepare for the very real possibility that the 2nd round pick is spent on a DB. They had Juan Thornhill and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson both in for visits. They also love Rock Ya-Sin and Byron Murphy. McDermott wants to run the Big Nickel with someone better and more dangerous than Rafael Bush. Don't be shocked to hear a defensive back's name called tonight.
