  1. Patriots* 70 Bills 2
  2. Reliable intel or clouded judgement ? All makes sense now. No other team willing to pay close to that says a lot. Similar to Daboll lobbying for Foster ,or Mc D and Beanes Carolina obsession though on a much greater scale.
  3. The Chiefs ( pre Mahomes) had followed a similar blueprint as the Bills at the QB position, not spending a high pick on QB for a long periodic time since the ‘83 draft. ( we all know the Bills used their 1st rounder in 2013 and 2018) . Somehow, since Kelly’s last season in ‘96 the Chiefs have managed to make the playoffs 8 times and finished with a winning record 11 times. Not nearly the Bills level of futility. The Bills have been on a path of futility almost since their inception.
  4. Exactly. A teardown might be a reasonable strategy in baseball. There’s a huge financial disparity between teams in what that can pay to players. There’s also a farm system. It’s too long a “ process” to pull off in the NFL. You pretty much have to retain some existing talent to compete. Also: the line for this game should be something like Patriots -20. 13 is ridiculously low.
  5. The same one that wanted to give NE their usual cakewalk to home field for the AFC title game. Had to give the Bills a PT appearance due to their playoff berth and NE needed their typical 6 or 7. MNF @ BUF ? Problem solved!
  6. I think the Jets and Fish will be at least 3-4 wins ahead of the Bills by that point. Obviously the Patriots could start their backup QB and it wouldn’t matter much.
  7. Bills DEC schedule is largely vs the AFCE teams.
  8. This rarely happens. Most HC candidates want to bring in their own people. Even when they’ve done a good job. Schwartz was shown the door by Rex etc. Demanding anyone be retained severely limits the pool of candidates.
  9. Intention? Where does this nonsense come from? Players are paid professionals trying to stay in the league and keep their jobs. The same goes with coaches and FO types. ( even if they’re not that good at it ). I don’t understand why fans think players and coaches aren’t trying to win. They fought hard and made it to 9-7, then got some breaks with tiebreakers that previous 9-7 squads didn’t. There was more talent on that team because the FO hadn’t finished their purge. It’s simple as that.
  10. There is no if. Peterman should have been released already, but they’ve boxed themselves in with their poor planning. He shouldn’t see the field again in a Bills uniform even if it means playing Logan Thomas at QB.
  11. It’s a mirage. His noodle arm leads him to throw pick sixes on demand. Anderson pretty much sucks, but Peterman is a whole new level.
  12. Easier said than done. Playmaking WRs in the draft ? That’s been a huge hit or miss around the league for awhile. As FA ? Good luck. The contracts being given out in FA to WRs are huge, and players have choices. They won’t want to come to Buffalo. It’s not so easy as going to the store and picking out stud players to stack your offense with. The FOs drafting ability is suspect to say the least. Then there’s the matter of if the OC is any good. I’d love to share your optimism, but it’s a pretty big ask of even a competent FO to pull off.
  13. The Bills 3 worst finishes in point differential were 1971 -210 ( 14 game season) 1984 - 204, and 1985 -181. Seems they may be on track to top those fantastic numbers.
  14. Pats* fans are always willing to buy them and make the trip. Still less expensive than attending a game @ Gillette.
  15. They were 8-8 mostly due to the lack of a top QB. They were average to above in most other areas. They are now well below average on offense; the most important side of the ball in the current NFL.
  16. Bad contracts to remain mediocre ? Good players get paid, so you keep the most important ones ( cannot keep them all) and replace others via draft and FA. The Bills problem wasn’t bad contracts, but a lack of a star QB and few good young players on cheap deals. Their structure was perhaps a bit different because they didn’t have a top QB eating up a certain percentage of cap $$, but this notion that contracts were the problem with the Bills is overblown. They are now completely bereft of talent on one side of the ball, and the D may be a tad overrated as well. The Beane / McD plan is practically doomed to fail because they’ve set themselves up to need a few spectacular drafts and a great FA haul to be competitive. They’ll be fired before they can see it through.
  17. I hate it, but there won’t be much else for them to do. They’ll be dipping into the blowout material before halftime, then it will be ballwashings all around for the Pats and their staff.
  18. I’m not sure many think that could have happened, but it’s pretty clear who the more talented prospect is. It’s also the entire picture of the mishandling of Allen though many pundits doubt he can be good. Taking a QB with a vet in place would seem the smarter move. They could have done this. Hiring a good QB coach and a top OC would give him a chance etc. they pretty much bungled the entire process, besides probably drafting the wrong player. It’s cumulative failure, not just a draft whiff.
  19. This I can agree with. Making a proclamation on a message board about a draft prospect earns you nothing . It’s the equivalent of a fantasy team pick or picking the lottery numbers. If this guy had any clairvoyant powers, he’d either be a powerball millionaire or pulling in huge $$$ from an NFL team. He really needs to give it a rest. Luck is where opportunity meets preparation. Should have hired a new GM first and let him pick the Coach. That’s the usual order of operations in the NFL. Bad timing because they made it so.
  20. Several of the teams that passed him up have a QB. Some have been to the playoffs or even a Super Bowl. They can probably live with their decision. We are Bills fans and only care about what the Bills did with their draft. They haven’t had a good NFL caliber QB in twenty years. So yes, it stings just a bit when the ineptitude of the organization permeates every move and clouds their future.
  21. I’d still bet Allen is nowhere near as good a QB as Goff or Mahomes. With any scheme, or players.
  22. Wow... I just don’t see it. Mahomes has skills Allen can’t even scratch the surface of, and I don’t think those are courtesy of Andy Reid. The Bills offense would be better with Mahomes, but hardly the juggernaut the Chiefs have at the moment. The Chiefs with Allen? I think they might be decent but not a juggernaut by any stretch . Maybe not even what they were with Smith. There’s a huge difference imo.
  23. We can only hope that is the matchup....I’d love it if it is.
  24. Yes, more than one year is required. Year 3 for most coaches is when the heat on their seat gets turned up. It’s not trending in a good direction for Beane and Co right now. There’s a way to go, but it’s hard to see where enough good players are going to come from because they will need a lot of them. So that’s the issue. It’s easier to envision this offfense being terrible next year too. I’d be surprised if a major change was made before next season, but I don’t think I’d be stunned. Expecting a mediocre to bad year and getting an historically bad one could lead ownership to act.
