WR trade candidates, who do you want?
oldmanfan replied to Einstein's Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall
I will reiterate: 1. One good WR is not a linchpin of anything. The only single position that is truly a linchpin is QB and we have a great one. 2. If you pick up a contract you have to cover the salary in place. You keep making assumptions. Assumptions that Beane can do so without understanding that, how much he has to allocate to rookies, how much he’ll have to pay in injury replacements, etc. Assumptions are easy Ito make from the sidelines, not so easy when you are the guy having to do the job. 3. I tend to believe Beane when he says things. I also tend to not change my opinion on Beane from good to pathetic based on making or not making one trade. -

As do I. But that seems to be a hard concept for some to grasp. -

but let’s not kid ourselves. There have been teams that havestopped Kelce. Just because I don’t follow or care to look it up doesn't make it false This board is really funny at times. We have a fellow here without knowledge and chooses not to obtain knowledge expressing with absolute certainty that the Bills can stop a guy that every other team in the league has had trouble stopping. And Williams was drafted to provide depth behind Milano. -

I haven’t said anything pro or con about McD. He needs to win or he’ll get fired. Such is life in the NFL. What I don’t do is make sweeping generalizations and then say I really don’t know what I’m talking about but are sure of that which I don’t know. Kelce has been a problem for every team. I suppose you could triple team him but that will then open other areas. I suppose we could have put Williams on him but I would not expect a rookie to slow Kelce down on his own. -

So you don’t know but are sure at the same time. Interesting. -

No answer to my question. I suppose because no one has figured out how to shut down Kelce. -

I’m curious as to what other teams have figured out the way to stop Kelce. -

He has the right to say what he wants. I and apparently many others have the right to disagree and express that. So why are you and others continue to suggest I should just accept his views? As for the NFL, he is an employee of one of their teams, and the league wants to assure fans who do not agree with his views that he does not speak for the league as a whole. -

Where does he say he does? That is what we’re called to do. Instead he criticized politicians and the leaders of his church not to mention the comments we’ve discussed. -

Christians follow Christ and Hos word. And he calls us to love our neighbor as ourself. I don’t sense that in Butker’s address. -

I just found that out, and therefore retract any comments made based on this. Thanks for bringing that up. -

I would say an N of 2 isn’t much. Again, he can say what he wants and some may agree. From the reaction it seems many don’t including the Order of sisters who sponsor the school, I believe. No one is saying balancing career and family is easy. What the women I have talked to about it object to is the idea that the only real identity women have are as wives and mothers. Tell you what really amazed me is his clarification where he said he’d like to go back to a time where women cared more about babies than thoughts. That he is intimating that women should not have thoughts is simply absurd no matter your religious persuasion. Yet here you are on social media espousing yours. -

And I disagree with the linchpin thing. No one player outside of QB makes the kind of pronounced difference that you’re implying. The linchpin will be Brady and how he sets up the offense. -

So you want to interpret some things literally and not others to fit your opinion. We’re done. -
I think Hamler’s issue in injuries. But we’ll see. I think your list is pretty accurate. Should be an interesting camp.

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Receivers are a Dime a Dozen
oldmanfan replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
One of the issues that keeps coming up is the Bills supposedly don’t have a WR that can “stretch the field”, i.e. run fast. With Claypool, MVS, Hamler, and Isabella plus Shakir and Samuel who both have speed, can we now all agree that is taken care of? Good. -
People were all concerned about having a deep threat that can stretch the field. With Hamler, MVS, Claypool and Isabella all in the fight, not to mention Shakir and Samuel who have speed, can we finally put that to rest?

He did not say that about his wife. He said that his wife would say her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and mother. If you are going to parse words be accurate. By implication he is telling the women in the audience their only vocation if they want their life to truly start is to be a wife and mother. That other vocations don’t count. -

Perfectly stated. He is a representative of a staunchly Catholic faith speaking to a college of the same. So his comments are not surprising. But Martin Luther began the Reformation precisely because of difficulties with staunch Catholic theology. -

I want to speak directly to you briefly because I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you. How many of you are sitting here now about to cross this stage and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career? Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world. I can tell you that my beautiful wife, Isabelle, would be the first to say that her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and as a mother. He talks of women having diabolical lies told to them, immediately after which he speaks of some that MAY go on to careers but that the majority are MOST EXCITED about marriage and children. Then says his wife’s life TRULY STARTED when she began linking her VOCATION as a wife and mother. He did not use the words mutually exclusive but makes it as clear as day that women should aspire to be wives and mothers. As in his wife had no life before that. And then in an even more inflammatory statement explaining his comments he indicated he aspired to a time when women did not have thoughts. His feelings on the role of women is quite clear. -

He speaks of vocation as being a wife and mother. Or husband and father. -

That does not make you a hater, no. Those are complex issues. There are those that demand transsexuals be eradicated. That is hatred. -

I have a perfect example of a great mom and career woman in my own home. I’m sure there are many on this board that would say the same. And when in his supposed clarification he said he wanted to harken back to a day when women were more concerned with babies than thoughts, that is not something I would call a little ham fisted.
