  1. How about that?! Wow. Defense is like “I got your back Josh” 😂
  2. Defense needs to start stopping the run here. It’s really the only thing Green Bay has been able to do tonight. Their offense adjusted and our defense hasn’t really been able to stop it yet.
  3. Nice come from behind win! I was so aggravated after the way they played in the 2nd period. But then they played a much better 3rd and came out with the win. Good job overcoming adversity.
  4. Yeah that could be it, or at least part of it. If he’s injured and can’t pass a physical in March (or whenever it is) they would be on the hook for $17.5M in additional guarantees to the $13 million (or something like that) they’re already on the hook for. It will be interesting to see if they move to Nick Foles if Ehlinger sucks too much, or if they go back to Ryan. That will tell us for sure whether it’s the injury guarantees.
  5. Nice story. Thanks for sharing! IMO empathy is a very important trait to have. The world needs more of it.
  6. After watching hard knocks my vote is for Dan campbell. He reminds me of Ted Nolan a bit, in that his answer to every problem seems to be “work harder/care more”. work harder is not the answer to every problem. Like, scheme matters. Details matter. Not making stupid mistakes constantly matters 😂 Hmm. That’s a good write in vote. It has me reconsidering my choice now. 🤔😂
  7. The first i had ever seen of this guy was his OBJ tweet. I was skeptical. Now I’m even more skeptical than I was initially. This just feels like someone making stuff up and tweeting it. One of those people who tweet about multiple different teams being a “front runner” for a player in the rumor mill and then claiming he was “right” if that player goes to any of the multiple teams they mentioned.
  8. I actually feel bad for him + Giselle and especially the kids. A divorce is a tough thing to go through. You can see it’s taken a toll on him. I’d bet the same is true of Giselle and the kids. It’s a big life change.
  9. Yeah Peterka has been a pleasant surprise. I thought it might take him some time to find his game after a mediocre preseason but he’s been playing good hockey. It’s weird, Quinn had a pretty good preseason and he’s struggled to start the regular season. Peterka struggled in the preseason but has started the regular season much better than Quinn. 🤷‍♂️ I’m trying not to get nervous about Thompson yet. We need him to be the player he was last season. I’ve seen flashes of that but nothing consistent yet. I just hope last year wasn’t a 1-off…
  10. They still have a LONG ways to go before they could be considered in the Bills tier. I am hopeful that they’re moving in the right direction finally but it’s still too soon for me to say they are with 100% confidence. I definitely think they have more competent coaching and management than they did the last 10 years. But again, time will tell. I like a lot of things Adams and Granato have done, but there’s also things I don’t like. They are still relatively early in this newest rebuild though. NHL rebuilds take a lot longer and it’s much harder to move on from bad contracts. I don’t really see the playoffs are a very realistic possibility this year, especially being in the east. The top 3 teams from each division make it, and then there are 2 wildcard spots. Last year they top 3 teams in the Atlantic by points: 122 115 110 and the 2 wildcard teams had: 107 100 For the Sabres to have a realistic shot at the playoffs means probably at least 100 points. They had 75pts last season. I’d be surprised if they made that type of leap this year. Finishing top 3 in the division seems unrealistic. I don’t see how they finish better than Florida, Toronto, Tampa, Boston. Ottawa made some big improvements in the offseason. So did Detriot. Our best chance is to keep pace with them and hope for one of the final wildcard spots. They also have to outpace the wildcard teams in the metro. Playoffs this year would take some big growth from our younger players. I’m not sure if they’re ready for that yet. Quinn and Peterka should hopefully be big pieces of the team moving forward but both are rookies this year. They still have a lot of young talent outside the NHL too. Some of them need to develop into good NHL players in order to be a perennial playoff contender in the East. I just want to see them at least stay in the wildcard race all season and finish outside of the bottom 10. That would show me things are moving in the right direction. It’s hard to sell another bottom 8-10 finish as improvement.
  11. I’ll give them a pass for yesterday. They didn’t get home from the west coast till late Wednesday night then had to play again Thursday evening. It’s pretty common for teams to struggle after a road trip like that. But they have to get back in the win column next game. They can’t have 3 losses in a row. Chicago is a very beatable team. No excuses. Im hoping for 2 wins in a row here. Chicago, Detroit. Detroit made a lot more additions this offseason than Buffalo did but I still feel like it’s a game Buffalo should win. and I will say, even though the Sabres only made 2 additions this offseason they both look pretty good. Comrie and Lybushkin have both been playing pretty good hockey. I still don’t think it was enough, but it is what it is at this point. what we really need is for Tage Thompson to get going. Skinner too. That whole line needs to get their $#&* together. We need growth from all our young players if they want any chance at staying in the playoff race. That’s what they banked on - the young guys taking a step. I’d say so far only Dahlin has. Maybe Cozens.
  12. If he wasn’t a culture fit with the giants, he wouldn’t be a culture fit here.
  13. I’m just glad he didn’t go to the chiefs. I believe there were rumors they were interested. Its a nice move for Philly but it really shouldn’t impact the Bills much. If it kept him from the chiefs it probably helped the Bills.
  14. yeah that was ugly. Probably their worst game of the year. Buffalo looked sloppy and totally out of sync all night. Bad passes, bobbled pucks, guys out of position all night, countless odd man breaks. Very little went right for them. Skinner and Thompson both struggled, again. But the whole team did. We haven’t seen much from those 2 yr this season, though. We need both to get going. The Sabres just seem to struggle against Seattle. I think it’s the style of hockey they play. Seattle is not the most well structured team but they play hard and are constantly pressuring the puck. The Sabres seem to struggle against teams that play like that. They just couldn’t seem to get to their game last night. and yeah that goal that was called back because Mittelstadt decided to lazily coast to the bench as his teammates were entering the o zone just pissed me off. I wanted Granato to staple his ass to the bench after that but he was right back out there the next shift. I can live with mistakes, but not such a lack of effort. No excuse for that. Mitts has to be way more aware than that. At least get your butt over the damn blue line.
  15. Another 10pm game tonight. Hoping they can finish off this road trip strong! Buffalo is winless (0-2) vs Seattle so far in Seattle’s short time in the NHL. Hopefully tonight that changes!
  16. Damn that sucks. Hall was playing great. Hope he has a full recovery. It’ll be interesting to see how much more they pass now and how Wilson handles it.
  17. I agree they need to sustain it. But I wouldn’t necessarily say they started well the last 3 years. Last year they started out with 3 wins and things went downhill pretty quick. They only had 2 more wins in their next 9 games after that. The year before they had 1 win in their first 5 games. In 2019 they definitely started out hot. They had 8 wins in their first 10 games then fell off a cliff. But it was a lot of fluky wins and their underlying stats were still pretty bad. You could kind of tell it wasn’t sustainable, though I don’t think anyone expected things to get as bad as they did. I’m cautiously optimistic this time is different. Im hoping this is more like a continuation of the good play to end last season. Their underlying stats look pretty good too, outside of maybe shots allowed. I was skeptical they did enough in the offseason (they have the youngest and cheapest roster in the NHL). But I’m starting to become a believer of this new young core. All I know for sure is that I’m actually excited to watch Sabres hockey again.
  18. Sabres are playing some really good hockey!!
  19. Sabres played well last night. Calgary was undefeated entering that game. Comrie looks legit so far. I was hoping for him to simply just be league average. That would be a big step up for Buffalo. But so far he’s been even better than that. Really hope it continues! Sounds like he works his ass off. https://theathletic.com/3708192/2022/10/19/sabres-oilers-eric-comrie/ i thought this was interesting.⬇️ I questioned that strategy at the time. I wasn’t sure what the Sabres were thinking. I was worried they were hurting his confidence. Comrie only played on the road when the Sabres were icing AHL/juniors lineups, against the other teams NHL lineups. He predictably got lit up. Interesting to read that Comrie requested to play those nights. i guess Granato had the same concern.
  20. Are the Sabres games on ESPN + in 4k? If so I may have to subscribe.
  21. Wow. More than I expected. Im good. Give me OBJ for no assets but cap space please!
  22. I hope he plays this week against the Chiefs! Its going to be interesting to see what Shanahan does with Deebo and Mccaffrey both on the field at the same time! He would’ve been nice in Buffalo, but I was kind of spooked by all his injuries, and his cap hit beyond this season.
  23. I agree. I am guessing he was drafted with the thought of developing him on the practice squad for a year or two like they’ve done with other late round picks. I think it’s too soon to say for sure that he was a missed pick. He obviously didn’t make the roster but I don’t think that means he’s a missed pick. He could still eventually end up back on our practice squad and/or develop into a backup or starter. Time will tell. It might have been best for him if he did stay here with our coaching staff. But he was claimed off waivers. Twice now. Obviously other teams see something in him that’s worth developing.
