Huh. Interesting. I find that surprising when you hear guys like Kyle say that they always know where they stand with McD and he always shoots them straight. Seems like he usually plays the guys that earn it, too. But I definitely do believe you. I know you have good, legit sources. I’d love to hear more details sometime (if you ever wanted to pm me, I can keep a secret.... ? lol). You cant please everyone, I guess. I’m sure there are guys who hate Belichick (understandably so...lol) and same probably goes for every other coach around the NFL. I can’t imagine any are universally loved by every player. Ultimately, as long as they are good coaches and they win, that’s what matters most. Still, I have to wonder why they hate him? Personality? Coaching style? Shipping friends out of town?

Dahlin was as advertised. His ability to transition out of the defensive zone is going to be HUGE for the Sabres. His passing also stood out. Very well rounded defenseman already. Amazing that he’s only 18, and has only been a defenseman since 14... sky’s the limit for him. Tage Thompson really impressed me tonight. He stood out. A lot more skilled than I expected. And he knows how to use his size. Didn’t look awkward at all (I thought he would being so tall and all...). Boy, he’s got a hell of a shot, too. He looks like he has top 6 potential for sure. Nylander also stood out to me. He was around the puck a lot, and made a lot of nice plays. Consistent effort all night too, which was great to see. He has so much talent, and is still so young. It would be huge for Buffalo if he works out. Olofsson’s shot is also as advertised, and his release is just lightning fast. Borgen was great defensively. Very physical. Very good in his own zone and on the PK. Laaksonen flashed his skill tonight. You can see why Buffalo made him a 3rd round pick. Asplund played a very good 2 way game. Showed his defensive ability and also made some nice plays. I love his motor. Kid is relentless. Thought Cole Coskey had a nice showing for himself. Mittelstadt was disappointing. He looked disinterested to me or something. If that was the case I get it. He knows he has a spot in Buffalo and I’m sure doesn’t want to risk injury so close to his first camp. Hickey struggles to start the game. But I thought he settled in during the 3rd. All in all, very nice showing by the Sabres prospects. It gets you excited for the future.

Darby trade already one of the worst in Bills history
BillsFan4 replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh yay, another terrible yeezus thread... Honest question for you yeezus - Are you a fan of s other team trolling us? If you’re not, why do you post on a Bills board, or even follow the Bills, when you so clearly hate the team? Oh, and Darby was traded because he didn’t fit the new scheme. He was struggling badly to pick up the zone concept (which is harder to understand than man coverage). -

Life on the Sidelines: Brian Daboll
BillsFan4 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have high hopes for Brian Daboll. I just hope he gets a chance to stick around for a while even if the offense struggles a bit this year. I think it’s important for the offense as a whole, and specifically the QBs (especially Josh Allen) to have continuity. I don’t want Josh trying to learn another new system next year. Daboll seems more more than smart enough to figure things out, and I really like the concept he has for the offense - tailor the offense to what your players do well, and to the opponent each week. Hopefully he’s able to execute that plan with what he currently has to work with... -
Obviously, he was talking about steroids. Gotta bulk Nate up so he doesn’t get killed playing behind this O line... lol j/k.

They are 110% all in for the next few years. Because after that, their salary cap is going to be a big issue and they know it. They obviously feel that they need to win, and win quick, to grab the attention of the LA market. They will be a very interesting team to follow, that’s for sure!

Might have been thr best episode yet, and that is saying something. Excellent series. I am beyond impressed with Sean McDermott. I have said it before, but I’ll say it again -he is a leader of men. I truly feel that we got the right coach this time. There will be mistakes and things that he can do better. But he will figure it out. I think back to that quote Steve Tasked shared from Dan Rooney. Rooney said “you just hire the smartest guy you can find and you support him until he figures it out”. I think that quote applies perfectly to Sean McDermott. One of the best things about SM is that he isn’t set in his ways like some veteran coaches are. He’s constantly willing to adapt and learn. He doesn’t think he has it all figured out. He knows he has to keep improving every day, just like his players do. Another great quote by Dan Rooney that makes me think of Sean McDermott - “But you don’t see Bill Belichick calling plays. He’s just taking notes after things happen. That’s what a head coach does. He manages the staff. He points them in the right direction, maybe some specific instructions about what he likes and doesn’t like. A head coach does very little football coaching. He coaches people. He’s a life coach both for his staff and for his players. His job is to get more out of people than they think they’ve got to give.” I don’t know what this season will bring, but I think that the Bills are set up for long term success with Sean McDermott as our head coach.

I think, for whatever reason, the Bills seem to play better when they are the underdogs and/or are being doubted/counted out. It actually makes me more nervous when I see them being favored. lol
-
Me too. I started laughing when he got off the bus and was standing next to everyone else. You couldn’t even see his shoulders... lol.

Damn, that sucks that this is the last episode already. Especially since each one was only 15mins long. I would have loved to see 4 more of these! But I am glad that they decided to do this. Hopefully it’ll be a yearly thing now. Esit - btw, thank you 26 for posting the twitter links along with the Facebook ones! I appreciate that.

Well, I guess this is as good a place for this as any... This looks hilarious!

Stacked lineup for sure. I can not imagine any team in the tourney who will have a better top 6 defense than us- Dahlin, Pilut, Guhle, Borgen, Hickey, Laaksonen/Stephens. And the forward group looks great too - Mittelstadt, Nylander (who usually dominates against his age group), Asplund, Thompson, Olofsson, Oglevie and even Glotov, Cornel, Pekar and Peterson (if for nothing else but his age(24)/experience) are worth mentioning. With Luukkonen in net... That is a ridiculous lineup for a prospect tournament. Very excited to watch.

“The Bengals would have done anything in their power to get rid of Russell Bodine.....”. Also disagree on his comment about how “trading for Kelvin Benjamin was always a head scratcher. The Bills were 5-2 at the time, absolutely desperate for WR help and traded a 3rd for a damn good WR who was instantly the best WR on the roster. They improved the position in the midst of a playoff push last season, and still have Benjamin under contract this season. What’s so hard to understand about making that trade? I agree with his general point about the WR group. Obviously the WR corps is still a huge work in progress (for many reasons including cap space and no established QB which makes it harder to sign FA’s), but that doesn’t make acquiring KB a bad move. Quite the opposite IMO. Until the Bills have a QB that will help entice WR’s to sign here, or the cap space to overpay a free agent (neither are the case yet), trading for a guy is probably their best bet. And I know I’d rather have KB for a 3rd than Martavis Bryant for the same price... Were there other trades available to the Bills? I don’t know. Kinda funny he was talking up Vontae Davis too, after the preseason he’s had. Overall though, I totally get his lack of confidence in this current Bills team.

If you hate the Bills why are you here?
BillsFan4 replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understand the people who are skeptical about moves the Bills make, weaknesses on the roster, our starting QB, O line, D line, moves by the coaching staff etc etc., and I have zero issue with questioning it, or even taking a pessimistic outlook most of the time. Not everyone needs to be optimistic about everything, or “drinking the kook-aid” or whatever, and we’ve been through a lot as Buffalo fans. Pessimism about buffalo sports kind of comes naturally to us after so many years of abuse. But what I do not understand are the very small group of posters here who do absolutely nothing but constantly trash the Bills with pretty much every post. I don’t understand the point of posting here, or even following the Bills if you seem to hate every single thing they do... why torture yourself like that? There is a difference between questioning moves and being negative nearly 100% of the time.
