The drafted player/s to replace Sammy end up costing way less and lets not forget Beane had another trade in place to help make up for Watkins lost production on the field. The more I think about it grp this really was a smart business decision in my humble opinion. One way or the other we have to move forward... (Took awhile for me to except this conclusion)

I think getting a good WR thats not the 4th overall pick in the draft does help long term grb, looking at the bright side of things you do get the best bang for your buck building through the draft.

Why not accomplish both? Other teams seem to remain competitive without gutting the team of talent and you want to know why? Good coaching/systems IMO, and a FO That lets the GM and HC do their job without interference...

People look at what Tom Brady can do and base their opinions using the best QB in the history of the NFL by way of example. The Falcons have a very good QB and football team, but its very doubtful they reach the big dance without Julio Jones in my humble opinion.

The timing suggests FO move IMO. Late enough to allow season ticket holders to bite and early enough to convince McD its the right move to make. I agree PolishDave, the best thing you could give a rookie QB is an elite WR and the draft is to hit and miss to expect good results without a mix of veteran players. Sammy for a 2 was a bad trade in my humble opinion...

Going into rebuild mode is job security for everyone. Gutting a football team and bringing in a popular , but over the hill vet to appease the fan base are things Russ is fully capable of doing because he's done it in the past.(IMO) Did McD Seem like he was caught off guard with the Watkins trade? because he did to me. Disrupting the Dennison O by removing what has been the tip of the spear in Watkins up to this point is a bad team move on the field and in the locker room in my humble opinion Mat68. I don't think McD/Beane make this trade without help/push from above... ...maybe I'm wrong...

Good to see you to Buddy Myself personally, I don't think everyone was in favor of McD's decision to keep Taylor in Buffalo and Taylors success proves them wrong. Taylors success also adds wrinkles to the Bills (someone upstairs) draft strategy in my humble opinion. Who knows, provided he doesn't get traded first a pissed off Tyrod Taylor might be a good thing.
