Putting shady to the side however, just contemplate Chris Ivory.  The guy runs harder than anyone in the NFL; he is an absolute battering ram.  No college level DB and very very few safeties could bring him down.

Chris Ivory alone would decimate their defense with injuries. People are not thinking very rationally about this scenario. They aren't taking into account injuries, fatigue, special teams, etc. It's just the same points being repeated over and over. Sure maybe their great college receivers would have a couple catches in the 1st quarter before fatigue set in. Maybe a DPI at the 1 would gift them a TD, if they could somehow score from 1 yard out. Even in the best case scenario by the 2nd half most of the team would be injured and the rest would be very sore and very tired. At that point, assuming the Bills didn't take their foot off the gas, we could run up the score at will. Everyone who thinks Alabama would cover is assuming their talent alone is enough. Plenty of supremely talented college players have made it to the NFL and made it no further than their rookie contracts. It takes a year of the Chris Ivorys of the world to knock you down before you can truly know you are an NFL player.

You asked for suggestions and I gave you one at a cheap price. He would have had a chance to play a lot here.

Yeah but my point is your suggestion is no better than taking Foster as a UDFA. Adding a speedy receiver was not their biggest priority in this particular offseason but they didn't completely ignore it. They had a bunch of holes to fill on both sides and they've been experimenting with different receivers all year. It's going to take one more offseason for the rebuild to be complete.

They could have drafted a guy like St. Brown for example. They undervalued speed. They realized it was a mistake and have tried to correct it.

St Brown has to be the most overrated 6th round pick of all time. I don't know why so many people on this board have mentioned him. Right now he has 27 more receiving yards than Foster in a significantly more productive passing offense. Was there some mock draft that had him taken in the 3rd round or something? Why is he so popular?

The “can’t fill every hole in one offseason” excuse from happy was pretty weak. Even if you limit it solely to beane — he traded away Sammy and acquired benjamin and Matthews. Had kerley for 6 months and cut him the day after guaranteeing his salary. Never gave Coleman much of a shot.

Trading Sammy was the right move. He is nowhere near as productive as he should be with that contract. And it's not for lack of a good passing offense. He just isn't that good. Coleman is an example of what I'm talking about, they've been trying to add speed to the receiving group all season. I haven't heard any good suggestions from anyone here. Foster and McKenzie is the best they're going to get for right now. Next year with $80 million in cap space and a full draft they'll keep adding.

I loved that they wanted Kirk. They tried to get John Brown too. An UDFA rookie doesn’t count as valuing speed though. If anything, it’s an indictment on their inability to add speed that Foster was the best option. McKenzie was added after the middle of the season as they realized that speed was needed. That’s a reaction to a tragic passing game. They should have made it a bigger priority. Speed isn’t “optional” in today’s NFL. They treated it as such and learned a hard lesson. Thankfully, they did appear to learn that lesson.

It wasn't for lack of trying, just lack of good options. Like you said they tried getting John Brown. Foster appears to be developing and they took advantage of McKenzie getting waived. They know speed is important. They haven't had good opportunities to add it. Certainly the worst move they've made since coming here is trading for Benjamin and I'm sure they know that. I'll be shocked if we don't draft a receiver in the first 2 rounds.

The NFL has been moving to smaller, faster guys for the last 5-10 years. The rules make it so that these guys can get space. They are also less of an injury risk than the used to be because the game is safer. The rules all favor speed and offense. So what did the Bills do? They got big, slow guys that can’t get into open spaces and wondered why it didn’t work. That’s really dumb.

They tried trading up for Christian Kirk. They brought in Robert Foster. They tried to get McKenzie out of Denver twice. They have been trying to add speed all year. Of course they weren't going to fill every hole on the team in one offseason.

How about Nick Oleary...who found a job in Miami pretty d.. quick!

Nick O'Leary is the same as Jason Croom. That isn't a solution. There is a TE coming out of Alabama this year, projected to go in the 2nd or 3rd round. Just for the familiarity with Daboll I could see us drafting him.

Let's just say it: If the Bills were 54-51 winners last night, most of you haters would be LOVING this

Of course. But if this is what the NFL is going to become, I wont be tuning into games outside the Bills nearly as much as I do now. So much of the offensive production yesterday was due to wide open receivers and defensive penalties. There's nothing exciting about that. Easily the most exciting plays of the night were Aaron Donald's strip sacks.

These 2 coaches are amazing at designing the plays...the amount of wide open receivers they have on any given play is insane.  Hill is unguardable.  As is kelce.  As is hunt out of backfield.  On of them or sammy are wide open every play.

I saw a lot of defenders slipping last night. There was something wrong with the field. And the refs called every defensive penalty they could but a bunch of offensive holdings and false starts weren't called. Feels like the NFL was trying to run up the score.

We're not scoring like these guys are. Don't get me wrong, Allen played his best game and was a monster on the run, but these teams can move the ball at will. Against really good defenses themselves. I don't think much of the Vikings tbh.

I was actually talking about last week. The Vikings game was another example though.

I just wanted to come into this thread and see how "see, this is what an offense looks like" comments there are....

You know what's funny is the Bills put up 41 points against a defense that has statistically been better than either of these defenses, and we had the luxury of taking our foot off the gas early. Even with our questionable cast of players we are capable of this. I'd like to see what Daboll can do after an offseason focused on building the offense.
