What a friggin game. PSU played gamely. Until they started playing safe on the offensive side. Just bone-head play-calling cost them the game. But Ohio State was way better on both sides of the ball. Just don't know if they can beat Bama.

This is one hell of a game. With more plot twists than anything.

Here's how you win trades and make your team better: take a look at what Danny Ainge did for Celtics by trading away their declining stars in Garnett, Pierce, and Jason Terry to the nets: a bunch of role players and 4 first round picks. You OVERSELL the talent that you have. Another example: everyone knows you want to move a certain star player. He's not been playing well for you. He wants out. You want him out. You are going to lose him via cut or FA. You trade him and still get value for him. Carmelo Anthony trade from Denver to Knicks. Everyone knew Denver had to deal him. Denver was gonna lose him to FA. Yet Denver still got talented players AND 1st round draft picks in return for him. They got SOMETHING out of NOTHING. So that's the job of the GM. 1) Improve your team's over-all talent. 2) GET SOMETHING OUT OF NOTHING. And 3) Here's what's also bad about this trade - it IMPROVED A PLAYOFF RIVAL AT THEIR WEAKEST POSITION. Jags are great against pass. They don't have that DT who can stop runs. Eat up blockers. Re-read what I wrote. McDermott is winning with a roster Whaley built. And Beane's trying to dismantle in the middle of winning. Does 1+1=2 for you?

This and this. So you know what, the ONLY THING that makes sense is IF somehow, being in the playoffs ISN'T in the plan of Beane. Not McDermott, but Beane. (McDermott as a coach wants to win, all the time). Beane wants higher picks. Beane wants more picks. And finally, Beane doesn't want to see this roster constructed by Whaley to have ANY success whatsoever, so that HE can look better. THAT is the logic that makes the most sense to me. All the other nonsense BS about culture and stuff, is just gas, smoke, to cover up the real motivation.

Yeah Pryor would be pretty cool. How's he as a team guy? One thought I have to ask is - Schefter is a pretty credible guy around the league. He's tossed out these ideas because maybe there's some discussion going on out there?

But there's NO WAY McBeane trades a 5th round pick to Cards for an 8-game rental of a former 7th round receiver. NO WAY. And why would we trade Dareus for a 5th round pick only? And this year? If we're going for wild ideas, Bryant with 1.5 years left in contract makes more sense for Bills than this Brown guy.

It's a 1.5 year rental. After that he'll ask for big contract. I don't think McBeane will go for it. Rooks are much cheaper.

True, Gaines being out is a huge issue for us. Jameis got more productive after he left as I recall. And our LBs can't cover TEs. I didn't think we had the speediest linebackers (I thought Milano was supposed to be good in coverage) and people are going to exploit that. I'm not necessarily "calling them out". We are winning because of our defense. But well, the ease with which Jameis moved his team up and down concerns me. That's not the sign of a "stout" D. Say we didn't get that third turn over. Do you think we'd still win? Yes we won. Yes I still love our defense. They are the reason we won 4 games. But, I'm not as confident in this D as I used to be.

Bullcrap. They KEPT Whaley till AFTER the draft. EVERYONE in the NFL thought that was the most unusual firing. There's only ONE REASON for this move - they respected his talent evaluation. Your logic does not even begin to hold. 2017 draft is Whaley's work.
