Adjusting for era, we might have the worst offense in NFL history. I don't see how any coach can survive that. I too expected this team to be very poor (4-12), but I didn't expect this level of ineptitude. We can't block, we can't pass, we can't run, and we don't score. Additionally, I don't see any of the traits you see in top NFL coaches in Sean McDermott. He ignores percentages, and believes in punting and playing field position. He loves punting on 4th and short in opposition territory even though the math says that's clearly the wrong decision. Philosophically I just don't see a guy who is cut out to be a Head Coach in 2018. We don't appear to have any interest in analytics, and by default we're giving up an edge to many of the opponents we play. I watched the Saints-Rams game Sunday afternoon. Those teams look like they're playing a different sport than they one McDermott is trying to implement in Buffalo.

Wait and see when we're playing home games to half empty stadiums in December. If the team keeps getting embarrassed, changes should be coming because at some point it will start to hit the bottom line. Yeah, the Jets, Lions and Dolphins games are going to be half empty. Once it starts to hit the bottom line with fewer ticket sales, concession sales, and parking spots sold, Pegula should begin to consider changes. No chance they went into this season saying, "Terry, we're going to field the worst offense in NFL history, and we'll routinely get blown out by 20 or more points. We'll struggle to score 10 points a week, and our offense will be completely unwatchable because we won't be able to move the ball." I guarantee this regime thought they'd be better than last year. I think they legitimately thought Tyrod was holding them back last year, and that this group of QBs would be an upgrade over him. McDermott hates losing. There's no chance they went into this year expecting to be one of the 5 worst teams in the league.

I never said he'd be an MVP here. But I'm 100% certain we'd have more than 3 TD passes all year and would be scoring a lot more than 10 points per game.

We were in the game because our defense played out of their minds. Josh Allen was the worst player we had on the field.

McDermott made the trade. Whaley wasn't involved with the 2017 draft. Beane was here for the Benjamin trade, which was another terrible decision. McDermott runs the show at OBD. He brought his buddy Beane along, but he's the one in charge.

I don't understand why you continue to ignore that he traded for both of our awful receivers.

If he's healthy, I'd like to see us bring Brandon Reilly back. He was our best WR in camp until he got banged up.

I don't think Allen is going to hit. I didn't see any flashes from him. At best he completed throws any NFL starting QB should be expected to complete and at his worst he didn't look like he belonged on the field. I think you're counting your chickens before they actually hatch. Mahomes is a stud. If we offered the Chiefs Allen, White, Edmunds, Phillips and Johnson for Mahomes, they'd laugh in our face.

McDermott is out of excuses. He's trying to compare the Eagles and Panthers up and down performance while he was with each team as being similar to what we're going through now, and passing it off as being part of "the process".

The HC set this franchise back 10 years by not picking Mahomes or Watson. And you're giving Beane credit for picking Allen, who has shown no ability so far that he'll be a franchise QB. Edmunds is good, Johnson is a decent player, and so far Phillips is just a guy. The rest of the draft hasn't produced anything. You're celebrating a draft that might have only brought us 1 starting player as if it was amazing. I don't get that.

He might not be what he is, but I guarantee he'd be leaps and bounds better than any QB we have on the roster. Mahomes has always been an elite passer. He's a play maker in the pass game and would still be producing even on this offense.

This thread is about McDermott, who was essentially the defacto GM for the 2017 draft when Doug Whaley had been phased out of the inner circle and was just a lame duck GM waiting to get fired. McDermott passed on the guy who is currently setting passing records in the NFL, so that he could take Allen a year later who has never been an elite passer at any level of football. This thread is about the HC. Try to keep up.

It drives you nuts that the current MVP leader was available when our pick came up in 2017, and we traded it to a team who picked him? It should drive you nuts. It was the worst decision this franchise has made in 30 years.

If they wanted to throw the ball they should have picked Pat Mahomes, ie the guy who threw for 11,000 yards in college and did everything better than Josh Allen as a prospect. Trubisky got a real HC. Maybe Allen needs the same type of change.

I'm having Deja Vu from the Dick Jauron era. They run the same defense, and have the same philosophical approach to football and how to build a team. Both guys valued character over talent.

No surprise here. We have a HC who ignores the math, and wants to run the ball and play defense and likes punting on the opponents 40 yard line when it's 4th and short. Our HC has absolutely nothing in common with any of the top coaches you see around the NFL. This is Dick Jauron 2.0.

I think you can argue this about the OL, but I genuinely think they went into this season thinking they could win with what they have at QB, WR/TE and RB. In all seriousness I think the moves they made last offseason had them thinking they'd be better this year. I think they thought they upgraded at OC, I think they thought Benjamin would bounce back and Jones would take a big step forward, and I think they blamed Tyrod for most of the offenses struggles last year and thought this year's QBs would represent a big upgrade. When you hear McDermott, it isn't the voice of a guy who expected the offense to be bad. He seems genuinely shocked that they're bad. He sounds like a guy who doesn't have any answers because he got it so wrong at the drawing board stage. Obviously they were clearing out bad contracts, but I feel that they thought this year's offense would be better than last years, and we'd slowly be building upon our 9-7 record from last season. I think this is a HC who hates losing, and although they're would be ups and downs with young QBs, I think overall they were happy with their offensive personnel heading into this season.

I think they had a plan, but the execution has been terrible. The biggest problems so far, have been the players they've added at QB, the players they've added at WR, and their lack of interest in adding quality offensive linemen. Their ability to evaluate offensive personnel has been a disaster so far.

The offense was bad all year but the defense played well. Overall he did a decent job coaching. All of the problems are on the player personnel side. They've completely mismanaged the roster, particularly on the Offensive side of the ball over the past two seasons.

Point 1 is completely untrue. Both QBs had nothing to work with as rookies.
