Who are you looking forward to seeing play Thursday??
CommonCents replied to cover1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He seems like a really kind hearted guy. Loves the game of football too. They put him in as RB in the final preseason game and he took it to the house if I remember correctly. -
Super Bowl LII: Patriots or the field?
CommonCents replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At least the Warriors had to trek through the west, the AFC looks like a bunch of cupcakes. Who is the biggest challenge? Pitt? We all know how that goes. Unless Luck goes bananas or the Texans D plays like the old Ravens D then I just don't see any competition for them. -

Not if your last name is Roman. -
Reggie Ragland bahahaha. Any pictures of him in camp this year? I want to see if he is still rocking the love handles. They should keep Rags around as a reminder of who not to draft. I don't know much about McD but it looks good so far. If they can't play they won't play.

Sammy Can't Wait to Match Up Against Gilmore
CommonCents replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was billed as a press corner who struggles playing off when he was coming out. -
Uber charges customers what they think they will pay for a trip, if you go an airport, stadium, concert etc they will always charge a higher rate. Set your drop off location to a nearby grocery store, when the driver arrives just say oops I think I entered the wrong address and change it to the stadium. The trip will then calculate by the miles and not the assigned price that's given or the higher rate. Just trying to save my fellow fans a few bucks. FWIW the driver will be paid the same, he gets paid by mileage. The extra charges going into Uber's bank account not anyone else's.

He is bad at doing some of the basic things but good at doing the extraordinary. Fun to watch sometimes, hair pulling frustrating other times, hard for a guy like him to consistently make plays and keep the team in the game against elite offenses. I don't see that changing unless the Bills morph into a top 5 D.

I haven't seen Milano/Vallejo play so I will reserve judgment on those guys. I don't seen Brown/Alexander/Hodges/Rags being anything but place holders for this season. You went into a little more depth than I did, sounds like you agree that this young secondary is going to be taxed with making more tackles because of this LB group. That's a lot to ask. On offense I think our biggest mismatch is Shady against their backers. I don't see us winning but I hope Dennison can exploit that a bit. -

No doubt about it. My hope is that the secondary comes together as the season goes along. I'm still under the impression that the entire LB crew needs an overhaul. It would be great to see Watkins get some 1 on 1 with Gilmore. I will agree on that. -

Well they drafted a few man corners and are trying to make the transition I think? Burns etc. I just think it's a real stretch that the Pats need to be concerned with our offense when the defense we are adopting is Tom Brady's favorite snack besides avocado ice cream. Bills to to go 4-0 against Fins/Jets, forget about the Pats. As if Butler/McCourty/Gilmore aren't capable enough to limit TT! -

What does it matter? We have two safeties who have never started before, a rookie corner, Darby, some of the most unathletic 4-3 linebackers in the NFL and we are running a zone scheme against Tom Frickin Brady. If the Pats want to win those games they will score at will. I love Tre, Darby, Hyde but these guys need time together and some more help in the middle of the field from better/quicker backers. Even then playing zone against Brady is like buttering Bill B's toast. -
Are we ramping up to war with North Korea?
CommonCents replied to dpberr's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Sounds like Trump has 3 dragons too. Reading now that a South Korean report says NK has considered attacking Guam. -
I believe you can't be giving the ball to a limited player 573 times because in the end it negatively impacts your win/loss total. It's year 7 and another OC is speaking to attempting to teach Taylor to throw with anticipation. In short, teaching him to throw a football to a moving target. A little late for that. If the plane was coming it would have landed by now.
-
Bending yourselves into pretzels in an attempt to inflate the impact that Taylor has on the offense. He is a limited QB, every single coordinator that has worked with him has said as much. To properly compare his impact to a player like Shady who plays an entirely different position you would need some type of Wins against replacement stat and then some positional value graph. What's the average level of QB play? Someone find that number then see how far above/below Taylor is, but of course it would be impossible on which stats to use to formulate that. Each side would pick the beneficial stats to make their case. Bottom line he is a mediocre QB who doesn't process the game well enough to win against good teams.
-
How are you trashing the rookie Wentz for 14 interceptions? He was doing more presnap in his first month as a pro than Taylor has shown the ability to do in his entire career. Wentz had a terrible second half of the season, but you would be hard pressed to find anyone trading him for Tyrod. Manning had 28 interceptions his rookie year on 30 or so LESS attempts than Wentz had and he only threw 14. That's how you are determining the future of QBs? Yeah just ignore the guys ability to process the game and look at the mistakes he made as a rookie making a huge jump to the NFL from what the Bisons or something? Yikes
-
In what world does successfully taking a snap from the center equate to having a successful impact? EJ takes all the snaps, Zeke runs the ball, EJ throws for 3000 yards runs for 200 and Zeke runs for 1600 and catches for 300. So EJ was the driving force in the offense because he has about 33 percent more production? Right?

Gilly hasn't been participating in team drills and is now listed as the 3rd RB on the Pats depth chart. I know it's only August but as a Gilly homer it caught my attention.

NFL Cuts and soon to be Cuts
CommonCents replied to CommonCents's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wondering if he would clear waivers. -
It's a horrible way to compare a player's impact on an offense. To do so fairly you would need to come up with the average production from each position and rank them against their own position groups and then come up with a way to relate that to the run/pass ratio. Shady was a top 5 back playing on the top rushing attack. Tyrod was probably below average in passing yards and compensated for some of that with his own rushing yards. Etc. Any quarterback is going to have more production than a running back. I don't care if it's EJ throwing the ball and Zeke running it.

On September 2nd all 32 teams need to get down to 53 players, the league eliminated the first cut down date. Use this thread to list any cuts that are worth a mention and rumors of possible cuts. I will go first. Jacoby Brissett is rumored to be on the outs in NE. This is coming from a handful of local reporters and a few national guys. The Pats don't like carrying 3 QBs and apparently he hasn't taken a step forward.
