GDT: Bills vs. Raiders 2nd Half Thread
Nihilarian replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The reality is that so many fans would rather point at the QB for not being Derek Carr then see the real reason the team gave up three TD's so quickly. Rex Ryan's defense has yet to beat a winning QB this season. -

Think about how this team overlooked a player like Derek Carr in the first place. Now can anyone really expect this FO to find a better QB in the draft? -

This is a running team and should have gotten that run game working to keep the ball away from Carr while eating up the clock. It sure as hell didn't help to be rushing only 3 and letting Carr rip that secondary apart -

The Raiders look like they have such a solid WR corps and is easily as good as any in the league. Derek Carr reminds me of another QB from long ago. -

Yea, Taylor is such a bum for giving up three TD's so quickly in such a passive way! -

The Buffalo defense gives up three TD's and if the Bills lose the blame will go to the wrong guy. -

Whaley deserves a lot of blame for not bringing a legit WR

Now, now the Bills did do something this with the WR corps this offseason...they let Chris Hogan leave for the Patriots. Speaking of the Patriots, even with a receiving corps loaded with talent they seem to find a way to bring in more talent to their WR corps and sometimes it works out and at times it doesn't. This year they traded for the Bears star TE in Martellus Bennett and good thing now that Gronk is out for two months. They signed Chris Hogan and Nate Washington and drafted Malcom Mitchell in the 4th round. Still, gotta really like Justin Hunter and wonder why he doesn't see more passes his way this year. The kid has only seen 14 targets, 7 receptions and 4 of them have been for TD's! Things wouldn't be so bad if Woods wasn't out with an injury and Watkins missing most of the season. WR Walter Powell, WR / ST Marcus Easley, WR Kolby Listenbee and Chris Gragg all on IR. 13 players on IR, another 5 out with injuries, and 8 questionable with another 5 probable. Good Lord! WTH is up with the current Bills trainers and S&C coaches? -
Romo playing behind the best offensive line in the game in Dallas and can't stay healthy! Some want him in Buffalo with the turnstile at RT? The guy has had 3 back surgeries and 2 BKN collar bones and even if he could stay healthy and get the Bills to a winning season the guy is a playoff choker as he has lost 4 of 6 playoff games for Dallas.

ALL 22 - WEEK 12 JAGS - OLINE PLAY / QB UNFORCED ERRORS
Nihilarian replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good stuff Bo! I don't think many Bills fan get just how good that Jacksonville defense is and I'd rate that pass defense about as good as the Seahawks. Their D-line was creating such havoc with a simple four-man rush. The Keys to this game in my view were the multiple breakdowns on the Jags D in both the safety and CB covering the same gap that freed up Shady for that long run. The breakdown in their pass defense that allowed Sammy that big catch. Last but not least was their special team's breakdown in allowing that big return right before the end of the half. Bad teams make these sort of mistakes, though. Sometimes it's just better to be lucky... -
The Miami Dolphins also pounded the Pittsburgh Steelers 30 to 15 and yes that was with a Big Ben just coming back from an injury. And they needed an overtime to beat the lowly Browns. They also beat the 6-6 Titans 17-30. So yes, you could say the Dolphins this year are doing good because they have beaten a bunch of bad teams. They are currently 7-4 and I don't have much faith that they can beat the 6-5 @ Baltimore Ravens. However. they then face the Cardinals,@ Jets, @ Bills, Patriots. The odds I give them is to finish the season at 10-6 and perhaps make the playoffs and they have a better chance to make the playoffs than the Bills. The Phins are 5-1 at home, 5-3 in the AFC, 2-1 in the Division

Because on Sunday that oblong spheroid can bounce any which way and good teams lose to bad teams every week. Bills fans simply don't trust this year's team to be motivated enough to beat a bad team. Heck, they could have lost to the Jags if not for the Jags defense and special teams blowing up on a few select plays...but that's what makes them bad. The Browns took the 7-4 Dolphins to overtime and only lost to a few teams by 2-3 points. On any given Sunday! Stats says it's extremely difficult for a team to lose all sixteen games in a season and chances are they will win one game. Giants, Bengals, Bills, Chargers, Steelers. which will it be...

Don't look now....Bills are now a "Top 10 Defense"
Nihilarian replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Was anything I posted false? Did I post stats that were lies? The ONLY way posts like this will stop is if and when the Buffalo Bills defense beats a team with a QB that has a winning record and they face three teams ahead. Oakland, Pittsburgh, and Miami. and thank you too... for quoting my post so fans get to read it again. -
Don't look now....Bills are now a "Top 10 Defense"
Nihilarian replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What QB's, teams have the Bills beaten this year so far? The 4-6 Arizona Cardinals The 9-2 Patriots with an injured 3rd string rookie QB starting who was forced to start because they had no other healthy QB and he went on IR right after that week's game. Ooooh, the Bills beat an injured Jacoby Brissett. (1-1) The 4-7 LA Rams The 1-10 San Francisco 49ers The 3-7-1 Cincinnati Bengals The 2-9 Jacksonville Jaguars This is like a QB padding his stats in garbage time in six games. The team also lost two division games that they never should have lost to the NY Jets and Miami Dolphins if the defense didn't fold like deck chairs on the Titanic. This year's Bills team lost to the 3-8 NY Jets and allowed 493 yards of offense to those scrubs and worst of all Fitz threw for 374 yards WITH Aaron Williams in the lineup. Then the Miami Dolphins had a rusher run for 214 yards as the Dolphins rushed for 256 yards and 2 TD's and that Bills defense allowed 454 yards of offense to those smelly fish. The Bills lines were manhandled in this game. Lies, damned lies, and statistics... Yes, the Bills are currently the #2 team in the league in sacks and yet that somehow doesn't correlate to QB pressures / hurries because they are currently 15th in defensive hurries. Then, as bad as they look against the pass the stats say they are 8th in the NFL and as good as they look against the run the stats say they are 21st. -
OK, let's do this: Tyrod Taylor

And of course, nobody actually reads the article and yet makes comments on everything being Taylor's fault. 1st sack, rated as a coverage sack 2nd sack, John Miller gets beat 3rd sack, Glenn gets beat 4th sack, Second quarter, 4:48 remaining, 1st and 18 at the Bills’ 34-yard line. Taylor bails out of the pocket early on this play. Although no receivers appear to be open, the pocket was clean and there was time for Taylor to let things unfold. Instead, he tucked the ball and ran. looks like another coverage sack. 5th sack, Third quarter, 8:00 remaining, third and 2 at the Bills’ 33-yard line. This looks like another coverage sack. Taylor hangs in the pocket as long as he can with his eyes down field, but eventually is forced to scramble left and goes out of bounds for a 2-yard loss. "Ryan was asked Monday if there are times Taylor bails from the pocket too soon instead of letting the play develop. “I think Tyrod’s got a great feel for the protection,” the coach said. “He can sense it. Most of your really good quarterbacks have that feel. I think he knows when to escape and when to stay in there.” Ryan also commended Taylor on how the quarterback looks down field as he drops back, instead of at the rush. “He feels it and … if he has to escape, that’s what he does,” he said. “I’m pleased with the way Tyrod handles it.” I for one am happy to know that anyone that posts here has no sway on what happens with the players. Bills fans talking about signing a different QB like Brian Hoyer seem to forget what happened with Kevin Kolb. Hoyer is an IR problem waiting to happen as is Tony Romo! This after 3 back surgeries and two broken collarbones and 36 years old. Okay sure, sign Tony Romo and even if the team gets to the playoffs only to lose as the guy is known to be a choker in the playoffs 6 times winning 2x and losing 4x. Just think the Cowboys have had the very best offensive line in football the last few years and Romo can't stray healthy behind it. Like I said earlier, the Bills are 6-5 with Tayor and 2-3 of those losses aren't on him. If the defense plays like a top 5 unit the Bills are 8-3 / 9-2 with a good shot at the playoffs. The 2015 team was good enough to be in the playoffs last year and went 8-8 because the defense went into the toilet. From someone who watched the all-22 stated he thought the Jags defense had really good pass coverage in the first half and played about as well as the Seahawks pass defense. Taylor missed only about two throws due to inaccuracy. All I know is in the first half of that Jags game it was like a jailbreak every play for Buffalo as they couldn't pass or run for most of that first half. Cheers to special teams and Shady. Like I also said, I worry more about the Bills defense stopping Carr at any point over anything else. -
A few thoughts about the Jags Game (BillFromNYC Tribute)
Nihilarian replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It wasn't Ramsey. You can't have two players covering the same gap. “It’s a D-gap running play where the running back cut back; we had two guys at the point of attack and didn’t get the job done,” Bradley said. “The corner [Ramsey] is on the outside fitting of the D-gap and the safety [Gipson] is on the inside fitting of the D-gap. If they were both on the outside of the D-gap, then they’re wrong. I don’t know if that helps you.” http://jacksonville.com/jaguars/2016-11-28/jaguars-notebook-who-blame-mccoy-75-yard-td-run Kind of a shame Tyrod didn't get the ball to Sammy more than three times all game. -

I agree he holds the ball far too long and yet he doesn't attempt to force something he isn't sure of...which is what kills even QB's with a better skills set. Tyrod will never be confused with Derek Carr and I doubt the latter would have survived in this teams offense. I would love to have Derek Carr as the Bills QB or at least someone who would throw more than three times to Watkins all game. The thing is the Bills have Tyrod Taylor and are winning with him at QB AND he isn't the biggest issue with the current team IMO. -
And that win was against a Patriots team who were forced to start an injured rookie 3rd string QB who went on IR right after the game! Perhaps I should have said, the Bills haven't won a game against a QB with a winning record this year and they face the 9-2 Raiders on...the...road, the 6-5 Steelers, the 7-4 Dolphins.

While I agree that the Dolphins almost screwed themselves with all the defensive penalties in allowing the Bills to move right down the field and score in the fourth quarter. And I also see that the Bills couldn't get their run game going against Miami as Shady shouldn't have even played with a bad hamstring, 8 attempts for 11 yards. Along with Gillislee 5 attempts for 20 yards. I also saw a Bills defense give up 454 yards of offense to the Phins that day. With Miami RB Jay Ajayi rushing for 212 yards!! Miami also had two scoring drives of 64 yards and 74 yards in the fourth quarter AND the Bills were dominated on both sides of the line that day. EDIT: Oh, BTW. It was Bills 17 Miami 14 at the start of that 4th quarter and it was was the Bills defense that wore down in giving up those two long drives to the phins in the 4th. Think of that! Without a solid run game, the Bills were winning that game up until the defense gave up those two long scoring drives to Miami!!
