It was more like Bandit, Metz and myself liked Allen and the rest loved Rosen...the chosen. Most of the board wanted the Bills to trade up to the #2 spot to draft Rosen.

I'm kind of hoping that a new marketing person might bring some new advertisers to the camp as the last few years it's gotten worse and worse.

Not entirely surprising as I've heard things about the man over the years from people that knew him personally. That at times he was a weasel. I never wanted him fired, just away from the football side. Now though, glad he is done.

Naturally, this is all Baker Mayfield's agent talking... No way the Patriots were after Mayfield in that #2 spot unless they were willing to give up their 2019 first perhaps or the Bills would have made a deal. Mayfield just didn't grade that high. Even then I don't buy the Mayfield stuff of him being sought after by the Patriots. Mostly because of the kid's personality wouldn't fit in with Bill Belichick at all. Ole Bill doesn't like crotch grabbers. Then the Giants weren't going give up that #2 spot just like the Broncos were waiting to see who fell to them at the #5 pick and it was Chubb so no way they trade out. Same with the Colts and taking Quinton Nelson. Buffalo made the earliest deal they could with TB and they overpaid considering the values. But then we don't know who else was after Josh Allen, we have an idea it was Arizona and it could have been both Miami and New England too would be my guess. Then looking how little the Cards gave up for Rosen leads me to think nobody else wanted the guy. This!

Both QBs were initially accepted as "about time the team drafted a QB". The problem was looking at the regimes both were drafted into as I highly doubt any QBs drafted could succeed in Buffalo with the morons in charge during those times! The crappy coaching staffs, the bad schemes, the bad offensive lines all started right after the team fired a good GM in John Butler. Tom Donahoe traded for Drew Bledsoe and attempted to draft an LT to upgrade the offensive line and yet while the intentions were good and in the right spot, he failed in that pick because of bad scouting. Bledsoe was a brilliant passer when protected and a disaster when under pressure. Needless to say, that bad offensive line kept happening year after year. JP briefly looked good in 2006 but the lack of quality coaching, offensive scheme, lack of a decent offensive line ultimately did him in that as time went on he was seeing, hearing phantom sackers. EJ had mostly the same problems only more pronounced considering he had no QB coach, no veteran QB and the only guy teaching him in his rookie year was an OC who had never been an NFL OC. No QB could develop under those conditions. Trent Edwards, speaking of bad offensive lines. Edwards was concussed right out of the NFL. Bottom line here is the majority of this fan base wanted the frail, fragile but slick QB in Josh Rosen and are upset the Bills drafted Allen. Currently, the Bills have three young QB's on the roster just like they did in 2013 except AJ has some good bench experience. I'm very concerned about the offensive coaching in developing Allen, Peterman and that hot garbage offensive line. I only hope to god that Allen doesn't get thrown into the fire this year. Or, the end result might be what we all saw with JP, EJ, TE.

When you think that the majority of this board wanted the Bills to trade up to the #2 spot to draft Rosen while giving up six of their top picks and perhaps even the #1 in 2019. The Bills got two of the best players in their class in this years draft, best QB, best linebacker. Beane killed it this year.

I greatly admire this kids heart and determination in knowing that he was turned down by 800+ schools and still found his way into a program to be the starting QB. Then once he got there he played well enough to have back to back winning seasons 8-6, 8-5 with his final season a bowl game win. Now go back and look at that program before Allen 2-10, 4-8, 5-7, 4-8 When he first got to Wyoming he was this scrawny 198lb weakling and grew into that big 240 lb frame. EJ wishes he had Allen's arm and IQ. The only thing that concerns me about this season is if the team is going to upgrade the offensive line after trading away Glenn and losing Incognito, Woods. That line is hot garbage now and no QB is going to play well unless it is fixed. Oh, and I dunno know or understand why you think Beane "blew" the 2018 draft. Yeah, he blew it alright, blew it out into outer space. Most every Bills fan on this board wanted Beane to trade up to the #2 spot to select Josh Rosen thus giving up the Bills two #1s, two #2s, two #3s and some even wanted to give up the 2019 first round pick too. Not only did Beane get the Bills future franchise QB in the first round he also got the best linebacker too. Two blue-chip players, he killed it!

Do some research and if you still don't like him then wait until he plays and then criticize his performance or praise it. If you can't get over some stats of his for only two years of playing then that's your problem. I love the kid and am convinced that Beane, McD also fell in love for obvious reasons aside from the physical standpoint. Allen has such as great work ethic, great temperament, blue-collar type who played in the snow, cold and wind in Wyoming. With no real experienced talent around him, he carried a team to an 8-5 record and won a bowl game. His intangibles are off the charts. I think Josh Allen was their guy from day one and not only did they get the best QB in the draft they also got the best linebacker both in the first round. Beane killed it! Craig Bohl his HC at Wyoming shared an anecdote about Allen in a scrimmage. They had called a play with a pass to the fullback in the flat and instead, Allen threw a 65-yard rope for a TD. His coach said, Josh, what are ya doing? Allen replied "Farve says touchdowns first" joking of course. Bohl went on to say that he loves Allen. loves him, loves him to death. He also said he would see Josh out there playing during a game and would think to himself "oh no" here comes a sack and the next thing he knows its a frozen rope for a TD.

Jim Kelly had a severe shoulder separation in his senior year at Miami and that cut his season short. The injury was so bad he needed pins inserted to keep to together and afterward the doctors told him he might never fully recover a full throwing motion. Otherwise, I think Kelly is fighting Elway for that number one overall spot if not in the top five. John Elway, Eric Dickerson, Curt Warner, Chris Hinton. were the top four. On a different note in the 1988 draft, Don't forget that Thurman Thomas suffered an ACL tear and players had a very difficult time recovering from that back then. Plus, he had a lot of mileage on him at OSU with 897 rushes for 5,146 yards, 43 TDs and 21 100 yard rushing games. He also kept Barry Sanders on the bench after returning from his injury. Anyway, Thurman was thought to be a top 10 pick in the draft and all those miles and that knee injury scared teams away so he slipped into the second round, 40th overall. I can recall the ESPN cameras at his house watching him get passed by team after team. Also, Thurman once stated that he played on two bad ankles his entire professional career. I bring it up because the Bills owner seemed to spare no expense on some really great team doctors back then. Rusty Jones was the teams S&C coach and Marv called him his "secret weapon" as the team would go to play Miami in 90-degree weather and the Dolphin players would be gassed hands on the hips and the Bills players were in much better condition. As far as Dan Marino is concerned it wasn't rumored he had a "drug problem". It was more that he was a party animal and it was rumored he smoked some weed. Probably from a team that wanted his stock to drop.

Good lord, I hope they don't start the kid with that current offensive line without Woods, without Incognito, without Glenn... Jeez, at least give the kid a chance to survive the season or his career in Buffalo will be over before he can finish the season.

Yea he was as so many here were disappointed the Bills didn't draft Josh Rosen. I still can't believe that Yolo's head didn't explode. Glad to see him come around and I think most fans will over time. The Bills killed this draft with two studs in the first when most fans wanted them to trade the farm for that #2 spot and Rosen.

Complete and utter horsecrap as they are nothing alike in the pocket. Allen compares to Cam Newton that he can escape rushers and easily run away from them. He is also like Big Ben in that he is so big it takes a ton to bring him down. Bledsoe was like Flacco in that he can run...like a mad stork on crack...rumbling...stumbling...bumbling. The biggest fault Bledsoe had was he couldn't escape the rushers due to his IMMOBILITY, and thus took far to many sacks. He also held the ball too long waiting for his receivers to break open. I'll tell you what though. I only hope Allen has a 14-year career with 4 pro bowls and a super bowl ring like Bledsoe.

I know you will want to hear this TPBF. I absolutely love the Allen pick at QB and the fact that the Bills got their inside linebacker in the first round too. Two studs in the first round when every Bills fan out there wanted this FO to trade two 1sts, two 2nds, two 3rds all for that #2 spot to draft Josh Rosen...a QB that nobody really wanted.

I agree with you. It is a bit scary at this particular point time that the Bills don't have that stellar/superstar QB coach or QB guru on the staff to help develop Allen, Peterman and AJ McCarron. OTOH, reading what Jordan Palmer had to say after working with Allen in that they had worked to fix his accuracy issues. Perhaps the team will allow Palmer to keep working with Allen. I say this because Palmer also worked with Deshaun Watson for a few years and greatly helped him. What's wrong with some Bills fans? The Bills didn't draft the guy THEY liked so suddenly the owner made the pick? Listening to Kim Pegula on the NFL Network a few days before the draft she stated that they were deeply involved in every aspect of the draft process except for the selection process. Because although they do watch film they have no idea what they are looking at...so they let the people that do know make the selections. Her Words!

If you listen to Beane in the BB PC Josh Allen was their guy all along and a perfect fit in Buffalo. A big guy like Wentz, Cam Newton with an even bigger arm, played in the cold, snow and wind at Wyoming. Beane stated they got off the plane in Wyoming to meet and greet the kid and the weather conditions it was like they never left Buffalo. Josh Allen was their guy...and I even question if it wasn't someone the Buffalo Bills know who released those tweets so the kid would drop in the draft. It was also clear that the Bills were fighting some other teams in a bidding war to get Allen as they paid a pretty stiff price to secure him. Could have been Miami, Arizona, and even NE. At the same time, nobody wanted Josh Rosen as Arizona didn't need to pay much to move up to get him.

I read the article and nowhere in it does it state that it will take Allen two years to develop. Perhaps you could copy and paste the sentence because I didn't see it.

If you listened to their PC on the draft they stated Allen is a perfect fit in Buffalo as the guy is a big, strong player from Wyoming who has played in the wind, snow, and cold. It was in Rotoworld news that the Miami Dolphins had told Tannehill that if they drafted a QB in the first round this year he would still be the starter. So if either Allen or Rosen were there at the 10 spot Miami would have drafted one of them.

Almost every scout, really? Stop making stuff up! Show me a link that states that anyone, anywhere stated it will take two years of development for Allen. I also think its probably the smartest thing this team can do is to sit their future franchise QB for a year to build a solid offensive line for him.

I realize you are a newcomer to this board. So, I'll take it easy and explain the best I can. The Bills were probably working the phones hard in an attempt to trade to up after Darnold went #3 to the Jets. From what I see no team wanted to trade with them except Tampa and the Bills needed to trade away two second round picks in order to make that deal. This tells me that they were probably fighting with other teams to grab that #7 spot. who knows how many? Then when the Cardinals traded up for Josh Rosen they didn't need to expend much so this tells me no other teams were even interested in trading up for Rosen at that point. Miami was probably hoping he might drop to them at the 11 spot. But they didn't feel that strongly about it or they would have attempted to move up too. Josh Rosen dropped quite a bit due to his injury concerns and he went to a team that also signed another injury prone QB in Sam Bradford. Speaking of Bradford, 9 years in the NFL and made over 110 million dollars. out of 144 games the guy has only played in 80 and his record is 35-45-1. Rosen is very similar to Bradford in that he is a very slick QB when healthy and Sams problem is he can't stay healthy. Bottom line is that neither of those two QB's would have been there at the #12 spot and Buffalo would have a handful of air. Instead, they have two blue-chip players that they needed!!
