Peter King made mention of that. That was really the only problem I had with their work. Tirico is a Syracuse alum and commented on the heartiness of WNYers. Sharpe is much better than he was when he was on NFL Countdown. The rumors floating around were that they replaced him with Michael Irvin because he really didn't do his homework and missed quite a few prep meetings. I guess he's learned his lesson. For all the bad announcing out there, they weren't too bad. I always liked Ray Bentley. I wish he was still working for CBS.

In that case, I'd recommend going with the insurance. At 23, a sales job is rarely going to pay very much, but the experience will be invaluable. Most young guys are paying their dues, learning the ropes. If you're lucky enough to work with some old salts, listen to everything they say. I did sales-engineering for a few years when I was first starting out. I didn't like it very much, even though I was successful. Looking back, I can tell you that if you really like building those relationships, you can be good at sales. If you're good at sales, you'll always be in demand. Give the insurance gig a shot. But try to tend bar once a week. Trust me.

Bummer. I wonder if the entire season has already been shot. John Spencer was fun to watch on TWW and Law & Order. Here's the Continuity Site. My favorite line he delivered on TWW: Leo is talking to Josh after he's diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder: "This guy's walking down the street when he falls in a hole. The walls are so steep he can't get out." "A doctor passes by and the guy shouts up, 'Hey you. Can you help me out?' The doctor writes a prescription, throws it down in the hole and moves on." "Then a priest comes along and the guy shouts up, 'Father, I'm down in this hole can you help me out?' The priest writes out a prayer, throws it down in the hole and moves on." "Then a friend walks by, 'Hey, Joe, it's me can you help me out?' And the friend jumps in the hole. Our guy says, 'Are you stupid? Now we're both down here.' The friend says, 'Yeah, but I've been down here before and I know the way out.'"

Dude, tend bar. You'll make way more. You can then say you have sales experience and get a real sales job (if that's what you really want).

That is sooooo true. Unfortunately, you need to be right 52.38% of the time to break even. Damn vig.

If you get that 60 minutes, will you let us know what happened with Ed Freckley? If so, I'll throw in the beer.

If you can hit it, keep it in your bag and take good care of it. It can't hurt to call it "Billy Baroo", too.

What does the RIAA have to say about this? I don't think that the guy's software enables copyright infringement, but like the article said... they don't care. The RIAA is so short-sighted. They could have purchased this software, set up their own library and partnered with Yahoo and iTunes. The stupidity is astounding.

Not true, according to Snopes. I think Wilma once licked Fred's elbow, though.

A serious question about farting in cold weather..

Greatest. Thread Title. Ever. As far as the why? I would imagine there's some sort of dew-point/water-content-of-flatulence ratio reason. -
Excellent post Nick. I'd pay a pretty good nickel to watch a game with Van in the press box. Too bad there wasn't a happy ending with the game, but all-in-all it sounds like a great experience.

I'll go with Daryle "The Mad Bomber" Lamonica. I know, I know, Howard Cosell gave him the nickname after he became a Raider, but that's a pretty cool nickname. Nicknames ain't what they used to be.

anyone have any dealings with aftermarket

Very well put, PTR. -
Probably something along the lines of this: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Matt is tied down and has just finished being interrogated by Tony] Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: See if we got something to drink. So what can I get you? You want a Fanta, something like that? [Matt takes a sip] Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: How is that? I mean, you sure you want a diet drink? You don't want something with some sugar in it? Salvatore "Big kitty" Bonpensiro: There's only diet. Matthew Bevilaqua: It's good. Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: You finished? Matthew Bevilaqua: Thank you, T. Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: 'Cause that sugarless motherf(er, it's the last f(ing drink you're ever gonna have! [shoots him]

I don't believe in Ghosts. Although, Ghost of BiB and G. Host do weird me out a bit.

Then why the hell am I keeping track of all these Bruschi "hits"?

One could argue that Eric Moulds worked for 16 years (assuming he started at age 6) to get himself in a position to participate in the NFL. He then toiled in such a manner as to recognized (and paid) as amongst the best in his profession. This allows him to make $93k/week. The guys that are the best at what they do in my industry (equity/futures markets) will make more than A-Rod.

Didn't Dr. Kellog blame all of society's problems on a robust breakfast? That's why he invented the corn flake.

That pretty much sums it up for me. People forget that Drew was 2-0 in AFC Championship games. That his numbers compare favorably with Fouts is like saying that Mickey Morandini hit more HRs than "Home Run" Baker, so he should be in the HOF. At one time, Danny White was the all-time pass rating leader.

I guess the guy's original column is gone. But from other pieces on that site, the guy apparently wrote a column calling for African Americans to "share" the n-word. His intentions may have been... well, I'm not sure what they were. Play with fire, you're gonna get burned. Here's a retort.

For the record: Not ALL musicians sell out...

Good Post. I agree with Wacka that most guys first pick up a guitar for the money or the pu$$y (99% of everything else in the world is done for those reasons too, in my jaded opinion), but that whole thing about living life on your own terms has to be pretty attractive, too. -
I dunno... Greg (Gaylord) Focker's clothes?

Common man. That was my favorite ICEism.

Here's the story... My emphasis. What the hell kind of sentence structure is that?

I run a pool for myself and a dozen friends. We picks college & pro games against the spread each week. There are also college bowl and pro playoff rounds. It's $200 each or about $10/week. It's a good exercise in learing how difficult it is to gamble while still having a good time ribbing each other on their Florida Atlantic -4 pick over Troy State. When I assembled the lines for this week. I noticed that there are 5 games with double digit spreads. FIVE!!! While all the talking heads like to float the concept of parity, no one seems to talk about the wholesale implosion we are seeing not just with the Bills, but around the league. I know, I know... the spread is just a reflection of public perception. But the disparity between the teams that 'come to play' and those 'playing out the string' seems to be apparent to everyone. Are more teams collectively quitting, or do I just notice it more because the Bills are doing it?
