  1. Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt. Really! The t-shirt says "I got Rivered on Drunk Street." In 2001, I was out the night before the parade with my buddy's wife and her 3 friend. All blondes. We walk into some bar and the bouncer says "Look at this guy. 4 blondes in tow." I said, "Look pal, I don't go anywhere without at least 4 blondes." Good times, good times.
  2. Former Electrical Engineer. Currently Equity Trade Desk Principal. My job is to say "No, you don't have enough money." Then they swear at me.
  3. Here's the story. In short, there is a mall across the street from the arena. Many folks park there and walk over. Starting July 1st, there will be a $5 charge to cross the street. Somehow, the thought is that there will be an inducement to pay for parking in the arena lots ($15). The arena folks claim that the foot-traffic leads to traffic congestion after the events. I'm not sure that logic passes the BS test. I mean, people are still induced to park at the mall because it will be $10 cheaper. If the former is true and more people park in the arena lots, that means more cars attempting merge onto Panther Parkway (the road we will be charged to cross). There's lots of discussion as to whether this will actually work. The arena is publicly funded. The street is also public property. There are always police there to direct traffic (both car and foot). My belief is that they can't do this. They might be able to add a $5 entry fee to the ticket and then get a rebate from those with parking. But won't that lead to hitchiking up the road? Any of you legal eagles (amateur or pros) care to comment? Can they charge the chicken to cross the road?
  4. The Sports Guy once offered the idea of an all-black "Weird Science" with Gabrielle Union playing the part of "Lisa". How come something like that can't get green-lighted?
  5. I like the Ides. I get paid on the Ides. If I'm lucky, I get what rhymes with paid on the Ides. Happy Ides!
  6. You can download the South Park edpisode from Operation Clambake. It's a website dedicated to exposing Scientology. Of course, Matt & Trey do a much better job. Uhhhh... I mean John & Jane Smith. The part where they have the caption "This Is What Scientologists Actually Believe" is all documented on the site.
  7. 3:1 M/F ratio? And I thought I had it bad at Drexel.
  8. Here's an interesting story from Rolling Stone about Scientology. Since Parker and Stone are apostates, the CoS would make Hayes "disconnect" from them. Anyone that has audited out all of their engrams can CLEARLY see this.
  9. A guy I work with has two franchises. He says the cakes are where the real money is. He and some other franchisees have a sponsorship deal with the Panthers, so I've been able to hook a few ducats.
  10. Did anyone read this and NOT think of "High Fidelity"?
  11. NBA... WWE... loud music... fake fights... what's the difference?
  12. Congrats. I made it a few years ago. And to think my parents never thought I'd do anything important.
  13. This thing won't go away. Citizens of Long Island unite!
  14. "Hi, I'm taterhill. Investing can be scary, but it doesn't have to be. In fact it can be quite fun. In the next 15 minutes, I can show you how you can save for your retirement, fund your kids college tuition, or pay for a trip to Hedonism with just a few dollars down."
  15. That hack pumps out 3+columns/week. You haven't updated your blog since the Bills were contenders. You're the Sopranos of TSW. Get off your lazy bones and let us know what happened to Ed Freckley!
  16. FWIW, I was at the tournament yesterday. I've been to this event 5 times over the years, and yesterday had the biggest galleries I've seen. I spent most of my time at the 4th and 17th greens. Neither hole was yielding birdies, so it was kinda boring watching everyone go for the safe middle of the green. I saw Jeff Sluman make a 20 foot biride putt on #8. As he walked by me I said, "Nice putt, Pittsfield." He gave me a smile and went on to shoot the low round of the day (66). I biggest crowds were following Tiger (of course) and Camilo Villegas. We left around 5 PM. Golf is one sport that is actually better to watch on TV.
  17. He bought the old one when he bought the Dolphins. It was a package deal from the Robbie estate.
  18. Prophet! Prophet! As far as the IRS is concerned, it's non-profit.
  19. It doesn't work unless you keep putting cabbge in the collection basket.
  20. Wayne Huizinga owns Dolphins Stadium. In keeping with the "Clerks" theme, he recently told the Marlins "You're not allowed to rent here anymore!!!"
  21. It will be hard to prove. The contention that Howard profited from "material non-public information" is not immediately apparent. Of course, if the stock deal isn't in one of the filings, then there could be some problems for the company. I would think this suit will be settled. Stern certainly talked quite a bit about his move to satellite over his last 14 months. There were lots of references to other programming that would seem to violate his CBS/Infinity contract. Right now the SEC is involved in a much larger issue: naked shorting. The Overstock CEO was on CNBC again this morning. This guy gets crazier every time I see him. He does, however, make some good points about naked shorting. On the other hand, his company is going down the tubes. [i have no position in either SIRI or OSTK.]
  22. It's rated quite highly by Frodor's. Make sure you brush up on your Juice Newton... just in case you're asked to sing the fight song.
