  1. We can win enough games to get a wilcard berth with Tyrod. Fixing the defense and adding weapons/RT will help any potential QB, not just Tyrod. A deal making Tyrod the 20th highest paid QB in the NFL is not the reason we'd be 'cap strapped'. Is this Jeopardy? Did you just give the answer and then ask the question? How is it settling if you're still actively pursuing upgrades?
  2. Maybe if we didn't fool around with concepts that don't fit our personnel in weeks 1 and 2 we'd be 9-7 instead of 7-9?
  3. Tom Brady isn't a runner. The Patriots don't run read option plays or QB rollouts very often. Russ Wilson is short and athletic, he gets rolled out very often so that he has open passing lanes and the option to run if needed. Both the Pats* and Seahawks are perennial superbowl contenders. You always design to your players strengths, not for future imaginary players.
  4. After week 2 - we didn't score less than 16 points again until Tyrod got benched After week 2 - we won as many games as we lost, instead of losing all of them After week 2 - Our OC called plays and prepared in a way that was more suited to our personnel Why are you so interested in developing a QB who isn't the long term answer into something he's not when he's a perfectly capable bridge QB as is? This is the NFL, you play to win the games. And to do it consistently you use your personnel as effectively as possible. Establishing a quick timing based short passing offense will not magically create us a Tom Brady. You have to find him and then adjust your scheme to him. Development is not the same as transformation. Tyrod is what he is, he isn't going to be Tom or Ben. Use his skillset properly, and you might get Russ Wilson on a good day. Don't put square pegs in round holes, and don't use a hammer to make it work. That's how you break things.
  5. I think you forgot who our OC and offensive personnel were to start the year. Roman's offense has never been about passing plays period, let alone 'um big boy passing plays'. His route concepts and combinations are consistently slow developing and poorly timed. He also has a history of being more focused on passing outside the numbers than any mysterious OC you are imagining we had.
  6. Silly me. Why would I expect my coach to adjust their system to enhance our current personnel's strengths while masking their weaknesses. Surely no successful staff does that...
  7. Sounds like something that would get you fired 2 weeks into the season
  8. Or, for comparisons sake, we can look at Alex Smith's last contract (cap hit-wise): 2015: $15,600,000 2016: $17,800,000 2017: $16,900,000 2018: $20,600,000 I went through their pertinent stats over the past 2 years in another thread, for comparison's sake.
  9. Apparently McDermott worked with his son, Scott Turner in Carolina.
  10. Unlikely, sounds like he's free to interview anywhere and our targets appear to be Mike McCoy and Norv Turner.
  11. Probably also why we originally targeted their DB coach as our potential DC!
  12. Yes, because we've never pointed to coaches and said, 'Terrible HC, Great Coordinator' (Schwartz, Rex, Haley, etc.) A HC cannot put the time into one side of the ball to bear responsibility for it like when they are a coordinator. They are busy bearing the responsibility for overall team preparation, clock management, game situation management, roster management, etc.
  13. He wasn't the OC with Rivers, but who's counting?
  14. You're right, we shouldn't care that an average journeyman had his best year under McCoy and we shouldn't care that a trashcan QB like Delhomme made it to the Superbowl under his teaching. Personally, I think it says something when some of these guys all have their best years and most success under his watch.
  15. General Overview: Kyle Orton had his best passing year under him Won a Playoff game with Tebow as his QB, and customized his offense to fit Tebow's abilities Went to the Superbowl with Jake Delhomme as QB (He was QB coach at the time I think)
  16. Even they don't actually commit to it. Lotsa guesswork there.
  17. Weird, he doesn't even interview until tomorrow...
  18. Jeremy Fowler ESPN Staff Writer Mike Tomlin and Sean McDermott - William and Mary teammates, head coaches of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills (via @TribeAthletics)
  19. [looks to his right at Russ]...[casually gets up and walks out]
  20. "I'm really hoping this goes over better than the last 2 Bills press conferences..."
  21. "If our Front Office is any indication, we will lead the league in Toxic Differential"
  22. Going by Spotrac, here are the options for this thread: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/buffalo-bills/
  23. Is it bananas if Monos was the one who actually picked McDermott?
  24. UFA, here on a 1 year deal as far as I know. Could be wrong though!
