  1. Where's Watkins...... Night and day if he's playing @ 100%.
  2. The Bills are comfortably ahead and all is good. The passing attack is weak and misses Sammy terribly. TT has done it more with his feet and as long as they are ahead things are smooth and efficient. Am concerned if they need to come from behind or protect a lead.
  3. And I stand by my analysis (and have been consistent since last year) that this was all Roman's doing. At least hope it is.
  4. Tyrod goes to the LOS. He waits 20 seconds for a play call and doesn't "survey the field". Often times I see Watkins in a good match up but Roman has called "his" play. Frustrating to no end. Vs. NYJ a great pass to Goodwin, a busted play where Salas was wide open and 2 last drive where down 13 points indicates the lack of thinking on Offense.
  5. How hard is it to look at Watkins and how he is being covered? He doesn't do it and Roman seemed happy with that as he gave the orders.
  6. Great post. I have blamed Roman since day one and hope I'm right. Watkins was picked fourth overall to be a star and Roman did everything he could to stifle it. The creativity and pass game s abysmal. Yards after catch is non-existant and timing patterns seldom. Watkins made an inordinate amount of catches solely on skill not easy passes. Watching teams and receivers run open and then watching the Bills is tough. Here's to better days.
  7. Greg Roman simply did not use Sammy Watkins. Pass routes and planning by Roman takes him out of the game from the first play. A minimum of 8-10 targets a game is a no-brainer.
  8. Geez and another pass interference on a pass to Beckham already because they throw it to him. Three targets in their frist two possessions.
  9. Happy to see Roman gone. Any Bills game plan that doesn't have Sammy as the cornerstone is stupid. This has not changed and Roman is to blame. Terrible schemes, play calling, no sense of urgency and easily defensed and it never changed. Two weeks and all of 8 targets, and they never even look his way.
  10. Again I'm perplexed. Watch other teams and the motion, the ability to get receivers the ball in space and run a two minute offense and then the Bills and what looked as vanilla an offense as there was. As said every game looked like a 7 point game one way or another as there was no real panic or change in philosophy (outside the 3 win they dominated vs. Indy & Miami X 2) He did not do a bad job, just failed the following: Refused to target Watkins the first half of the season. Still underutilized the second half In game management and adjustments below average (KC) Tendency to let other teams back into games or stick around due to playcalling (NYJ x 2, KC worst examples) Formations looked the same 16 weeks (until the Jet game) Awful 2 minute offense Inability to come from behind (outside Jax game an eventual loss thanks to 2 minute offense) Fourth down & short yardage calls 3 & outs And for the day they showed they couldn't run the ball even when they tried.... Outside TT they had 33 rushes for 62 yards..... They were going nowhere rushing the football. Of all the issues with Roman, you choose the first two possessions vs. the Jets?
  11. But all those new formations we saw week 17, the 3rd down conversions, short passes with only one viable receiver (the one ignored the first half of the season so much that he went public with his discontent) and a running game that was lousy. I can't understand how it all came together in the final week, in less then ideal conditions against a good defense. Oh and a team that only played well when ahead and showed no ability to come back the second half and ran a putrid 2-minute rill....... vs. NE, KC, Wash (still lost by 10), NYG, Phil...... That is why I'm not sold on Roman at all.
  12. I swear that happened way too many times and then no play called for third down. Also only 4 penalties vs. the Jets helped too.
  13. That is as dumb a comment as anyone could make. The bills Running backs combined for 62 yards vs. the Jets. TT had 51 (and a TD) from scrambles and they finally converted 3rd downs by throwing the ball over the middle or on simple routes almost always to Watkins. Waited 17 weeks to see that!!!!!!
  14. Some good things, but waiting 'til week 17 to throw to Watkins, different formations and over the middle makes me question any accolades. Add to that, too many bad play calling, 3 and outs, terrible 2 minute/hurry-up offense, no real comebacks, no 300 yard passing games, red zone failures and an offense that always played like it was a 7 point game (when down 21) were all very concerning. If he learned anything I'm cautiously optimistic.
  15. This is a receivers/qb league. Watkins should win the majority of times if the OC has any brains. After the target second half vs. KC I still am not convinced about Roman. BTW the first half vs. KC the coverage was good with not a single catch in open sace and it was Watkins winning battles and good passes by TT.
  16. From the article........ The Bills are a much better offense when Watkins is heavily involved. He is the type of talent that won’t be shut down by any defensive back in today’s NFL. The only individuals who can prevent Watkins from producing are Watkins himself and whoever is responsible for throwing him the ball. Hopefully, this display at the end of the season will linger in the minds of the Bills coaching staff throughout the offseason. Rex Ryan can’t afford to ignore him as often as they did in 2015. Amazing what others saw that Roman did not.......
  17. No I don't expect it to continue, but also if you saw the deep balls they were usually into coverage and no YAC. Beckham seemed to have at least 4-5 long catch and runs in open space (if anyone cares to check) as does Julio & Antonio. Conversely last year I remember Watkins too having those play too (with Orton @ QB) and certainly remember the one vs. NYJ where he was watching himself on the big screen and was tackled. Now get him 150 Targets and let's see the results.
  18. Even the Bulldog (WGR550) got it..... The most important thing from the win..... Something I do care about is how the Bills won this game. They managed to control the clock on a day where their top ranked rushing attack never really got going. They did this by repeatedly targeting and completing passes to their best player. Sammy Watkins has had bigger days. He's made bigger plays and electrified fans with touchdowns. Tyrod Taylor has proven to be particularly adept at finding Watkins deep down the sidelines for big gains. What we really hadn't seen from this Taylor Watkins combo prior to Sunday was the variety of routes we saw them connect on. There were slants and crosses and hooks and screens and what do you know? It worked like a charm. Despite being shadowed by the great Darrelle Revis most of the day, Watkins still managed to go off. 11 catches for 136 yards with no gain longer than 38 yards and that came not on a long ball but on a short crossing pattern. This seems to me to be the way that teams treat their number one receivers in the NFL. They go to them frequently with a variety of routes and dare you to stop them. That Taylor and Watkins were able to do this on a cold and windy day would be impressive enough. That they did it on a day where there really were no other threats on the field for the Bills offense says even more. There was no support from the top ranked rushing attack in the league. Bills running backs combined to gain a total of 58 yards against the Jets. So while the overall passing numbers for Taylor don't jump off the stat sheet and Watkins didn't get in the end zone, I'll take the signs of progress in the form of the variety they displayed in their connections into the off season. Ultimately if the Bills are going anywhere with Taylor as their quarterback it will be with more days like the one he and Watkins proved capable of against the Jets.
  19. Would be nice to see..... Want 100 catches and 150 targets.......
  20. But I started my whining last year . I compared Watkins to OBJ and said that give him targets and we'll see how they compare. The first 7 games of 2015 was a joke (healthy or not) and Watkins was the one who aired his frustration publicly so this was not a figment of one's imagination. The last 9 games were much improved and the Jets game was shocking where Roman opened the playbook all were clamoring for, and in bad conditions against a premier back he was dominant. Add to that some imaginative playcalling and passes that fans have been screaming for (between the hashmarks, slants, over the middle, short quick hits and comebacks). And then we had the second half vs. KC, the NE game, only 4 targets vs. Houston and 6 vs. Dallas. 9 targets a game is 144 for the season, which still is not top 10. 8 is 128 or 21st. 90 catches would put him 10th and that is not asking or expecting a whole lot.
  21. Now if they get him to 10 targets/game it will be interesting. Antonio Brown had an average of 14.22/game the last 9 games (remember Ben missed 4 games). BTW there were 26 receivers with 1,000 yards (and Watkins was 22nd).
  22. I'm interested to see the YAC after today's game. Prior it was 105. Today I hazard a guess about 50-60???? Again where was that all season. The whole season he was open and often they played off him. This was not unusual. Today TT threw it to him and they lined him up in numerous formations. Don't blame Revis.......
  23. I think Roman was average at best. Today was the first game we saw Sammy in multiple formations and passes thrown in stride and many easy plays. Revis shouldn't be blamed, Watkins was put in positions where he could make catches. Why it took 16 games astounds me. Agreed.......
  24. Where was that all year???? Short passes, over the middle, yac, easy throws and catches, timing patterns and yes 15 targets!!!! All against one of the best defenders in the league..... Hope this is a sign of things to come...... Where are all those OBJ fans from the last two years claiming that Watkins wasn't worthy to carry his jockstrap????
  25. But it should have been so much better. Second half KC they forgot he was on the field. 4 targets vs Houston (3 catches). Lousy passes vs. Philly. Not enough targets when down 21-0 vs. Washington. Only 7 vs. NYJ and 6 vs. NE & Dallas not enough. A minimum 3 more targets a game would have meant 2 catches (based on his stats) and 30-35 yards and 240 yards...... Yes I am upset and it needs to be addressed.
