Oh and he has a QB & coach who make sure he gets the ball...... This is what drives me nuts, watching plays at the LOS and knowing there is no way that Watkins is being looked at or will be thrown to on passing plays. Watch the Giants and you know Eli is looking to OBJ or checking the defense to see if he can audible to get him the ball.

And who said they would have picked him (and then hit it with their next #1)? Let's start a thread....... Where would the Bills be if they Drafted Russell Wilson instead of TJ Graham in the 3rd round? So tired of people questioning the draft of a very good (and could be a superstar) player....... The issue is regardless of healthy or not they don't throw him the ball near enough times and generally have him lined up way outside....... The playcalling is ridiculous.

Has Tyrod Taylor had proper coaching?
Billsfan1972 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not fair, McCoy gets swing passes out of the backfield and almost every other pass is to the sideline or a curl. -
I hate people talking about drafts in hindsight. You don't need a QB but the one who falls to the third/fourth round and becomes a star should have been your pick..... The Bills should by now have drafted Brady, Wilson & Prescott with that logic...... Watkins is a victim of a lousy OC, who has/had little confidence in the passing game and still thinks it is the 1970's. 28th in passing in 2015 & 30th in 2016. A high of 18th in 2014 averaging 225/game proceeded by 28th in 2013. The team has not had a good passing since 2002 (Drew Bledsoe) and outside blips ranking 15th & 18th, almost always in the mid-20's. Used to blame itr on the weather, but it is the coaching and adherence to thinking the ground game will win for you.

Has Tyrod Taylor had proper coaching?

You have to give him the ability to make reads or it is a lost cause. Make mistakes and also some big plays too imo. To see a play called on the sideline that everyone watching knows is a lost cause before the snap happens way too much. Again the 300 yard debate. Have a game plan that is ready to throw for 300 (or at least 250), which for the majority of the NFL is pretty simple and happens multiple X's/season is all I ask for..... 13 Teams averaged over 250/game, Buffalo 190 and completed the least # in the league...... -
Has Tyrod Taylor had proper coaching?
Billsfan1972 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Making reads as the play progresses is expected and is a sign of progress. I'm talking pre-snap, where I see no changing of the play at the line and again the obvious a minimum of 10 targets to Watkins a game. That's a no brainer IMO. -
I asked over and over has Tyrod been coached properly. I don't see him reading defenses, I don't see plays called in time, I see him ignore Sammy Watkins continually, no audibles, no hurry up offense and an unimaginative offensive coordinator. The running game is good, but passing they are given very little chance to succeed as formations are simplistic and no creativity. I see very few questions asked of the offensive coordinator as to what is called and what Their is allowed to do at the line. The first time he reads the defence at the los and makss a hot read will be the first.
-
How about the tough questions about the coaching TT has received. It is atrocious. Watch him go to the LOS and not reading defenses or changing plays. Never seen a hot read, hurry up offense, slants and quick reads.

1Q and Cardale looked real good???? He was terrible until he hit a wide open receiver (after Revis fell). And really you want a 70 yo coaching who was lousy since his last SB? Please no......

Great Play calling yet again......
Billsfan1972 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Who cares week 17? You open it up and see what the offense can do. This team refused to be creative for do anything with the passing game all year. I blame the OC and bad qb coaching. -
And good offensive play calling. A good oc I'm convinced is all that is needed. Good rush offense, no creativity on the passing side.

You open it up and see what they can do on offense...... Or play it like a preseason game. This was pathetic. Personally I think proper coaching and TT is the best QB for the Bills. Simple tell him to look at Watkins and get him the ball...... -
Let's hope they are throwing the game, because to watch the complete disinterest and playcalling makes one ponder. You thought with EJ in he'd be given a chance to resurrect his career (or at least be offered a contract somewhere), but they either have shut it down or EJ is just that bad...... At least I hope this too meant Lynn is out of the HC conversation.

Punting on 4th and 3 with 4 mins to go in OT?
Billsfan1972 replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Two or three (and yes 2) it doesn't matter. It was a ridiculous call....... To defend it you have to wonder if he even knew what was on the line? -

Billsfan1972 replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is not a debate it is wrong, wrong, wrong.......Converting a 4th & 3 has to have over a 60% success rate based on the field position). Even if they don't it's on the defense to stop the Dolphins with a three and out and no fg..... The third down play has a # of easy scenarios to gain 3 yards...... -
So again they realised Watkins plays for the team
Billsfan1972 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was second and 10, still plays available. Two plays to get 3 yards and again no question that you go for it on 4th down with the season in the balance week 16 late in OT As for TT near the goal line, again bad coaching, play calling and understanding the situation. The issue is I never have seen TT survey the field and the defense at the line. He is given a play and runs it regardless of the chance of success. The reverse was destined for failure and then the third down play was a throwaway (where 5 yards and the FG is good from 40). The QB option by the goal line had no chance wither. Your best receiver needs targets and this never changes when it comes to the Bills.. That is coaching. -
Why when targeted the team moves the ball. Why s that so difficult. Of course come ot again for him when in red zone or on a simple third and three. Two options then him or clay. But the most frustrating thing is seeing TT at the los never reads the d or assesses the play. The Reggie Bush reverse or the red zone calls being two examples.

Two timeouts. In any case 1-2 first downs and the season is over. Stupid call. If you can't trust your offense to get 3 yards.... Btw they converted fourth down on Clays TD. -
Does/can Taylor read defenses
Billsfan1972 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A great comment by Trent Dilfer, which was posted before the season started and seems to have not changed. “We forget these coaches are supposed to be teachers," Dilfer said. "And when they’re not, it affects the players. And unfortunately, the NFL doesn’t have all good teachers. There are a lot of guys who have coached and have ‘OC’ by their name—it doesn’t mean they can teach. Usually you can tell if a quarterback’s being developed right by what his eyes and feet are doing. That offense doesn’t have a real flow to the passing game. The feet and the eyes don’t always match what’s going on downfield. That’s not a Tyrod Taylor issue. That’s a coaching issue.” So I don't blame TT, that is all on coaching. -

Never see him look at Watkins or the defense covering him. The question was whether he changes plays at the los. I don't see it. -

That's what I see. Never looks at Watkins (and I mean never!!) and not sure I once have felt the play was changed at the line. For instance if a run is called and the defense has 8 in the box, it's still a run......
