  1. I was watching the Toronto Raptors game and they interviewed Tyrod Taylor at court side. He discussed taking the season one game at a time and did not want to comment on how far this team could go. He was also on the court. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CTvPD7KWcAA_K0K.jpg
  2. Watched the Bills Wired for Sound on the team website with Shady mic'd. At the end he made a few comments that I agree with. He said he has had worse games than this. He also said he didn't care about numbers as long as the team won. Lastly, he acknowledged not having the preseason and being rusty. Even Tyrod was telling him he will keep getting better each week. In fact, most of the skill players missed the preseason. Hopefully this means the offense will continue to get better. It's a scary thought for all our opponents.
  3. But they will know who won't get claimed off of waivers by Saturday afternoon. If Simms is not claimed, his best option is to stay with Rex in Buffalo. This likely means he knows a practice squad spot would be waiting for him Only need to cut 3 more for week 1 because of Dareus suspension. I think Hogan, O'leary and Cassel get cut.
  4. Cuts were done early to see who makes it through waivers. I still think Cassel gets cut if Simms makes it through waivers and is placed on practice squad. This allows the team to have 3 qbs but save the cash. If Simms is picked up (possibly by a team like Houston), then Cassel stays.
  5. Let the FSU parade continue. Good pick up. Solid in college.
  6. This move make it look like mckelvin could get cut. Harvin will return kicks and cornerback replacement just got drafted. Would save some cash for the big dareus and Gilmore contracts. Not sure this was best player available but on Whaley we trust.
  7. At his plea, someone asked him about staying in Buffalo: Upon arriving, Dareus had a brief chat with a Bills fan who recognized the player inside the courtroom. In wishing Dareus well, the person hoped he will re-sign with the Bills before the final year of his contract expires after next season. "Let's see if I can stay in Buffalo," Dareus responded. "I want to." http://pro32.ap.org/article/bills-marcell-dareus-reaches-plea-deal-car-racing-charges This sounds encouraging. Now we need a reasonable contract unlike Suh's contract. Hopefully we get something done after the draft. Go Bills!!
  8. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000483912/article/jace-amaro-jets-had-tardiness-issue-under-rex-ryan Apparently players were late and there was no accountability. I am not sure how much of this is true. It sounds like players are trying to praise new coach such as McCoy's comments about Philly. I hope Rex addresses this at some point.
  9. It was nfl.com website. That was good for a laugh. Since when did Marrone become so highly recognized. You think with that reputation that our o-line would have been at least top 15 despite inferior talent. Must be his agent working the media to try to get him a job next year as a head coach. Already got him a 4 million dollar severance package.
  10. Tyrod Taylor was a free agent. He didn't go back to Baltimore or to Denver because he wanted a legit chance to win starting job. He didn't want to stay with Ravens since Flacco will be the starter there longterm. Be careful not to jump to conclusions.

  12. My concern with power man with Roman is that we need a mobile guard to pull. Hope we can get around that with added blocking from fullback and tight ends. Did Gailey's scheme work because of spreading them out or was Levitre that important to the line? He hasn't done much in Tennessee but wish he stayed.
  13. This topic is to stimulate discussion on blocking/ offensive line principles... What is Roman's scheme for the offensive line for the run game? What was it last 2 years under Marrone and Hackett? What made it work so well with Gailey? What kind of blocking scheme were used- zone vs angle blocking? The players are similar but very different results.
  14. This EJ bashing is ridiculous. Isn't the point that he is working on his game in March trying to get better before even voluntary workouts start? And I think it is great that Hogan makes the effort to work on his own game. I am sure these aren't the only routes they ran. That would be a short workout. All the haters are going to hate on all QBs we have until we find one because the odds are in their favor of being right since it is so hard to find one. And the ones they like are the unproven ones - the classic saying that the most popular player when a team struggles is the backup qb - that is until they see what they got. Personally, I don't care who wins the starting qb job as long as we win. Go Bills!!
  15. To get McCoy, we needed to send something of value. If he was cut, there was nothing to say we could have signed him. So we were forced to send an asset. As for Woods and Kiko, at the time of the trade Kiko was more expendable. What makes our defense works is the D-line. The linebackers aren't as good without the D-line. We need offensive playmakers that can make plays with our qb situation. And that is why Woods was kept. If they knew they would get Harvin and Clay, I think Woods is expendable. Harvin deal is for 3 years if they want and will relieve pressure off Watkins. And Roman plays mostly 2 wide receiver sets with multiple tight ends/fullbacks so it will be hard to get them all on the field. But they can't predict the future and there was no guarantee those guys would sign with us. It would have been more interesting if they didn't leak the trade until league year started. They would have had the free agent visit window before the year started. If they knew they might land Harvin, they could have switched up the trade to Woods. Not sure Philly would have waited but makes you wonder if leak may have prevented any possible switch last minute.
  16. [quote name="nucci" post="3509127" timestamp="1427112718" So you could see McKelvin staying or getting released? Brilliant Next time you should read the post before commenting. If they draft a corner early, McKelvin has a good chance of getting cut for the reasons stated. Too many variables now.
  17. Cassel - still a reasonable cut but only after training camp if he does not pan out as starter or even dependable backup. He is a low cost tryout and will not cost anything if cut (other than workout/training camp pay). McKelvin - he played his best when Pettine coached him. He has a chance to succeed in this system. But if they draft a corner in second or third round, he is likely gone at his price. His value to the team dropped the second Harvin signed on because it diminished his special teams importance. If Harvin is main punt returner, McKelvin would have to be a better corner option than Graham. Earlier in the year Graham was better but McKelvin played better for a few games before he was hurt. Tough call on this one but could see it going either way.
  18. Not worried at all. Last year everybody was upset about losing Byrd. Searcy (a former late round pick) stepped up and played well with help from Graham, Williams and Rambo. Basically this means, next man up. This is why they draft depth guys - to step up after a few years in the league. And don't discount the draft. We have found stud linebackers in late second and third round the last 2 years. Also there is solid depth at linebacker in free agency that when the dust settles after the spending in first few days, there will be great bargains left to fill out roster.
  19. Well that's even better...I can live with that. Look what Gore did in Roman's offense when people were saying he was getting too old. I suspect McCoy is going to be top 3 in rushing next year!!!
  20. 2015 - 11.95 mill 2016 - 8.95 mill 2017 - 7.95 mill http://overthecap.com/player/lesean-mccoy/761 This seems reasonable in the third year. I can live with this trade. One of best backs in the league. Look what happened with LT with Rex at end of career. And McCoy is still in prime
  21. Bradley on Hiring Marrone: 'Strong Sense of Humility' Does that mean he realizes he screwed up and shouldn't have tried to get the Jets job. I don't think he opts out if he wasn't told he would get another at least 3 year contract. His agent screwed up and Mehta cost him the job.
  22. I just saw that. Now I don't know if I hate Hackett as much. it will be interesting to see if he goes with Marrone since Marrone seems to be loyal to his guys (not sure if that is true but he wanted extensions for them). If Marrone gets a new OC, then we will know he was likely handcuffing Hackett. Hackett always sounds upbeat during interviews and talks wanting to do things but it never happens.
  23. These are a couple suggestions for QBs to compete with EJ... 1. Jason Campbell - free agent - he has experience and could be a good mentor for EJ going forward. Also Hue Jackson is familiar with him from time in Oakland and Cincinnati this year. When he was in Oakland, he had them playing well until a season ending injury. That was the year Oakland finished 8-8 and Jackson was fired after Al Davis had passed away. I know he looked terrible when he came in for Cutler a couple years ago but I am not expecting him to start. 2. Chase Daniel - trade from KC. He is now 28 and shows a lot of poise in limited action (week 17 the last two years). Not sure about using him as a long term solution but he has never had a fair shake as a starter (backed up Brees at one point). 3. Drew Stanton - trade - viable option as a backup who may still want to compete for a starting job. Injury concerns and unclear what Palmer's return schedule from injury looks like. Agree? Disagree? Other thoughts?
  24. Austin was not with Schwartz in Detroit. But I guess if any def coordinators become head coach, Schwartz is gone
  25. Obviously most people want the D to stay intact and that includes keeping Schwartz. Does anyone know if any of the head coaching candidates have history with Schwartz and would be willing to keep him as DC?
