  1. I don't believe they were interfering with State. They were asked to provide all possible options to engage Iran if the White House decides that military action is necessary. One of the (many) issues raised in the article was that the military brass objected to the fact that Rumsfeld/Cheney wanted a nuclear option, and the generals were able to convince them to take it off the table.
  2. Actually my assumption would be that you actually believe this story to have some truth, and I was trying indirectly to get you to respond to the content. I suppose issues about the messenger are more important than the message though. So, how about that Ann Coulter?
  3. yes, it's probably all fabricated.... He's certainly been fed bad info (or was it disinfo?) at times, but more often than not, his sources are good. Given your response, I would take that to mean you think all is hunky dory between the military (sans air force) and Rumsfeld on Iran policy?
  4. Interesting piece by S. Hersh in the New Yorker about the behind the scenes debate over Iran. Hersh article
  5. Isn't Halliburton good though? Why would a corporation ever screw workers or the middle class? I thought they always did things for the public good?
  6. Oh, by the way, burp...what was the topic?
  7. Do you think he actually reads her stuff? He and Rosy Palm are having a great discussion about her book....
  8. Hmmm... I must be sober. Time to get a drink.
  9. As I mentioned in another thread, I've been leery about global equities this year given that the Fed (and the central banks of many other industrialized countries) is in the midst of a tightening period. As GG mentioned, combined with the housing bubble ending (if not bursting), I don't think we've seen the worst of the equity slide. I moved a significant chunk of my portfolio into a global bond fund, which can also take advantage of a falling dollar. I'll sit on the equity sidelines until the end of the year at least. I don't know why, but it always seems the worst equity declines happen in the fall. good luck.
  10. I am very sorry to hear this news. He was a good influence on the PPP board. I will miss him. RIP GBiB. I'll uncork a good bottle in your honor this evening....
  11. Or was that sour grapes.....???? Buuuurrrrrpppppppp!!!!!!!
  12. those funny dems
  13. Must be Canadian officials tonight...
  14. Maybe DCDick is too busy posting here and elsewhere to actually read the article? Let's see, the CATO institute is Libertarian; the Financial Times is Britain's equivalent of the Wall Street Journal (but the lemmings bought his diatribe). Oh, wait, I get it, they must be anti-constitution republicans....
  15. I must be out of touch if the CATO institute is now considered liberal and the Financial Times is a liberal newspaper. Of course, given the politics of this board, Libertarians are now considered "liberal" by the arbiter of objectiveness... Tom, Dick, and Harry...I can't figure out which one you are...
  16. It seems he correctly evaluated the Bills' draft based upon their scheme and needs within the division. The "experts" who have given the Bills low grades did so based upon players they could/should have picked based on relative talent. However, the Bills' rankings were based upon who fits best in Jauron's system, given the talent.
  17. One of the ways the pass rush might be improved is with Tripplet and McCargo playing 3rd downs as Jauron stated is likely. A strong interior pass rush can be just as effective as the exterior, if not more so by disrupting the pocket.
  18. I certainly questioned not selecting a DT with the first pick, but It's about time the Bills will have a safety that will punish you over the middle (if only TD would've picked Roy W instead of Mike W). I like the CB pick too--you can never have enough. Interesting OSU connections: maybe Nate will want to stay with this group?
  19. army poll Just came across this; more fuel on Rummy's fire? I'm sure it's the media's fault... Yes, I'm sober... somewhat...
  20. Seems a little more serious than that--these are generals, not politicians. It seems most of those who are criticizing were actually involved in the war effort too.
  21. I sober up on Mondays...
  22. While the administration is trying to down play this, seems to be some serious critiques from some former heavy weights. What say you vets?
  23. I'm heading out to CA on the 4th for a 50th wedding anniversary party in the Bay area. It's been a great spring in WNY (and winter wasn't bad either). Actually played golf in March. gotta love that global warming stuff....
  24. Bob, how's life in SD? Any regrets leaving Bflo?
