Crap! i was trying to find something to disagree with here.... Not sure what your point is about the multiplier and 3% growth? There has always and will be a multiplier from injections of new spending, whether that comes from financed spending of businesses or financed spending of government. Ahhh...nothing like Elmwood in the summer...next time you're in town I'd be happy to buy you a beer at Blue Monk (that goes for anyone else at PPP or TBD). Cheers.

A few points. - As you said in one of your first posts in this thread, "unless the government (fed) prints new money," which it does every year. The Fed monetizes government debt every year consistent with expanding the money supply to promote growth. The fact that the Fed monetizes part of the Federal government's debt every year means the public sector helps create new net wealth for the private sector. It' a free lunch, because, after all, money is simply a claim on resources, and the government has a monopoly on its creation. How much has the Fed monetized over the past two years? And how many trillions of $s are corps hoarding? That's no coincidence. - So, really, that last part of your sentence should read, the private sector can't create new net worth without the government running a deficit. - So the Keynesian multiplier is dead, eh? Which means there is no multiplier from private spending either? There is a multiplier; it's simply gotten smaller as the propensity to import increases. The more we spend on imports, the smaller any impact from spending.

Cordy Glenn on list of Top 10 Impact rookies
TPS replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Given what the guy said about the Eagles, the Fitzgerald comment was definitely part of his shtick. He obviously knows the Bills and their fans. On another note, I hope this motivates Gilmore, being snubbed. -
What Bills are you impressed with so far?
TPS replied to Hplarrm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To sort of answer the non-question via what I've read, since we don't get to see the OTAs, I like that BB.com and/or the BNews had very positive things to say about Moats at LB, Bradham as a LB prospect, and JRogers at CB. From Mark Gaughan's article today: From C. Brown's OTA awards: And (from his honorable mention note), -
Mario Williams caling Mark Anderson "a little dude"
TPS replied to Doc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just watched the video from WGRZ. Hilarious the way Mario delivers the lines so seriously, then they did a good job in contrasting each line with Anderson's responses. Good piece. If the Bills meet or exceed expecations there should be some great interviews throughout the ride... -
Requesting Prayers for our little girl

Hang in there C, and hang on little one! Thoughts and Prayers. -
Sorry to hear this. They are truly wonderful creatures. While everything else in your life might be topsy-turvy, you always come home to the steady companionship of your dog.

I don't think so, otherwise it would've filtered out from someone's twitter. Once they got Gilmore, one of the vets needed to go. I think also, there was some analysis from a web site that showed he did not have a very good year (who could when there's no pass rush?). At any rate, there's a lot of young talent that needs to get on the field. Also, once they released Flo, they extended Freddie soon after--he got some of the money they saved from dumping DF.
-
As I recall, he said something last year about how good he was in practice, but somehow it wouldn't translate to the games. We'll see...but the incentive is there.
-
A month or two ago? Time flies... It was not long after he restructured that they released Florence.
-
I never meant this as a bash Kelsay thread. The issue I see is that they have a lot of talent on the Dline, and they will have to make a choice between keeping a quality vet vs. a younger guy with potential. It's going to be a very difficult decision...

I don't think he is competing against CM, rather he is fighting for the 3rd TE spot.
-
Not bad. I think the D-line cut will come down to one of Edwards/Johnson/Troup, only because of Troup's injury history. For the rest of the roster: 1. In the end, I doubt they go with the specialty kicker, because they'd have to cut a good player. 2. I don't know much about Williams who is listed as G, but if he can't also play center, Brown's experience could keep him instead. 3. Choice will probably beat out White at RB. 4. We'll see if Moorman can beat out the young kid? 5. This Dorin Dickerson is intriguing as an Hback/FB. Doubt he will supplant Mac, but it's possible they keep 3 TEs. 6. I expect Hagan to stick around at WR, but who goes? Martin has the edge on ST. 7. There will be a good battle between Carder and McKillop for a roster spot, and I think Mckillop has the edge in experience and former Pitt player. Unfortunately, I'm sure injuries will sort some of this out.
-
As I said, I think it's age and money. If one of them is only marginally better than someone like Carrington, I think they go with youth and the cheaper salary.
-
If there are no injuries before the season starts (a big IF with guys like Troup and Merriman), there are too many bodies on the DL, and one of these 30+, higher paid guys won't stick around. Who goes? I say Edwards is the odd man out.
-
I won't be surprised, in fact I think it will happen, if they carry 7. LBs have the size and speed you want on STs. Bradham, Carder, and McKillop all excel on STs. The LB position will be a tough cut. I think White will be a casualty this year, even though I thought he looked good in the few times he played.
-
Do you think it stops there? No response from Russia or China? This won't end well...

There is quite a history here at TBD. BiB was certainly a respected member of the community. I hope he found peace. I miss a lot of the old characters...

Are you sure about the impact on 401ks and pensions? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but those entities don't pay any taxes on retirees' funds, so the capital gains tax is irrelevant for those funds. Income taxes are paid once someone starts collecting on pensions and 401ks at retirement. And "capital formation"? That term is so 1990s. As for this entire welfare debate, I thought Clinton and the Republicans "ended welfare as we know it?" There are limits on eligibility and there are work requirements now. Since it's been pushed down to the states, there are some differences by state, but didn't the notion of permanent welfare queens die in 1996?

I'm terribly disappointed! I thought this was another thread about our new super TE "Onobun." The Bills are going to eat...everything Onobun. Brady Onobun. Sanchez Onobun. C'mon man!
-
Just to come up with something different, McKelvin. If the guy has the talent to be a productive CB in this league, then he will show it in his last year before hitting FA...
-
This should be where we see the "Mario effect" come into play, especially with Byrd--Gotta Billieve Mario makes it more attractive to stay.

Cornerback - Who stays and who goes?
TPS replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good call so far...I'd be very surprised if the 2nd one happens now though. Buddy is banking on Mcklovin playing lights out in his contract year... -
your comment made me think of Aaron Shobel. I recall watching a video of NIX a couple months ago and someone asked him about the rumors of Shobel wanting to make a comeback. The expression of Nix's face said it all, "that lazy sob? ha!"

Cornerback - Who stays and who goes?

I'd agree. Though a so-so young experienced CB should be more valuable than a so-so aging exprienced WR, so I'd expect you could get a 3rd for him.
