  1. If they were going to cancel, they should have done it after the eighth season. They pretty much ran out of storylines that year, but it has been much better, especially this year...
  2. Tonight, my second favorite team is the Pittsburgh Steelers. The good news is ZT ought to be worn down earlier than normal since Pittsburgh has a tendancy to bulldoze defenses.
  3. He's coach/GM of the Hartford Wolf Pack. Link
  4. That's funny. Maybe you weren't listening. (Or I imagined it) I thought I heard them say McCargo was in town and would likely sign today... Bulldog and Riter will be a SJF this afternoon for their show. Boston radio does not talk Patriots when the Sox are in the hunt. Period.
  5. At around 4:00 yesterday, there were about ~266 visitors at the Sabres board, and about ~208 here. Lv-Bls, you might have noticed the parody this morning where they were trying to go through sports news, including the signings of Lydman and Pominville, the fact Spikes may be out for the preseason, etc. All the way through it they had some crazy fan grumping about the logo. They do want to talk about the Sabres, the callers do. You say you're not a Sabres fan. Well, picture it's February 1989. The young Bills team nearly went to the SB after years of bad teams and was profitable for the first time in years. Unfortunately, instead of disolving the NFLPA (giving us Plan B) in 1987, they put in place a new CBA which included a $44M Cap (not that Ralph was going to spend that much since he didn't want to lose money on the Bills) and an arbitration option to the RFAs. Half of that era's Bills were headed to arbitration, and Andre Reed, the first one to get a hearing, was awarded a $5M one year contract after which he is an UFA. Next up is Will Wolford, followed by Kent Hull, and Biscuit. Suddenly, you realize that they aren't going to be nearly as good as you had thought they'd be in the years to come, even if Ralph wanted to open the purse. That's basically what's going on with the Sabres.
  6. My wife has relatives in Hollidaysburg, so I've actually spent a night there. Their kids are no longer in the area. One has a job in Germany after going to school there, and the other in Boulder, so the grade schools weren't too bad. Very nice area...
  7. That's funny, I was thinking Tim Vogler. Didn't Davis replace him after Vogler he limped into retirement?
  8. At what point in his career did he have a better OL, running game, and a good QB, capable of thowing the ball more than 10 yards, than right now? This team is into its 6 rebuilding year, and the offensive side wasn't very good before that...
  9. I hope he's buried in bacon grease...
  10. Maybe she was in this set. Granted, it was game five, but hey!
  11. Stunning and sad. A loss for this board, and a loss for our country. Rest in Peace.
  12. Personally, I think life in prison is more inhumane than the death penalty. That is why we have the jury system. A juror has to live with the lifechanging decision they make. The guilty party sentenced to life is deemed unworthy of participating in our society. Why should one cent of taxpayer dollars be spent on be spent on someone so they can rot or be abused to death. We treat a dog that bites better. Not to be too political....
  13. Great news! Believe it or not, I was wondering about you...
  14. Not to worry. Boston is spending our money putting up signs indentifying hurricane evacuation routes. Coincidently, they seem to be on the roads going North and West. Here's a quote from the article: Maybe few Americans outside of New England don't know about 1938, but the Globe has an article nearly every year about this hurricane. Off the top of my head: It was a class 3 hurricane with the eye moving north at about 60+ mph, delivering ~180 mph gusts at the Blue Hill Observatory ~7 miles south of Boston. It was forecast to hit Washington DC and the forecasters were about 800 miles off. There was basically nothing that could have been done to prepare for it, but I'm sure FDR got hammered for his lack of preparation and response anyway...
  15. Mr. Clutch, er, PTS, has a few more on the other side...
  16. Maybe LB or SDS can investigate whether it looks like the same poster... He did hijack LabattBlue's thread over there...
  17. Seen them in my backyard. Saw one in Dedham, MA, five years ago. That's about 5 miles from Boston Common... Llamas and donkeys are supposed to be good coyote deturrents... Really!
  18. I'm still trying to figure out what Sunny meant... Nice catch...
  19. I cannot comment on Braxton, but Cribbs is higher than Cotton in my book... I'd put Riddick above Harmon and Bell, too. Thurman is a tough guy to rank. Is he the best RB the Bills have had? No. Not even second. Is there another Bills RB I'd rather have in the backfield? No, because he was a football player before he was a running back. That made him a bigger offensive threat than anyone I've seen in a Bills uniform. He could line up as a WR and he could pick up the blitz.
  20. It's not like bad officiating hasn't been going on for years, now. I'm not sure NE would have 1 SB win without the refs...
  21. The silver lining for me is, as resident outside Boston, I get to hear Patsy fans moan about what could have been while I remind them they are on the downward slide...
