And the cited NR article agrees with me: Thirty-seven days without an interview or press conference! Right now, some Trump campaign aide, exhausted from cleaning up his man’s stream-of-consciousness messes, is thinking, “If only we could be so lucky.” When your opponents are self destructing, just keep out of the way and watch.

Nice to see Mr. Golden Trump Benz Bought American!

They "disorient" him! Poor guy, all disoriented. Too bad Mamaw isn't around to set him straight again.

I usually don't like these ghost duets. This is nicely done. Porter has a fantastic voice and it takes some huevos to put it up next to Nat King Cole. Fantastic voice, yes, but that Cole phrasing from being a jazz pianist, timbre, whatever else may explain it ... Porter just can't compete with him.

Exactly. Most of these people signed up early on. They obviously thought they could have a positive impact on Trump, channeling his PR skills into actual policy. They all failed.

Trump 2024?

See, now this is the kind of hard-hitting interview Harris has been dodging. Dr. Phil's MeritTV, whatever that is. -
Trump 2024?

Yep. War dead as political ad. Do people think that would be RFK voters are so out of the loop that they won't know that he's withdrawn? That he's thrown his support to Trump? If they are that ignorant, well, I'm not sure they should be voting at all. Shows you how much the Trump team thinks of them. -
The future for both parties and realignment

You said a hybrid of populism and classical liberalism. I'm not seeing how that works, but I guess you may be able to convince me. A hybrid of classical liberalism and protectionism is, on the other hand, a contradiction in terms. Kind of like authoritarian anarchist. -

Trump 2024?

Not at all weird. Not at all an embarrassment to Americans. -
A lobbyist is a lobbyist. They always know what side their bread is buttered on. Namely, the winning side. After Julie caused her hubby major embarrassment by going all in on Trump, I guess he convinced her that some major hedging was in order.

Thank you. It wasn't hard to see through her. A couple quick google searches and I discovered - back when the Trumpies started quoting her all the time - that she was married to a big Agribusiness lobbyist and that her suburban cookie baking mom shtick was all in service of his clients. Ask her where she stands on that new Republican bugaboo, lab-grown meat. That question would be certain to shut her down.

Trump 2024?

Because they now realize that letting Trump be Trump is the best strategy. And how about Trump's strategy: please muzzle me! I can't be trusted to keep my mouth shut when it isn't my turn to speak. -
Wow, marginal 70 year old Kennedy "kid" risks promising prospect status by throwing in with aging former All Star. What a storyline.

Correct. And as he always does, Trump redefines the very terms that describe his presidency. A RINO is now someone who is not a Trumpist, even though Trump was the OG RINO who tossed aside nearly principle the Party stood for.

The future for both parties and realignment
The Frankish Reich replied to Big Blitz's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You are correct that there is a fundamental realignment going on, and we are now seeing the third presidential election cycle of it. But your prescription was sadly wrong. You called for the Republicans to be the party of classical liberalism. There was a chance that could've happened at some point - any point - between 2008 and 2020. There were strong libertarians (small "l") in the Republican Party. Rand Paul (kook in some ways, but definitely a strong libertarian). Spencer Abraham. A few others long since forgotten. But that movement was killed by one man: Donald J. Trump. Free trade is a core tenet of classical liberalism; he is President Tariff. An expansive immigration policy is a core tenet too; he is President Deportation. That's just the start of it. Policy wise there is little that could be considered classical liberalism. And his governing style is a slap in the face of the rule of law. Right diagnosis; wrong prescription.
