Local kid makes Bills practice squad
ChevyVanMiller replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good luck to him. I always pull for local kids - still miss Naaman - but it's going to be a big jump from Maine to the pros. -
Are we sure Marrone is Hired?
ChevyVanMiller replied to plenzmd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fwiw, I heard Clayton on ESPN radio last night talking about the deal. He said he was surprised that it was 4 years instead of 5, so I kinda took that as that it was fully done. -
If the Bills play a game @ the Dome

Rather see 1 game a year in the the 'Cuse than in Toronto. -
Was Herm Edwards "applying" for D/C position...?
ChevyVanMiller replied to BobChalmers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think there is any chance that Edwards will leave ESPN for a DC position. Plus, very few guys, in any industry, want to go work for a guy that they once hired. -

Bills hire Doug Marrone to be Head Coach
ChevyVanMiller replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One of the things I really like about Marrone is that he took a dome team and destroyed WV - and the heralded Geno Smith - in the snow at Yankee stadium. Plus his other bowl win was against Kansas St. - pretty darn good program. On a side note, it's nice to see all of the negative reactions from posters that usually just lurk. See you all again in 7 years when Marrone retires, taking his 3 SB trophies with him. -

I like him. They should have him address the crowd at First Niagara at the 1st Sabres game now that the lockout is ended. I'm glad the Bills took a shot at a young up and comer rather than a retread. Plus, the Syracuse connection doesn't hurt - selling out that stadium each week is still crucial to solidify the long-term status of the team in Buffalo. I really enjoyed watching Syracuse play this year - it's an exciting offense and a hard-hitting aggressive defense - sign me up for a bit of that in Buffalo. Go Bills! -
phrase's/words you are sick of.

"Perfect" - In the sense that it is used by teenage girls in response to any information given in response to a question. For example: Teenage Girl- Can you tell me where the restrooms are? Waiter: Certainly, they're down the hall to the left. Teenage Girl: Perfect. Quite an overreaction. Perfect might be the response had the waiter said: "We employe futuristic science in this restaurant, your bladder will not fill while you dine with us, so enjoy your drinks and don't give the restroon another thought." -
Great showing by many Sabres prospects. Joel Armia of Finland was 2nd in tournament scoring with 12 pts. Russia's Mikhail Grigorenko had 6 pts and was a +4 for the tournament. His teammate, Goaltender Andrei Makarov posted a 2-1 record with a 2.99 GAA. Finally, USA Captain D Jake McCabe posted 6 points and was a +9 in the tourney, including 2 huge goals against Canada in the semis. Plus, the USA Coach was none other than "Wow Wee" Phil Housley - who just made a name for himself as a hot commodity in the coaching circles. Go USA! Go Sabres! (NHL give us a season, will ya?)

I'll never use the phrase "don't give me the hairy eyeball" loosely again.

Chip Kelly HC! (possibly for the Browns)
ChevyVanMiller replied to 13player's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I figured that one was a given, but absolutely C.J. is a huge lure to land Kelly. -

I think the Bills have a great opportunity with Kelly today. He has stated that he wants to make his decision "fast." The Bills are the first team in and they have previously indicated that they will pursue Kelly "hard." Couple that with Russ Brandon's open commitment to analytics and there just might be a chance for a home run today. If I was Russ I would tell Kelly 3 things - 1.) We want to be the standard bearer for analytic football and will give you wide range to establish it to your liking on the NFL level, 2.) We have the 8th pick in the draft and you can use that (either in keeping it or trading it) to get the QB you need to make your offense click and 3.) You have an opportunity here to knock NE and Belichick off of their decade + long perch and become a demigod to Buffalo fans. Also, I am working under the assumption that there is a succession plan in place and Russ would intimate that to all of the coaching candidates, thus defusing any concerns about franchise instability. Russ and Whaley need to take the lead here and play the youth card with Kelly. Keep Buddy in the background with his piehole zipped. If they can pull it off things could get really exciting around here really fast. Get 'er done, Russ. -
Thanks, Scott. I uninstalled and reinstalled the WGR app and had the same problem. Then I downloaded Tunein and am listening to the hockey program right now. Looking forward to checking out some of the other channels, too. Thanks again for the tip.

I downloaded the app (android phone) and every time I try to use the player feature it gives me an error code. Anyone else have that problem?

If the Bills are really going to interview McCoy it looks like no decisions will be made until at least the end of the weekend. ESPN Jeff Dickerson #Broncos are reportedly giving teams a window to interview OC Mike McCoy in Denver between Saturday afternoon and Sunday evening. #Bears

Any interest in a coach with a SB ring who says he's willing to listen if teams are interested? Mike Holmgren is available and just happens to live in Phoenix. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8799057/mike-holmgren-listen-teams-express-interest

Russ Brandon named President/CEO

I wouldn't be surprised if sale has already been made and this move is part of the bargain from the new owners. -

I think he's essentially out now. Just letting him save face because he is so well loved within the organization. -

I think it's a great development. Russ is a WNY guy who has worked hard to cement the team here by moving TC to Rochester and establishing the Toronto series. I think he'll be working behind the scenes to broker a deal with new ownership as well. Also, I think Nix is essentially done now - neutered by the firing of a coach that he said he was going to retain despite his putrid record. Whaley will have a HUGE hand in selecting the new coach and the new QB in the draft. Great day to be a Bills fan! 2013 is looking up. -
This should really excite the coaching candidates. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-2/Buffalo-Bills-sign-five-future-free-agents/461130f5-f4d4-4ffc-a74c-49d793b5705c
