  1. A strange side note to the Blizzard is that many people equate it with the first ever TV mini-series, "Roots," as it made it's debut when most people were shut in with nothing else to do, but watch TV.
  2. Great pic, thanks for sharing. I was 12 when the Blizzard hit and what i remember most was that CB radios were all the rage. Our neighbor had a 4-WD Blazer and volunteered to make emergency runs. We kept in touch with him on the CB. I also remember being really proud of my community (NF) as there were so many stories of people helping each other.
  3. January 28th was the start of the worst storm in the region's history? Where were you on that fateful day?
  4. Could be that you're on to something Really, I love the way you think outside the box Another, lesser, person might not see it so clearly You, however, are not like the others Or you are too modest to take a rightful bow Not that anyone would blame you for taking credit where credit is due. Zapateado is what I hear when you lay your rhythms down at TSW.
  5. You should have listened to the guy on the loudspeaker when he said, "The brown acid is bad, man."
  6. If they drafted Nassib it would be a very interesting experiment. In essence, you'd be getting a rookie going into his 4th year of the offense with the same coach and OC. It's never been done before and I almost want them to do it, just to see if it is as advantageous as it appears,on paper, that it might be .
  7. http://www.the-hog-farm.net/shop-wins-hog.html There was a similar lawsuit won back in 1997 by a West Seneca motorcycle shop called the "Hog Farm." Harley-Davidson brought all sorts of litigation against them and tried to get them to buckle under the legal strain. They held on and won! Horray for the little guy!
  8. One of the best lines ever uttered on a live NHL game was when Fox interviewed Dennis Hopper and asked him what he thought of their new "glowing puck" innovation. Hopper looked hard into the camera and said, "What are you talking about? I've been seeing that for years, man."
  9. NFL considering technology that would allow 1st down line to be seen by fans at stadium. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8870445/nfl-consider-bringing-first-line-technology-stadiums
  10. Well said. Hey, maybe we should kick the tires on Art Schlichter one more time, too.
  11. This is the definition of the word from the good people at Merriam-Webster. The second definition clearly makes the word properly used colloquially for a sports team. 1 : a succession of rulers of the same line of descent 2 : a powerful group or family that maintains its position for a considerable time
  12. I think whether or not they win another Super Bowl going forward will have a lasting impact on how history ultimately views them. I agree with John Warrow that BB is a great game manager - especially the Broncos intentional safety game that he referenced, but the videotaping reality does take a lot of the lustre off of the trophies. Win one without the spying advantage and impress everyone.
  13. Not long ago, the *Pats seemed to have one of the all-time great dynasties of all-time. Since then, they posted a perfect regular season, only to lose in the SB. Got caught in the spygate scandal. Lost another SB to the Giants and now have lost the AFC title game at home to the Ravens. How do you think history will judge the Belichick/Brady era? Will they win another SB? Discuss...
  14. Tony Farina is the guy that writes about the possibility of a NF Stadium, not me. I have no affiliation with the Niagara Falls Reporter and haven't since the new ownership took over early last year. (I also believe that the NF stadium theory is based on a lot of speculation and connecting dots that may never meet). And, no I was being facetious about him actually reading the playbook, but, considering how gullible he's offering himself out to be, I do seriously doubt his ability to properly handle the myriad of situations that NFL players need to navigate in their career.
  15. I just hope that, come draft time, everyone remembers that QBs often go way ahead of the draft number that the experts put on them. This team needs a real NFL QB more than anything - if that guy is there when they pick 8th, I'd like to see them grab him rather than get cutsey and try to get an extra 2nd by trading back.
  16. It still seems incomprehensible that Te'o wasn't involved. If he truly was innocent I don't know what the endgame was for the perps. Furthermore, he must be the most gullible guy in a high-profile situation to ever come down the pike. There is no way, if I was a GM, that I'd spend a 1st Rd pick on him. How soon would it be before the next phone girlfriend had him reading the playbook to her?
  17. It makes no sense that T'eo would keep referencing her AFTER he said he got the call from her saying she was still alive. Unless of course, he was in on it all along. Apply Occam's razor and that answer is by far the most plausible. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8856519/manti-teo-talked-girlfriend-knowing-hoax
  18. Thanks for your contributions, Eball. Always enjoy your viewpoints and totally concur with your thanking Scott for having the great wisdom to set up this forum that so many of us love.
  19. I'm willing to bet that within 24 hours a girl, or maybe many girls, will come forward to say that she (they) either dated or hooked with with Manti this season. No way was he sheltered in his dorm room pining for an online romance.
  20. What do you make of this quote from an ESPN article? This guy from the Cardinals is either lying to protect him or he's nuts, too. Things just get curiouser and curiouser. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8851033/story-manti-teo-girlfriend-death-apparently-hoax Reagan Mauia, an Arizona Cardinals fullback, said he believes Kekua existed because he met her in person when he and other Polynesian teammates and Pittsburgh Steelers starTroy Polamalu went to do charity work in American Samoa in June 2011. "This was before her and Manti," Mauia said Wednesday evening. "I don't think Manti was even in the picture, but she and I became good friends. We would talk off and on, just checking up on each other kind of thing. I am close to her family. When she was going through the loss of her father, I was -- I offered a comforting shoulder and just someone to bounce her emotions off. That was just from meeting her in Samoa." Mauia said Tuiasosopo -- whom Mauia believes is Kekua's cousin -- introduced the two. After the initial meeting, Mauia said he met her at an "after-party" for all of the athletes involved in the camp. "She was tall," he said. "Volleyball-type of physique. She was athletic, tall, beautiful. Long hair. Polynesian. She looked like a model ... " He said it is his understanding that Kekua's mother is operating her Twitter account. He said he'd never met her mother. When told by a reporter that she apparently might not have existed, Mauia said "No, she is real."
  21. If the Bills ever drafted the player that the majority of mock drafts pegged for them you'd have typed this masterful pretzel logic wearing a Haloti Ngata or Brian Orakpo jersey.
  22. Kelly comes off like a complete douche. Imagine being a Ducks fan - 1st he's killing you because he's leaving, then you survive the night of the long knives and are relieved because he's staying - only to have him stab you in the back now at the 11th hour. Seems like a no-class egotist - in hindsight, glad he's not here.
